Cast iron stool appears to have its original dark green paint with black and gold highlights(see photos) The design of the cast iron work appears to have some Eastlake pierced open work grill design. In addition to the ornate Victorian drape effect of oak leaves and the scrollwork feet, and the flowing/swirling Art Nouveau oak leaf and vine designs. Appears to have original pine or soft wood cover top. With is covered with the original straw– the straw covered with remnants of original jute material. The jute is covered with a 1930s era cloth material. And covering this material is a worn dark forest green velvet. The wood stool top is easily recoverable if new owner should so desire. Great Arts & Crafts Footstool. Original Leather and Tacks. Heavy Oak.
This solid little footstool is class Arts& Crafts/Mission. Very plain. With mortise and tenon construction, the oak has a wonderful creamy texture and was long ago stained a mahogany color to match the leather upholstery. Tacks are old and beautiful. The leather is worn, peeling off in points, but as I always say when talking about antiques, this adds to the charm. And this piece is very sturdy and entirely useable. Antique Camel Seat- Footstool Here we have for auction an early example of an Egyptian camel seat. With brass/copper fittings and leather padded seat. It is in need of a little TLC if it is to be brought back to its former glory- the leather is rather worn, with surface cracks from age and use, and the metal fittings will need some polishing. There are paint speckles on the wood which should be easily rectified. The leather seat is in five main sections- one central white section. Surrounded by black corners. They have leather circles in black and white leather embroidered into them and the edging/embroidery connects the 5 sections together. All this stitching is in good condition and apart from surface wear, there are no major cracks or splits in the leather. A couple of the brass studs on the side of the stool are missing. Antique Hand Carved Footstool - Peru - Hand Tooled Leather
Very interesting and beautiful piece I obtained at a local estate auction. The story is that the owner's mother's great aunt was a missionary in Peru in the late 1800's and first decade of the 1900's and brought this piece back. Upon her death. It was left to the the seller's mother and now to the seller at said auction where I obtained it. It is in original vintage condition and is 12" high, appx. 17 3/4" wide and 10" deep. I don't know what type of wood it is, but it isn't particularly heavy. The top and around the sides of the top are covered with leather and has a scene of three figures(one sitting) and a llama with mountains in the background. It appears to be hand tooled. Obviously, as shown in the pics, the leather has deteriorated over the years and the finish on both the wood and leather ... moreare well used, but I found that to make this piece that much more interesting. Obviously, I have no paperwork to prove her story, but it seems to add up based on the quality of the items that were offered at the estate sale. The leather is not falling off, but rather well worn. Antique wooden and black leather foot stool very well made. Only a very slight wiggle in 2 of the legs but overall still very sturdy. Lots of scratches and wear on the wood that you would expect on an old stool but to me that's part of what gives it character. Also there are 2 small tears and wear on the black leather top. Leather top Wear to leather Two rings to leather Solid and sturdy, This is an English antique footstool. The frame is made from solid oak and the top is covered in a lovely embossed brown leather. It is a great size to go with any chair and quite comfortable. The craftsman who made this piece meticulously turned the barley twist legs and joined them with an“I” shaped stretcher. A stretcher is necessary on a piece like this as it provides strength to all the legs. The wooden frame is in excellent condition. Covering the top is brown leather with embossing ... moreover the entire surface. Around the perimeter of the top are large hammered brass brads holding the leather to the frame. A raised floral pattern shows on either side of the top which is a beautiful and unusual decoration. The rest of the leather is embossed with tiny circles giving it a real textured look. Throughout the years the leather has sustained some wear. Two slight rings are visible on the top and there are numerous areas of light wear especially around the edges as you can see from the pictures. For this reason we have given this antique footstool a good condition rating instead of excellent. Originally this footstool was made in England sometime around 1940. We purchased it at an estate auction and it has been imported to our antique furniture store in Atlanta. GA. An English antique footstool with leather top. Spanish Revival Heavy Scrolled Wood Footstool Woven Leather Top Tiny Mark?
Footstool weighs 10 pounds. Has some scratches where I was determined to sand and stain it. I noticed a very small x or a cross on it but it can not be seen with the naked eye. I tried to take a picture through a jeweler's eye. The top looks to have been redone as the leather doesn't look as old. The woven leather top is removable for some reason. The stool is jointed with slats I think. It seems to have scrolled oak legs with over sized hammered decorative studs. 5 on each side. The measurements are 17" square& 14" tall& 10 lbs. Any help by someone who knows anything would be greatly appreciated. The stool is so heavy it will probably cost $25 to $30 to ship. I am willing to sell it but would kind of like to keep it also.

This rare footstool is covered in a richly dyed supple leather-regal burnt red starting from the outside. In the middle of the leather the color turns to a darkish-orange tan. A beautiful embossment separates the 2 royal colors. The middle of the stool showcases a painted Royal Crown resting atop a seal. The edges of the leather are adorned with nailheads. The wood is beautifully hand-carved. Cabriole legs end in Whorl style feet. The underside is covered in black felt. I believe this footstool is front the 1920's or 1930's. My grandparents built their home in the early 1920's. Both were deceased by 1941. As you can see from the photos the footstool has 5 wood ball feet and stands 6.5" tall. And has a 13" diameter. It is covered in leather that has a brown and black floral pattern. Vintage Arts Crafts L&JG Stickley Leather Footstool#391 I purchased this L& JG Stickley footstool in the mid-eighties from a local Pasadena antique dealer specializing in Arts and Crafts. The footstool is signed on the inside stretcher with the 1907 L& JG Stickley Handcraft wood clamp mark. It measures 18” high and 19” wide. The leather is original and has many rough spots and tear on one edge. Prior to my purchasing the stool there was a fabric overlay and the holes are still present on the side. This is a very cool vintage Moroccan leather footstool. It still has its original tag attached to the leather straps that tie it closed on bottom- see photos. It appears to be from the 40s and measures 21" across the top x 12" tall when filled. It will be shipped empty to save on shipping as I only put filling in it for the photos.
