This identified by the seatback attachment, among other obvious things. This chair is in great condition overall for it's age. No damage or mechanical issues. Even the wheels are smooth. I have not done much to this chair but gently cleaned steel with 0004 steel wool, and Murphys Oil Soap. So the original green is preserved nicely, and the patina is excellent looking(aged) chair; for the Modernist, Steampunk, Machine Age, or Drafting/Engineering Type. This exquisite Toledo Art Steel stool came to us with the seat upholstered in shag carpet. Our competent staff removed the shag carpet. Sanded, stained, and refinished the seat to restore the authentic beauty of the seat. A small area on the edge of the stool seat was damaged by the staples. The damage was sanded smooth and adds a little character to the finished piece- see picture. The base of the stool was very much intact, aside from paint wear, and we have left it original. Vintage Toledo Metal Furniture Industrial Drafting Stool UHL Steel mid century
I have other UHL and vintage industrial items listed and more on the way. This is a cool stool with great patina it hasn't been cleaned or restored it looks cool as is or if you want you could paint it. This is 18 tall and 14.25 wide it is very sturdy it will hold anyone. The front legs are molded with a curve in them at first I thought they were bent but they were made that way not sure of their purpose but it does make working on things on the ground easier with a tilt to the seat.

The wooden seat measures 15" diameter and stands 28" high at its lowest adjustment. It can adjust up about 3" +. I will lower it down all the way for shipment. This was found in very nice condition. There is a bit of exposed metal here and there. Some light discoloration, light surface rust and surface scratches. The foot rest has the most paint wear from use. Here is a very nice Vintage Toledo UHL steel industrial metal stool. The stool is 15” wide at the seat. It is approximately 33 ½” at its highest adjustment& 29” at its lowest. Awesome industrial machine-age drafting stool made by UHL STEEL FURNITURE/ THE TOLEDO METAL FURNITURE CO. Toledo OH. See the yellow maker marking in the picture for all of the maker information. The stool is in good vintage condition. It has a very nice aged look to it that some people like so I haven't really tried to clean it up much. I'll leave that decision to the buyer. The wood face of the back rest is coming up at the edges in a few places, not damaged just needs re-glued. The metal frame has a fair amount of rust as can be seen in the pictures. The nut on the rear side of the back rest is is covered in masking tape. It actually works very well for turning the nut in order to adjust the back-rest height. The adjustment mechanism works very well for both the back rest and the seat height. Overall. The chair is very sturdy. It ... moreswivels smoothly and adjust easily. DIMENSIONS: The seat sits 25" high at its lowest position and 30" at its highest. The back rest sits between 7" to 11" above the seat. The actual seat is about 16.5" wide And 14" front to back. The back rest is about 13.5" wide and 6" tall. The overall stool height ranges from about 38 1/4" to 42 1/2" It has 7 different height adjustment options. There is a brass tag on the rear of the back-rest stamped"O 122940" I'm not sure of the significance of this. Up for auction is this really nice vintage machine age stool by Toledo Stool/ Ohio Steel. The seat and back of chair are in very good to excellent condition. There is some rust and pitting on the bottom of the legs and round feet.There is still some of the original paper label on the frame underneath and metal label EATON RICH on the opposite side see photos no. 4& 5.It has a spring load lever to adjust seat height. It turns/swivels.There appears to be a weld on the frame see photo no. 8 original? Here is an industrial stool/ chair. For your home, art studio, or work shop. Its got the great look of the 1920s-1950s industrial era. Material is steel and birch plywood. The makers tags are missing. Its a Toledo probably. Its in as found condition. And can be used as is. I did some light cleaning to it. And ran the seat adjuster up and down. The chair adjusts in height 5 inches. With a seat height of 16 to 21 inches. Heavy duty factory type item. After doing some looking to ID this item. I have found all the design features used by the Toledo Uhl Art Steel company. Further reading shows the plywood versions to be older than the plastic ones. About the Toledo Uhl company The Toledo Metal Furniture Company was started as Uhl's Cycle Emporium at 1021-23 Monroe Street in Toledo. Ohio in 1898. Philip and Clement Uhl were the original founders, ... moreand brought in their brothers Joseph Otto, Charles, Henry and Robert Uhl. Later the Uhls shifted their focus to manufacturing ice cream parlor furniture. Renaming the company Uhl Art Steel, and in 1904 incorporating as the Toledo Metal Furniture company. By 1920, there were over 150 employees and the product mix had been expanded to include office and classroom furniture. According to a 1914 Journal of the National Association of Retail Druggists. Clement and Joe designed the unique locked truss-rail leg assembly of cold rolled steel that remains a hallmark of the company's furniture. In addition to lending a distinctive design element. The truss was important in creating a product with the strength and durability to endure rugged use by students, telephone operators, military personnel, draftsmen and ice cream parlor customers. I PURCHASED TWO TOLEDO CHAIRS IN GOOD CONDITION TWO YEARS AGO AT AUCTION(BUT THERE WERE SOME SCRATCHES AND STAINS ON THE WOOD AND THE ORIGINAL GREEN/BROWN PAINT I DID NOT CARE FOR) FIRST AND FOREMOST: This is no Restoration Hardware knockoff. There is no stamp or sticker visible as it was removed during repainting the base. Then I lost it.what can I say. I'm not a professional handyman or carpenter. I disassembled the chair the best I could but did not want to remove the rivets. All wood was sanded to the grain. Stained with a walnut colonial finish, and given two coats of clear non glossy polyurethane. I saved this chair from the trash 15 years ago. Because I loved the swivel feature and how comfortable it was- and it still is. As you can see from the photos, it is rusty and the feet are very worn. The seat is about 14.5" in diameter. When at it's lowest point, the chair is about 28" tall, and about 33" at it's max height. The hoop at the bottom is about 18" in diameter. This vintage Uhl Art Steel"Perfection" chair was made by the Toledo Chair Company and dates to the early twentieth century. It measures approximately 31&3/4" tall and the seat is 14&1/4" in diameter. The chair is structurally sound with no breaks in the welds. It has surface rust and wear to the black paint. Which gives it a great industrial patina. One of the back chair legs has a broken-off piece on the metal disk at tip. This does not affect the stability of the chair-it sits flat and does not wobble at all on a flat surface.

From Wisconsin Department of transportation. The wooden seat and back are clean with no deep scratches or stains. The pictures that I took using a flash appear to have white marks on the steel. Original Toledo UHL Steel Vintage Industrial Swivel Student Drafting Chair Stool with adjustable Back Rest. APPROXIMATE DIMENSIONS: With the chair fully extended. The seat height is 21 1/2"High; and with the chair completely retracted or lowered- the seat is 16 1/4"High. CONDITION: On a scale of 1 to 10. With 10 being PERFECT; I rate this chair an 8 out of 10. This is due to the light scuffing. It is in EXCELLENT condition with a beautiful patina. VERY DECORATIVE!

Here is one unknown metal drafting stool. Or shop chair, in the industrial toledo uhl era 1920-1950s style. If you know the maker. Please do let me know. I think its pretty old. And may be 1920s? Leg material is steel. With surface rusted chrome, and a screw for height adjustment. The original seat is made from a wood base. And vintage oil cloth material. Its got a worn and rugged patina. But would also polish up with some steel wool. The makers stamp is not present on the seat underside. So its of unknown make. Its in as found condition. And can be used as is. This is a heavy duty factory type item. But the screws need tightened some. Dimensions in inches: 12.5 wide at the feet x 13.8 seat diameter. The seat height adjusts from 17.5 to 24.5 overall height. This is an authentic 1930s swivel stool by Toledo Metal Furniture Company. OH. The measurements: 33" tall at the highest( 28 1/2" at the lowest) seat setting, seat- 15" diameter.
