Very nice all original UHL Toledo Draftsman pivoting chair with wooden casters. This is the first one I have had with quartersawn tiger oak seat and back. The height adjustment(15-1/4" to 18-1/4" is made via the metal plates under the seat. O riginal military green finish base with only normal light surface wear. No damage. Very sturdy. An excellent chair. By removing 4 wing nuts the seat easily separates from the base- I have priced shipping based on my doing this to reduce the package size. If you prefer that I ship it in one piece I can adjust the shipping rate to reflect the actual cost of doing so. There are scratches on the paint but overall the paint is pretty good. Mechanically it is complete and operates properly. The swivel pads are intact and work well. Overall condition is very good. Vintage Industrial Adjustable UHL Toledo Drafting Stool w/ Backrest and Footrest
UHL Stool This vintage UHL stool dates from 1940-1950. The stool adjusts up and down and adjustment works perfectly(height of seat from 16 1/2" to 24" When the seat is set in it's lowest position the top of the backrest is 30" high. The original seat and back have been refinished to a rich dark walnut with a satin lacquer clear coat. The seat measures 16" wide and 14" deep. The backrest measures 13 1/2" wide and 6" high. Both are 3/8" thick. The seat swivels freely. The foot rest ring is 20 1/4" in diameter which is more desirable than the standard 16" The chair was completely dismantled and sandblasted by a professional. Industrial Toledo Metal 14" H Rolling Stool 14" D UHL Steel Furniture Painted
All castors roll and ossilate freely. Original label identifies it as made by"Toledo Steel and UHL Metal Furniture Co. This one came from a closed machine shop in New Britain. Cute little guy and mighty handy. It was rusty when I got it and as much as I hate new paint I felt it needed some curb appeal. I used 000 steel wool and thinner to clean it and painted it with Rustoleum Hammered Paint. I did not paint the bottom of the seat to keep the label visible. I have some nice items including more industrial things like lites etc this week. PLease have a look.

Seat measures 16" w x 14" d. and has a 16" dia. foot ring. Original height adjustment spring is missing and has been replaced by newer one. The feet on this stool are worn, all four balls are fully intact along with rings but the bottom has worn out. This stool is military green in color showing use with random paint splatter on its seat. Great stool overall.

This identified by the seatback attachment, among other obvious things. This chair is in great condition overall for it's age. No damage or mechanical issues. Even the wheels are smooth. I have not done much to this chair but gently cleaned steel with 0004 steel wool, and Murphys Oil Soap. So the original green is preserved nicely, and the patina is excellent looking(aged) chair; for the Modernist, Steampunk, Machine Age, or Drafting/Engineering Type. Dimensions: Chair Height ranges from 30.5"33" based on where backrest is set. Seat height is 18.5" Seat is 16" wide x 14" deep. This exquisite Toledo Art Steel stool came to us with the seat upholstered in shag carpet. Our competent staff removed the shag carpet. Sanded, stained, and refinished the seat to restore the authentic beauty of the seat. A small area on the edge of the stool seat was damaged by the staples. The damage was sanded smooth and adds a little character to the finished piece- see picture. The base of the stool was very much intact, aside from paint wear, and we have left it original. There are some very Minor scratches on the metal bases on some of them, No Rust. Flaking Paint, or Other Issues. One of the backs as 2 scratches on it and One base has a screw in it. They are about as close to new as you will find. The s eats are 16 inches wide and 14 inches deep. The base of the stools are about 15 Inches square. You are Bidding on a pair of old Toledo Shop Stools. These stools were found in an old Building. Someone had started a restoration and they were a mess. I took these to a Professional that restores furniture. I paid over 200.00 to have them restored. The stools Were totally disassembled. Each i ndividual piece was sanded and painted Machinery Gray. This is one of the colors Toledo used back in the era of these stools. The base the seat sets On were painted in black just like they were originally. The wooden seats were l eft as found and Clear-coated. I think this is what really sets these apart. They show wear and a few paint spots. It appears that the w ood may have been glued at one time. I am not sure because they both have The imperfection in the s ame spot. One seat has a small chip under the edge of the seat. The have the swivel seats ... moreand are the taller stools. Vintage Toledo Metal Furniture Industrial Drafting Stool UHL Steel mid century
I have other UHL and vintage industrial items listed and more on the way. This is a cool stool with great patina it hasn't been cleaned or restored it looks cool as is or if you want you could paint it. This is 18 tall and 14.25 wide it is very sturdy it will hold anyone. The front legs are molded with a curve in them at first I thought they were bent but they were made that way not sure of their purpose but it does make working on things on the ground easier with a tilt to the seat.

We are not sure if this stool belongs in your home or a museum. Living in Toledo we have seen our share of Toledo stools. This is the only example we have seen of a pre Toledo Metal Furniture Company stool made by the Uhl Brothers. The classic Uhl style has become an icon of 20th century design. The Uhls opened the"Uhls Cycle Emporium" in 1898 in Toledo. Ohio. At the turn of the century as automobiles became more popular bicycle sales began to taper off. The Uhl brothers turned their attention to making metal furniture. The Toledo Metal Furniture Company was incorporated in 1904. There is a brass plate on the bottom of this stool which reads"Made by The Uhl Bros. Co. Toledo, Ohio U.S.A. Pat July 22, 1902. The stool is still sturdy. Vintage Toledo UHL Steel Industrial Drafting Stool OC White Lighting Steam Punk
Awesome industrial machine-age drafting stool made by UHL STEEL FURNITURE/ THE TOLEDO METAL FURNITURE CO. Toledo OH. See the yellow maker marking in the picture for all of the maker information. The stool is in good vintage condition. It has a very nice aged look to it that some people like so I haven't really tried to clean it up much. I'll leave that decision to the buyer. The wood face of the back rest is coming up at the edges in a few places, not damaged just needs re-glued. The metal frame has a fair amount of rust as can be seen in the pictures. The nut on the rear side of the back rest is is covered in masking tape. It actually works very well for turning the nut in order to adjust the back-rest height. The adjustment mechanism works very well for both the back rest and the seat height. Overall. The chair is very sturdy. It ... moreswivels smoothly and adjust easily. DIMENSIONS: The seat sits 25" high at its lowest position and 30" at its highest. The back rest sits between 7" to 11" above the seat. The actual seat is about 16.5" wide And 14" front to back. The back rest is about 13.5" wide and 6" tall. The overall stool height ranges from about 38 1/4" to 42 1/2" It has 7 different height adjustment options. There is a brass tag on the rear of the back-rest stamped"O 122940" I'm not sure of the significance of this. Vintage Industrial Toledo UHL Draftsman Stool Machine Age Chair 1930s Green NR
This 1930's Toledo Steel UHL Industrial draftsman or shop design stool is in very good condition. The metal on the legs and seat support rim is a dark industrial green and shows minimal wear for a stool of this age. The wood seat has the original finish and has a green tint to it. The foot rest is missing most of the paint on the top and shows more tarnish than the legs. As would be natural for this area of the stool. The pad ball feet also show some tarnish. I think the foot rest and feet could easily be cleaned with a light scrbbing of steel wool and some oil. The rest of the stool needs nothing more than a light cleaning with oil or wax. It is structurally sound and has no missing parts that I can see. It has the majority of the original foil label still intact on the underside of the seat. Up for auction is this really nice vintage machine age stool by Toledo Stool/ Ohio Steel. The seat and back of chair are in very good to excellent condition. There is some rust and pitting on the bottom of the legs and round feet.There is still some of the original paper label on the frame underneath and metal label EATON RICH on the opposite side see photos no. 4& 5.It has a spring load lever to adjust seat height. It turns/swivels.There appears to be a weld on the frame see photo no. 8 original? The top of this Toledo stool was split and beat up when it came to us. Our competent staff reglued. Sanded, stained, and finished the seat. The stool seat does still have some deep scratches from wear and a small saw nick on the side from some incident in the past. The base of the stool was very much intact, aside from paint wear, and we have left it alone. The stool seat measures about 15" in diameter, the foot print of the stool legs are 15" x 15" the stool height adjusts between 33" and 27.5" and the foot rest is 16" in diameter. Completely manufactured of solid high gauge steel throughout with original Brown enamel finish. All very well engineered and machined. Manufactures decal marking is evident on the backside rail of the desk. Although it is worn it is legible as the early shield/scroll design logo. CONDITION: This impressive set is in well used but completely intact ideal patina original condition. Solid, stable and fully functional. Old Vintage Industrial Toledo UHL Draftsman Stool Machine Age Chair Antique Rare
Here we have a vintage or antique Machine Age industrial drafting stool by UHL Toledo. This stool is the authentic item but it is missing it's label. As you can see from the photos there is some wear and paint damage as well as some mild rusting but it is in great condition as you can see from the photos an awesome look. The seat of this stool is about 24 inches tall and it's surface area is about 16 inches by 14 inches. As shown in the photos the back rest is about 38 inches tall. The height of the chair is no longer able to adjust. When it was in factory use it seems that they customized the chair so that it could not adjust higher but the stool does swivel. Vintage Hallowell Industrial Swivel Stool -Like The Toledo UHL Machine Age Chair
Vintage/ Antique"Hallowell" Industrial Swivel Stool- Similar to the Toledo UHL Chairs or other Machine Age Steampunk stools. Manufacturer markings on chair: Hallowell” Standard Pressed Steel Co. Jenkintown. PA, USA Equipment Identification Label: PLCB-695 Function Number 77-3/00#210-RF-27-31, This vintage industrial Hallowell chair has adjustable height. The chair measures 39” tall to the top of the contoured backrest. The seat at its lowest height is 27.75” and at its tallest height is 31.5” The seat itself is 14.5” in diameter and the foot print of the chair(measuring the round foot rest bar) is 19” in diameter. This would be a great chair for a bar. Kitchen island, drafting table, or tall desk. The legs are comprised of heavy gauge steel with welded bracing for durability. The swivel and adjustable height mechanics are smooth ... moreand are not at all noisy; Vintage swivel chairs can often be noisy, but this chair makes nearly no sound when swiveling. The wood seat section can anchor to the steel frame with 4 bolts, but only 2 original bolts exist and are shown in the bottom-side of seat in the photos. While the two original bolts are definitely sufficient enough for stability— even for my 210lb frame— I will also provide 2 additional bolts purchased new from my local hardware store. The gray paint(with slight greenish and blue hues) shows areas of wear, but this gives the chair even more character. The wood sections of the chair are very structurally sound, but the contoured back rest is seeing some minor separation between wood laminates at the bottom edge of the backrest(see close-up photos) You can see there is a 3/4” wide piece of the top veneer on the backside of the backrest that has peeled off. This piece is missing and is not included.
