The glass balls on the feet are free of anh cracks and chips. The stool has had the seat reglued and overall refinished at some point in its past and surfaces have a smooth sealed finish. There is a color variation on the base of the stool. Almost looks like shadowing in the finish, not sure what it is but it does look nice. I took lots of pictures of different sides so you can see. I have wiped the stool down and given it a hand rubbed wax finish, so it is ready to use. This item is estate fresh and ready for a new home. Very nice H. Holtzman& Son Piano Stool for sale. The conditions that I see are that on the swivel seat there appears to be a crack in the wood. And the brass pieces on the feet are loose and need to be tightened up, and the base part where the stool screws in is loose and would raise up from the base an inch or two. Maybe this is normal I do not know and wanted disclose what I see. Other than this the wood is in beautiful condition. The wood is either Mahogany or walnut and I would lean towards walnut, but I do not know for sure. This lovely antique piano or organ stool has a octagon shaped seat that is 15" diameter. It is covered with a burgundy needle point floral design. It has a heavy wooden base and is very sturdy. From what I've learned, the company started making piano/organ stools in the late 1800's thru the early 1900's. It swivels up and down. At its' lowest height it measures 19 1/2" tall.14 1/2" wide(seat top) IF you screw the height up it measures at LEAST 24" It's NOT perfect.looks like it had a split to the bottom that was repaired AND it looks like one spindle was re-glued and re-nailed at some point. Antique Vintage Piano Organ Stool Victorian style Cast Iron Ball& Claw Feet Ornate. The stool adjusts from 19 inches to 22 inches. The top is 14 1/2" across and 1 5/8" thick. Scratches. Nicks, and some of the finish knocked off from normal use. There is a 2 inch piece of bead molding missing on the seat rim. The glass balls have flat spots worn on the bottom. The glue joints on the top of the seat are visible. The screw thread has wear, so the stool seat is a little wobbly. Very usable. The base is very solid. Swivel goes up and down as if it were new and the wood is in excellent shape. It looks like it"may" have been repainted/resurfaced but I believe it is just slight wearing of the original surface. The hardware states"SCHUERMANN WASHINGTON. N.J. F.A. Schuermann was a co-founder of the New York Stool& Mfg Co started in the early 1900's along with W. Tonk and E.G. Tonk with only $25.000 in capital. I have been able to find very little beyond this but was told by an appraiser friend that it is an extremely rare stool and that he hadn't seen enough of them to even begin to give me an estimated price on it. Vintage Antique Victorian Piano Organ Stool Face Claw and Ball Feet Up for auction is this nice Oak Organ Stool. The stool is finished in a light oak tone. This stool is in very good antique condition. The ball have no cracks or chips. The legs and the central column are fluted. There are no maker's marks to identify the manufacturer. The top is 14.5 inches in diameter. The height can be adjusted from 20 inches to about 24 inches. The stool is very ornately turned at the top: it has green cushion with red trim and appointed with a beading that goes around the entire circumference. There are no signs of damage or previous repairs. There are few dark stain spots on cushion. Overall. This stool is in very good condition and should provide many years of use and beauty. You are bidding on a fabulous antique tiger oak swivel claw foot piano or organ stool made by quality maker H. Holtzman& Sons of Columbus Ohio. There's a patent date of June 13. 1908 on the base of the stool. We've seen quite a few of these.but this is about the best condition you'll find one in. There's no cracks or splits or repairs to the legs.which is very unusual. As you can see from photos, the stool has a beautiful undamaged top with only one older small dent. The design and grain of the wood is very nice. Each claw foot holds a clear glass ball and none of them are cracked.while the adjustable seat is smooth and sturdy at all levels. No makers marks that I can see. It measures about 19" tall by 15-1/2" wide and 12-1/2" deep. This was restored at one time. But not recently. The top appears to have springs with stuffing inside that gives it a nice firm but comfortable feel. It doesn't go"flat" when pressing on it and it springs back fine. This stool may need to be reupholstered. I do not know what kind of wood this stool is made of, but it appears to be real solid. The rest of the paint needs to be stripped off of the wood and stained. Or it can be kept just the way it is. The Company that made this stool has been gone for a long time. Age is late 1800's to early 1900's. 19 1/2" fully down-24 1/2" fully up to where the threads come undone so about 23" of safe usable height. Seat is 14 1/4" diameter and dished in the middle for comfort. Signed Schuermann Washington NJ. Leg spread is 14" across the closest feet. 18 1/2" across the farthest. Glass/crystal balls have air bubbles and in good shape. Threads in the iron mounting mechanism look good and are not worn out and it adjusts nicely. Wood is probably oak. Joints are tight. Some shallow drying cracks. Seat has various colored woods but looks original. You can feel the joint where the wood changes color o the seat but it seems solid enough. I am going to remove the 4 screws that hold the iron to the bottom of the seat to hold the box size down for shipping. I like to put a dab of wood ... moreglue on the threads when i put these old items back together.Overall a good looking sound stool.
