Has label on base"edsal" which looks to be dated 1967. Stool shows average cosmetic wear. No rust. Dents, etc. I think the screw on the back rest may be a replacement. Good sturdy piece. Legs adjust with screws to a variety of heights. At the tallest it measures 25" from floor to seat and shortest it is 17.5" from floor to seat. Back rest height can also be adjusted for height or back rest can be removed with a screw at the bottom of the stool. Many options. The hardwood tops have 80 years of wear and vary widely in terms of overall patina and color tone, further are straight and true, with no warping what so ever. No screws are included. Great looking vintage industrial stool The stool has a nice distressed original finish sure to get better with age. The heavy metal frame is very sturdy and in good shape. The original wooden seat is 13-1/2" in diameter. The stool should adjust from about 17 1/2" to 22-1/2" tall. The shaft is rusty. But there is a set screw. we sprayed it down with WD40 and we'll see what happens when it cools down this evening. I think we will get it to turn! The piece has chips. Scratches, paint splatters and a chunk missing from the seat, which all add to the character. The hardware underneath would suggest this may have had a back at one time. You are Bidding on a pair of old Toledo Shop Stools. These stools were found in an old Building. Someone had started a restoration and they were a mess. I took these to a Professional that restores furniture. I paid over 200.00 to have them restored. The stools Were totally disassembled. Each i ndividual piece was sanded and painted Machinery Gray. This is one of the colors Toledo used back in the era of these stools. The base the seat sets On were painted in black just like they were originally. The wooden seats were l eft as found and Clear-coated. I think this is what really sets these apart. They show wear and a few paint spots. It appears that the w ood may have been glued at one time. I am not sure because they both have The imperfection in the s ame spot. One seat has a small chip under the edge of the seat. The have the swivel seats ... moreand are the taller stools. We did not notice any damage to the wood as far as chunks missing or cracks. The metal parts are made of cast iron and is designed to mount on the corner of a leg/ post. The seat is very solid and has many years of use left. Will need to be cleaned of old paint or left as is. The pictures should show the rest. Between the ware shows a nice metallic oxidation and overall original aged patina. Outstanding! It's over 2 feet high as pictured and can be spun down to about 19" high. Which was once a powerhouse in the machine tool industry(J&L, Bryant Grinder, ... moreFellows Gear Shaper, etc) There is a very good chance it came from one of the local shops at some point in time(an awful lot of artifacts from those shops is sitting in the homes and shops in this area) This appears to be a Yankee solution to a shop need. The oak chair top is by Marble& Shattuck and I think was originally an office chair. It was at some point married up with the old industrial green tubular steel stool base. It works fine. The tube the post under the chair sits in has a bronze bushing in it as a bearing. The chair is somewhat wobbly in that bushing. So perhaps a new bushing is needed. There is a set screw on the side of the tube at the top of the base. If you use it, then the stool won't swivel. Sizes: 20-1/2" wide at the foot rest. 23" deep from the seat back to the foot rest in front, 43-1/2" high at the seat back, 26-1/2" high when the seat is at its lowest point The oak seat has a big split in it as shown. It needs to be glued in my opinion. The side braces also have splits in the wood down low underneath. The finish is quite worn with scratches. Scuffs and such from years of use and handling. Someone added a round piece of wood and tacked a leatherette cover over it. It appears to be a fairly old repair. It ranges from about 25 1/2" to about 30 1/2" tall and the base measures about 14" x 14 1/2" It has been repainted. and the legs show some wear, but it still solid and strong.
