Vintage Italian Florentia Florentine Wood Mirror / Frame Gold Gilt, Gesso Gothic
Up for your consideration is a vintage Florentia handmade frame made in Italy. This item is stunning and ornate. It measures approx. 14.75" x 12.75" with a beautiful goddess on the top wearing a string of pearls around her neck and a regal roaring lion on the bottom. The window dimensions are approx. 5" x 12" The frame has gilt gold and gesso still vibrantly beautiful considering the age. Based on its stunning condition.this frame must have sat in very favorable conditions for many years. When I received it, it had very little dust. I cleaned all the nooks and crannies very lightly. The only issue that this frame has is the paper on the back is torn a little(see pic) There are no cracks or chips. The gold and gesso still look very vibrant. It still has the original cardboard insert. I'm not sure if this frame ever ... morehad anything in it.but it would make a wonderful mirror or picture frame. Lovely Small Vintage G Vanghi Florence Hand Made Italy Florentine Wall Mirror
Lovely Small Vintage G Vanghi Florence Hand Made Italy Florentine Wall Mirror O.K. So I spent allllll day yesterday shopping for you and came home with a truck-full. I’m so excited to show you what I have! Lots of antiques; primitive to retro to deco to Victorian pretties, advertising, and just cool stuff. I’ll take me a white to list, so be sure to keep checking! Gosh. It seems like a white since I have sold a piece of Italian Florentine- and I actually found two in my treasure hunts this week- so be sure to check my other listings too. This listing is for a wonderful small wall mirror, tagged on the back that reads, Hand Made in Italy, Style B350M, G. Vanghi- Florence. The mirror measures 7 1/4" by 5 3/8" on the ouside of the frame and the mirror alone/inside the frame measures 5 1/4" by 3 1/2" It is in excellent solid ... moreand sturdy condition structurally. The frame is sound and the mirror is without cracks or chips that I can see. There's ripping to the paper at the back on the upper left hand side- the type caused by pushing in, and it looks like the paper has darkened with age- there's caramel colored stains/marks all over that look like foxing. The finish on the frame shows some wear and chipping that I think is minor, especially for old Florentine. See photo 5 where there's some chipping on the inside. You can see some wear spots on the perimeter/side of the frame too- little white dots. The largest chip is on the lower left side and it's about 1/4" long- that's the one in photo 5. Everything else is much smaller. You can see what appears to be crackling or crazing to both the gold and the gorgeous medium blue finish on the frame- I think it just makes the piece look yummy and it shows its age. It weighs just over 1/4 lb. The mirror could use a good cleaning. I do not clean or mess with as found patina in any way. There's very light scratching on the mirror, but the reflection is nice. This LARGE vintage Italian Florentine Oval Gesso mirror has a beautiful botanical design going around the edge of the frame. This one dates to around the 1950's– 60’s. This Rococo style frame is wood& composition material. It looks like Barbola around the edges. Condition is very good for the age on this Italian gold frame. There is a lovely uneven patina to the scrolling and inner edge& minor chipping for the age. typical in vintage Florentine) Some of the gold has worn away on the scrolling so you can get a glimpse of the underneath.
