Original condition with some gilt missing from the corvetto balls that dot the surround. Features an ebonized reeded slip at the rim of the convex mirror. There is a little black paint missing there also. The mirror has a couple of age spots but no major damage or fogging. The original metal link chain graces the reverse. There is an egg and dart motif on the four corners. A couple of the balls are a little loose but would only be noticed upon super close inspection. Antique hand carved Federal Eagle Convex round mirror in hand carved gilded wood. The mirror looks very old and we believe it to date from the late 1800's. We took lots of pictures so that the people interested can appreciate the way it is made and be able to estimate its age. The frame is all hand carved wood with a gold gilt surface. The convex glass is in excellent condition with very mild interior discoloration from age that hardly shows. The overall measurements are 32" high X 22" wide. The mirror only is 17 1/2" in diameter. As one can see clearly from all our pictures. The condition in general is very good, except for a small part of the eagle's head missing. Unfortunately this is how the mirror was found. This rare pair of gold-colored convex mirrors measures 5 inches across each. The eagle atop of each one has a wingspread about 2 inches. D's pieces are extremely well detailed. The members themselves to show some discoloration in the silver. Overall the frames are in excellent shape but as always all these old things are sold"as is. We have for your consideration an Antique Federalist Americana Eagles Bull's Eye Round Convex Carved Mirror Frame. This estate mirror frame is in very good antique condition with ornate wood and gesso carvings. It features an eagle on top and is surrounded by 13 round balls representing the original 13 original colonies who broke free of the British Empire in the American Revolution. PLEASE NOTE: We are selling the frame only. I have shown it with the mirror for viewing only since the mirror broke after taking the photos. We are selling this rare FRAME ONLY which could easily have a mirror cut and replaced. This frame measures 30" tall. And 21 1/4" in diameter.

VINTAGE FEDERAL STYLE 15 5/8" DIAMETER EAGLE CREST ROUND CONVEX MIRROR

This listing is for a vintage smaller size Federal style convex mirror with an eagle crest. It is an old piece. But not actual Federal Period} The mirror is encased in a wood carved frame with a carved eagle crest at the top set on wreath style leaves that conform to the curve of the frame. The leave motif is repeated at the bottom of the frame. This mirror stands 23 1/2" high by 15 5/8" in diameter. The frame is 1 1/4" thick. The eagle has a wing spread of 13, and the overall weight is 4.9 pounds. CONDITION: There is slight chipping in some areas around the outer edge of the frame. And on the rear of the frame on the mid right side. There is age crackling to the gold paint and paint loss ... moreon each of the ball decorations. A repaint would solve each of these issues. The mirror itself is a little loose and probably should be reset. There are no cracks to the mirror but there is one area of age clouding or mirror surface loss on the lower right side of the mirror. See the last two photographs. American Federal Giltwood Round Mirror with Convex Glass, Early 19th Century
AMERICAN FEDERAL CIRCULAR MIRROR WITH CONVEX GLASS Early 19th Century Item# 502EOB22 For anyone passionate about the Federal Period. This is an affordable and very striking work of the period. The deeply molded frame is embellished with large carved wooden beads, these also covered in the same thin layer of gesso employed on the entire surface prior to gilding. Clearly the mirror has seen it's fair share of history and active use, the surface having been overpainted at some point to refresh the gilding, this now also seeing loss- however, it somehow ends up only being more endearing with the craquelure and discolorations. As a small piece, it's somewhat"shabby" nature is isolated and attractively juxtaposes furnishings of a more clean finish. It is a wonderful way to add period character and charm to a formal room, particularly ... morefor the Classical or Federal decorated home. Measurements: 19 3/8" diameter x 3 3/8" depth Condition Report: Surface overpainted in gold. Extensively flaking and chipped with significant loss. The result is actually quite nice depending on your taste. One ball decoration with significant paint loss. Glass replaced. Back not removed for examination.
