Victorian Antique Wall Mirror- long, hanging, silverbacked. Wood & plaster. P/U
Beautiful antique wall mirror. Most likely Victorian though I wouldn't really date this as much older than the early turn of the century. It's about 54" wide and 19" tall from the highest point of the decoration in the center. It has 3 mirrored panes and it looks to be silverbacked. There is very faint tarnishing taking place underneath which you can see. But I think it adds to the patina. Looks great. There's also a very small mark on the glass in the middle pane near the edge, not very noticeable. It's made of wood with an ornate plaster front and top decoration of a shell. The left bottom corner has a small chip in the plaster. This mirror is in great shape for its age. It's very heavy and has a wire string in the back for hanging. Eagle Mirror (Federal ?) Wood & Plaster
This mirror measures 13 inches from the top of the eagles head to the bottom of the mirror and 10 inches across. There is one small chip in the gold under the left side of the eagles wing and one small chip under the decoration on the bottom of the mirror. The mirror is made of wood with a gold overlay(plaster? Still in original frame with old fashioned maker's label and hand writing on back. Total size is about 15½" x 13.2" Little piece of plaster moulding missing in one corner. Antique Americana Gilt Plaster On Wood Frame Mirrors 1900-1940 Boston Mass.
This is a pair of antique gilt plaster on wood frame mirrors. The mirrors are in the mid size range and measure 16 inches by 12 and 1/2 inches. They are about 1 inch deep and have a horse collar style oval frame. The original backing and stickers are on the back of each. The pair was manufactured by G& A Richards our of Boston Mass. and I estimate the pair to be from the 1920s judging by the glass plate. Backing and tags. There are a few nicks and what looks like white paint on the edge of the mirror but it is minute and lends to the authenticity and aging of the set. This is a great pair for decorating and look stunning when grouped on a wall space. It was used as a wall chandelier in big rooms for adding light to the central chandelier at the ancient time. That tow Candle Mirrors was made c' 1820. At the year 1877 probably the mirror glasses broke or was too dirt and they were replace to the glasses i have. On these glasses a stamp of the firm that replace them and it is dated 1877 at the back(see photo) The frame in Oval shape made from carved plaster artwork design with acantuse leaf on wood on thick iron string. Style Rococo. Dim' size 18" by 31.5" 45 by 80 Cm'One of the glasses is broken at the side(3 by 6 Cm' is missing) The glasses have Stains& spots so I replace them with ... morenew glasses at the front. And the old glasses are attach to the back. The Gold color is restored. Wooden frame with detailed plaster mouldings around border and intricate plaster cartouche at crest. All with gilt finish Glass in good general condition. Gives good, clear reflection but somewhat dusty on close inspection. Backing in good shape. Hanging string firmly attached. Plasterwork in good general condition after some restorations. Some of the gilded plasterwork is missing at the bottom between the two raised sections. The area has been filled in/smoothed and re-gilded(last photo below) Small pieces of plasterwork/beading are missing here and there- all have been softened/smoothed and re-gilded.
