Nice Federal Style Eagle Topped Convex Mirror with 13 Balls representing the original 13 Colonies Made during WWII Era This is a great piece of history. I thought about restoring it and I still might if it does not sell in the next month or so. I just have too many other projects going right now. Back of the glass is dated 1941 as seen in the pictures. Mirro r measures approx. 29" Tall and 22" Wide Antique Convex Glass is in nice shape. I checked it over and did not find any cracks or chips in it. As you can see. The mirrored silvering is starting to wear. I think it adds character and helps show the mirror's age, but you could have it re-silvered to like new condition if that is what you are looking for. The exterior wood rim is in really good shape. There are some small signs of age and use and I imagine transport wear. The ... moreEagle up top is in really nice shape with 1 small spot of plaster that has chippe d. Hard to notice. The wreath at the bottom of the mirror has 1 small chip of plaster as seen in the pictures. There is paint wear on the 13 balls surrounding the mirror. I think that this mirror is unique in that it is not the bright gold finish. It is more of a"copper" or"dull gold" finish. One could refinish it into the bright gold that you see if that is to your liking. It is the"plasterized frame" which means that a small coat of plaster was spread over the wood frame prior to painting Other than that. Please take a good look at the pictures and determine if this mirror is right for you. I have seen these mirrors sell for $250 up to $1.500. Just depends on finding the right buyer at the right time. Vintage Federal Eagle Convex Wood Mirror We are very excited to offer for auction a vintage Federal Convex Mirror. This bulls eye mirror is constructed of wood and measures 25" tall(from the top of the eagles wing to the bottom of knot of the frame) and 17 5/8" at widest point in diameter. The mirror itself is approximately 13" in diameter. The mirror has darkened to an antiqued silvery tone and may even be mercury glass as there is a gray coating visible on the edges of the back side. Due to age there is not a super bright or high reflection off this mirror. The eagle and laurel details are beautifully carved with very nice detail. There is evidence of age but it has a great look and really adds characater to a room. Condition: There are some condition issues and I have taken that into account with my starting price. There ... moreare a some cracks in the gesso and some surface paint loss on the top of the balls as well as the tip of the right wing of the eagle. There are two cracks on the wood backing of the laurel but it does not move and is very stable. It does look like some of the laurel have been re-attached(glued) on the left top side but there are no missing pieces. There is also a repainted area on the right upper portion of the circular frame(I assume to cover some dings) as well a small amount on the laurel that touches that edge. Eagle Mirror (Federal ?) Wood & Plaster
This mirror measures 13 inches from the top of the eagles head to the bottom of the mirror and 10 inches across. There is one small chip in the gold under the left side of the eagles wing and one small chip under the decoration on the bottom of the mirror. The mirror is made of wood with a gold overlay(plaster? Overall in pretty nice condition for it's age. The paper has ripped on the back of the mirror as shown in the photos. This is a federal style mirror done in a copper color. Label says Taunton Massachusettes copyright mcmlix Dart Ind. coppercraft guild. Made in USA. 4007.I believe it to be a Syroco piece. It measures 20-21" high. There is a 11" span on eagle. Largest width is 15" on piece. The material feels like plastic not sure on that. Nice looking piece and is a larger size. Antique hand carved Federal Eagle Convex round mirror in hand carved gilded wood. The mirror looks very old and we believe it to date from the late 1800's. We took lots of pictures so that the people interested can appreciate the way it is made and be able to estimate its age. The frame is all hand carved wood with a gold gilt surface. The convex glass is in excellent condition with very mild interior discoloration from age that hardly shows. The overall measurements are 32" high X 22" wide. The mirror only is 17 1/2" in diameter. As one can see clearly from all our pictures. The condition in general is very good, except for a small part of the eagle's head missing. Unfortunately this is how the mirror was found. I love this curved mirror! It's manufactured by Burwood(see photos) and(REVISED FROM ORIGINAL POST) there is a small scratch on the bottom left which I missed and even though it's in the photos. It's hard to see there as well so I've added a new photo of just the scratch. The mirror itself does have slight'shadowing' but I believe its from age(don't know how old it is) It's approx. 27 inches tall and 12.75 inches at the widest point. Composition: Appears to be some type of ceramic or other synthetic material. Certainly not wood though. Someone at one time wrote the date of Aug-1949 on the back of the frame. Size: Overall Width: 8 1/2" inches Overall Length: 13" inches Mirror Diameter: 5" inches. Condition: Mirror appears to be slightly darkened or cloudy. Still displays quite well. Back panel may have been replaced at one time. A little of the gold coloring is worn off at places. Though it looks nice like this as it reveals nice aging. A hairline crack in the back of the right eagle wing that does not penetrate the wing and thus does not affect the integrity or look of the frame. No damage noted. Vintage Antique Gold Gilt Cast Iron Federal Eagle Mirror by Iron Art Co.
This is a fantastic gold gilt cast iron mirror with an eagle perched on top and elegant scrolls around the sides and bottom. The metal is excellent. And the gold finish is still shimmery, not dull but probably a little darkened from age, and 100% intact with little wear. The mirror is held in place by three clasps that screw into the frame and blue pieces of felt are positioned under the clasps to protect the mirror. There is a small chip missing from the top edge of the mirror, but it is not visible from the front if the mirror is properly positioned. There is also one tiny scratch in the silver backing on the mirror, but it is hardly noticeable. There is a hanger screwed onto the back for wall hanging. The frame is marked Iron Art Co. Outer measurements are 10 1/2" W x 17" H, and the glass measures 4 1/4" x 10 1/4"

New England Antique Federal Mirror circa 1812 - 1822 Boston Mahogany Old Eagle
A better than average Federal period Mahogany wall mirror with original American Eagle cast in bronze. Retains original gold guilt- not painted- finish. These mirrors were made in the Boston area and were hung prominently in the better homes of their day. Original finish, old repair to the wood. Mirror glass was replaced in the 1930's or 40's. 40" high x 20" wide. Retains original backing boards- one being 16" across the grain. I estimate the age at 1812- 1822 due to the quality and form of the eagle compared with earlier examples. Compare with similar mirrors offered at much higher prices- and they have broken eagles or lesser quality eagles. This was purchased and is currently in New Hampshire. 60 miles from Boston. Overall a very wonderful piece. I love it! I got a good deal- so you get a good deal.

Antique Victorian Convex Gold Gilt Wood Gesso Federal Eagle Framed Wall Mirror
This is a fantastic antique Federal Eagle crested convex wall mirror with 13 balls around the frame signifying the 13 colonies. It is an original antique piece from around the turn of the century. The frame and glass are in excellent condition. Nothing is missing, or broken, the gesso is 100% complete, the crest and decorative piece on the bottom are tightly intact and not loose or cracked, and the mirror doesn't have any missing silver or age spots. The frame might have been re-painted at one time, but if it was, it was long ago and not obvious. Some of the 13 balls have recently been touched up where the paint was chipped(shown in the close-up of the ball) but the touchup paint matches nicely. The gesso has some shallow hairline cracks typical for its age, but nothing is loose. One of the eagle's wingtips has a small area of paint ... morechipped off. There is a new piece of cardboard and new nails on the back along with new eye hooks and a new hanging wire(in my opinion though, the hooks are too small and the wire is too thin so replacements might be necessary. The outer dimensions of the frame are 31" H x 21" W. It will be packed very well. Double boxed, and insured during shipping. It is guaranteed to arrive safely.

Elegant 1850's Federal Mirror with Eagle Top
This mirror is very detailed and elegant. Some details look fragile. For that reason we will not be able to ship the mirror. And you must be able to pick it up in Roseville, California. When purchased I was told it was from the 1850's. It is a dark wood with gold trim. But the gold has a beautiful soft patina. There is a metal tag on the back that reads FURST LINE Second to none Merit Mark. There is one area on the back where the veneering has come off. See last picture) It measures 48 1/2 inches high by 23 1/2 inches wide. Smoke free home. The eagle at the top is broken.

Vintage Bronze Nautical Ships Porthole Convex Colonial Federal Patriotic Eagle
EXCELLENT CONDITION! Large TURNER Federal Eagle Convex Bulls-eye Wall Mirror Bronze Gold w/ Black Accented inner Frame Ring Closest to mirror This is one of the largest mirrors of this type that I have seen. It measures approximately 31" tall/high. 20" at its widest point and is 2 3/4" deep. The concave mirror is of course glass, but the Syroco-like"frame" is composed of a vintage resin-type material that has the finished appearance of gilded bronze gold and painted wood. But, because the frame is actually not wood, this mirror is of substantially lighter weight and therefore, much easier to handle. The mirror was manufactured in the United States by the Turner Mfg. Co. A Chicago company well-known for producing mid to higher quality mid-century mirrors. Turner Manufacturing went of business around 1975. Most likely ... morethis mirror dates to sometime around the 1960s. The mirror's frame displays an eagle. Perched on an urn with outstretched wings. The thirteen spheres around the mirror represent the 13 colonies. Scrolling leaf work and acorns surround the perimeter. The glass of the mirror is clear and in very good condition, with no scratches, cracks or chips. There are a couple of pinprick-size"nicks" on the mirror's surface and a handful of very small brownish, round spots scattered about the mirror's outer perimeter(the next-to-last photo shows one of the spots and a dime, for size perspective- the spot is in the photo's lower right corner) These spots appear to be on the underside of the glass and are completely unnoticed(as are the nicks) unless the mirror is under very close inspection(they're mentioned here in the interest of full disclosure) The surrounding"frame" is also in very good condition. With only some patina and age-related wear to the finish. I have posted lots of photos.
