This is an old first part of the 1900s decorative mirror from a fabulous estate. Most everything in this house was from the teens or 1920s era. The mirror is 22 1/2" by 14" and is some sort of plaster with a gold. Dark burgandy gilt. It has a green and black crest type shield on the bottom. Antique Italian Rococo Style Carved Wood Hand Painted Framed Mirror 20 x 12 1/2
This is an absolutely beautiful Antique Italian Rococo Style carved wood and gesso mirror. Looks like it was carved from a single wood panel and is intricately painted with the most amazing details. So much detail. One would find details like this on a full sized piece of furniture. Hand painted with very intricate details of roses, flowers and the like. Base color is a rich deep creamy gold color which more than likely was originally an oil base white. Detailed with moss green and a profusion of red flowers embellishing this wonderful piece. Nicely varnished in clear giving this piece a wonderful warmth. Stands approximately 20 1/4 inches tall and measures approximately 12 1/2 inches wide and wood is over 1 1/2 inches at it's widest thickness. This was originally purchased by my grandmother who lived for a while in the Russian section ... morenear Knob Hill. ANTIQUE FRENCH ITALIAN ROCOCO BAROQUE ANGEL DEVIL FACE CENTURION WALL MIRROR 57"
ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE MIRROR! We are pleased to offer this UNIQUE. Older vintage(mid 20th Century) French or Italian wall mirror. The exceptional mirror is MASSIVE and measures 57" tall and 40" wide. It features an extremely ornate and intricately detailed frame. The frame(an Italian Florentine type hard foam synthetic) features large acanthus leaves and drapery accents as the primary background. Large cherubs/angels are found on the upper and lower frame center. Centurions/warriors are featured(back profile with no face detail) on each center side. The North Wind face is on each lower corner and a small"devil face" is located on the bottom center of the frame and is surrounded with an acanthus leaf, heart shaped medallion. Centurion helmets, horns and drums are also found in the details as are corded strands which intertwine ... morewith the acanthus leaves. All of the features are accomplished in a very deep relief so there is an abundance of texture to the frame. The frame is finished with an oversized acanthus leaf topper. This is a beautiful frame, exceptionally detailed. The colors are cream or ivory and a rose/purple which are all"glazed" with a golden color. The mirror and frame are in very good condition. There are some very minor paint chips. But they are very hard to notice and can be easily resolved. There is nothing distracting. The glass is beveled around the edges and is free of chips, cracks or discoloration. The backing is paper(looks like it has been replaced) with two fairly new hanging brackets. THE MIRROR IS EXTREMELY HEAVY. The mirror measures as follows: The frame is 57" x 40" It is 3" deep. The mirror/glass is 35" tall and 23" wide. Due to the size. Top has a heraldry type family crest? and flag stripes. Decorated with scrolls. I believe Roses with one rose each side top. acanthus? flowers. Grapes, leaves ormolu? There are 4 dowels with points pointing diagonally. Not sure what they represent. Gold plaster gesso gilted. Plaster gesso over wood ... moreframe and some carved wood I believe on sides with gesso over that. Age distressed but sound and sturdy no major damage nothing missing. Except as noted. Separated 3 places as seen in photos 2 on bottom, 1 on side. This is where the wood joints are. 2 of the dowels do not go in all the way possibly too long. The tips of two pointing upward have some old repair on them. Piece of plaster missing on top end. Seen in photo. Several other minor chips area of plaster loss. Very good overall. Minor to moderate wear. Cracks could be filled in and brighter heavy gold could possibly hide lot of this. The plaster could be repaired or enjoy the way it is. Later glass not beveled. Two of them are a matched pair. They measure 9.5" long by approximately 7.75" across. The third(on the left) measures 13.75" long x approximately 8.25" across. The fourth(on the right) measures 12.25" long x 8" across. Only the fourth is clearly made of wood. I can't be sure what the first three are made of but it resembles wood. French Rococo Louis XV Style Italian Venetian Pearl Seashell Shell Mirror
This shell mirror measures 32 1/2" tall by 20" wide. The mirror is very heavily encrusted with gorgeous premium-quality shells and luscious. Hard-to-obtain mother-of-pearl slices and is very elaborately done. I never know how the design will finish up, as I just do what the hands wish to do. In this case I really loaded up on the shellwork. The mirror itself is a vintage Syroco mirror that is in perfect condition with heavy, thick glass. This will need to be hung professionally using molly bolts due to its weight. Last one for quite some time, as these are SO MUCH WORK and they have also become extremely EXPENSIVE to make. This LARGE vintage Italian Florentine Oval Gesso mirror has a beautiful botanical design going around the edge of the frame. This one dates to around the 1950's– 60’s. This Rococo style frame is wood& composition material. It looks like Barbola around the edges. Condition is very good for the age on this Italian gold frame. There is a lovely uneven patina to the scrolling and inner edge& minor chipping for the age. typical in vintage Florentine) Some of the gold has worn away on the scrolling so you can get a glimpse of the underneath. The flat outer edge that goes against the wall has some chips and fading of the gold, see all close-ups. All in all a nice vintage piece!
