The mirror is topped with a reverse painted scene of an Asian woman. The details on the painting are absolutely stunning. The mirror and painted scene are flanked by carved and turned columns. A Fancy Victorian Tri-Fold Dresser-Vanity Mirror, Brass & Celluloid w/ Woman
For auction is an ornate Victorian tri-fold vanity or dresser mirror. Made of solid brass and celluloid and nicely decorated with a semi-nude woman. Mirror can be used on a dresser top or hung by the chain. Item has beveled glass and is made of solid brass except for the chain, which is steel with brass plating. There are strangely no manufacturer's marks, but it is a top quality item. Each mirror is about 8 x 10 inches, and overall dimensions are about 25-3/4 x 11 inches. Item is in remarkable condition. Celluloid is excellent. Mirror's silvering is excellent. With only a tiny flaw on leftmost mirror(see last photo) Brass could be polished, but I think it looks great the way it is. Exquisite Antique Figural Woman Hand Mirror~Portrait on Glass~Fine Detail~
This is just a stunningly beautiful antique hand mirror found at an estate sale. The metal looks to be brass. But not sure, and is heavily engraved on the handle, and even the edge of the mirror. I'm not sure what to call the woman's portrait. The black part is all glass, and it is completely smooth where her figure is, so I do not know the correct term for how the image is displayed. The total length of the mirror is 12 3/4" The widest part of the mirror is 4" The front of the mirror is beveled, and has some little scratches and some silvering to the mirror. The side with the woman has some little scratches. There is one tiny part to the left of her that almost looks like a tiny silvering also? The metal has some tarnish/oxidization to it. The long handle part is loose, and will spin around. Also possible that the handle ... morecould be slightly warped. I don't see a maker's mark anywhere on this. We have some lovely vanity items on eBay this week. This listing is for a beautiful tri fold mirror. A three part mirror that can be either hung on a wall by its original brass hanging chain or stood up on a vanity. The three hinged panels are of wood with ormolu mounted floral detail and a very decorated clasp to hold the mirror in the closed position. Each panel has its original beveled glass mirror. The silvering is largely intact although there is a little"ghosting" to the left mirror. The entire tryptich mirror is in very good original condition with the only minor issues being that the two celluloid side panels are each very slightly lifted on one edge. On one panel it is the top edge and on the other it is the bottom edge. They are beautifully decorated with a georgeous Edwardian lady carrying a basket of flowers. This wonderful table or vanity mirror was used on my grandmother's front counter in her antique and jewelry store for many years. The note on the back says"Not for sale for trying on Jewelry only" I will keep that note when this mirror sells. She had two similar ones so I am keeping the other one. This one did break and it is in pieces. Part of her right arm is missing. The finish is flaking off of the base cast iron metal. The height with the base is 17 1/2" The mirror is 5 1/2 by 7 1/2" and the figure is 8" The base has also split and does need repair. I think this is a fantastic example of a classic Art Nouveau piece with the flowing gown and her overstretched arms holding the mirror. Antique Marquetry Beveled Vanity Mirror Inlaid Wood Woman On Burro Donkey
Unusual inlaid marquetry wooden hand held mirror with sliding cover inlaid with different woods of a woman side saddle on with a gathering basket on a burro or donkey. This piece is possibly of Spanish or European origin. The zig zag border is is made of hundreds of tiny wooden squares. The base wood is a lighter color and wide grained. Some kind of hard nut tree wood. Perhaps but definitely not walnut. Much lighter with a similar grain. No damage to the scene on the cover, but there is a crack to the wood on the back of the mirror. See 2nd photo. Also a piece of the lining around the mirror at the bottom is absent. Also a couple chips around the inside of the frame that may have been in the making. A fresher nick to the side is evident. It is made to hang on the wall or set on a dresser or vanity free standing. There are three mirrors that are beveled in metal frames. The mirrors themselves. When folded closed, there is a clasp on the side, and the top has a gorgeous cream colored celluloid cover with a woman or Goddess sitting in a tree with petite flowers and holding a musical instrument. Stunning Victorian Trifold Vanity Mirror with Woman's Face in Relief
Absolutely STUNNING and BEAUTIFUL antique trifold portable vanity mirror with a woman's face in relief on the front. I believe it dates from the Victorian era. However it has an"Art Nouveau-style" to it. I bought it years ago at an antique market in Alexandria, Virginia, and the seller told me it was unique. I am sad to part with it but I have no room to store it. Reminds me of a piece that would have travelled with a guest on the ill-fated"Titanic. It used to be covered in gorgeous blue silk velvet, but that has sadly faded away. The back panel and one of the inside panels are made of genuine leather and embossed with lovely pastoral scenes. This auction is for a vintage mid century portable swivel mirror in a heart shape. It is chrome with a heart shaped mirror that is etched with a butterfly at the top and a swallow at the bottom. This mirror is in very good to excellent condition. The mirror finish does show some very faint surface marks when put under the light. But to look at it you would never know they were there. This mirror stands 7 1/4" tall and very compact as back in the day they would use these when they travelled or just hung them up when there was no mirror anywhere. The depiction of the oriental lady perhaps a Geisha girl is just lovely. There is something stamped on the left side in Asian. Perhaps the maker. Then at the bottom it says it was made in China. This is a lovely example of mid century inventiveness. The chrome is overall in very good condition ... moreas well. Please look at the pictures carefully and judge for yourself. 02/07/15. Vintage Art Deco/Art Nouveau Brass Vanity Mirror Reflecting Enchanting Lady Large and Heavy She is 3 pounds and 13 ounces Dimensions: 13" x 9.5" Mirror needs nice cleaning. Should be easy to unscrew back and separate from lady/brass and get underneath brass to give nice/uniform cleaning. There are about 3 teeny tiny scratches that are in the mirror. These would not show up in picture so I cannot point them out. But they are very small and will not detract from piece. There are some"fuzzes" from the quick windex/paper towel use. Please know that these are just paper towel fuzz. Not part of the mirror. Also, The brass could use a cleaning as there are some greenish spots. Some people like this look so I did not clean. I do not know the age of this but the quality of frame backing makes me think it has some age. ... morePlease read my feedback and you will see that you have no worries.
