I got this mirror about 14 years ago at an auction for almost double of what I am asking. It's been in climate controlled storage since. It's a nice large size; about 3 ft 9 inches long and about 17 wide. It appears very old- Italian/Ventian style carved wood. It was gold at one point but is now a silver color. There are signs of age and wear. But overall a very nice piece with no significant issues. Item will be EXTREMELY WELL PACKED and insured. Thanks for looking! The painting, figures, etc. are all original, with very minor touch up on some of the green, which is expected with age. The form of the mirror, with its beautiful scrolling, is reminiscent of a European dutch style and probably made for the European market. This is a very vibrant red mirror with chinoiserie decorations and gilt accents. It is a very beautiful color and size. I don't think the mirror has the orginal backing and don't know if it has the original mirror. If you do some research it looks like they had a cloth backing over the wood. It does have the wire on the back for hanging.There are some small areas that are marked up but overall the mirror is in nice condition for its age.There are 2 metal brackets on the wood frame which you can see in the pictures of the back of the mirror. The lower portion features beveled glass. The glass has been purposefully aged and there are black spots under the glass to give an antique appearance. There are incised brass trim pieces at the corners and in between the glass section and the painted section. The mirror is heavy for its size. There are hangers in place on the back. Hello There! Up for sale is an absolutely STUNNING La Barge Mirror. That measures approx. 4ft X 4ft squared! This is a HEAVY piece that came from my Great Uncle's Boston Antique shop Many, many years ago! It hung in both My Grandmother's home in Brookline, Ma. and in our home in Chestnut Hill, and still has it's original tags on the back. This mirror is stunning and VERY well kept!
