Top has a heraldry type family crest? and flag stripes. Decorated with scrolls. I believe Roses with one rose each side top. acanthus? flowers. Grapes, leaves ormolu? There are 4 dowels with points pointing diagonally. Not sure what they represent. Gold plaster gesso gilted. Plaster gesso over wood ... moreframe and some carved wood I believe on sides with gesso over that. Age distressed but sound and sturdy no major damage nothing missing. Except as noted. Separated 3 places as seen in photos 2 on bottom, 1 on side. This is where the wood joints are. 2 of the dowels do not go in all the way possibly too long. The tips of two pointing upward have some old repair on them. Piece of plaster missing on top end. Seen in photo. Several other minor chips area of plaster loss. Very good overall. Minor to moderate wear. Cracks could be filled in and brighter heavy gold could possibly hide lot of this. The plaster could be repaired or enjoy the way it is. Later glass not beveled. Decorated on sides. art nouveau. Sold as-is condition. dark bronze color over gold. Appears possibly original wood backing. Modern screws holding this in. You supply hanger and wire. DESCRIPTION: Finials Fleur de lis Elaborate wood acanthus leaves are supporting the shelf Wood is just beautifully carved covered with bright gold leaves. The back side is just as beautiful and tells a lot about the workmanship. Cardboard back was taped on the back and it's loose. Nothing to be concerned about it. It looks like the mirror was replaced because is not beveled. MEASUREMENTS: 25" long 10 3/4" wide at widest point( shelf) Inner oval mirror 9" x 7 1/4" It stick out from the wall 4.5" Shelf is 3 3/4" wide at widest point x 8 3/4" long. CONDITION: Minor cracks are shown in last 3 pics. I have counted a total of 15 minor cracks. This is an old vintage mid century or earlier pair of showy French style scroll wood frames with gesso and gold gilt from a beautiful home. Each one is 27" by 16" and the mirror is 9 1/2" The top crest on one has been reglued on and had nails added in back. You can see the glue from front. See photo. Two of them are a matched pair. They measure 9.5" long by approximately 7.75" across. The third(on the left) measures 13.75" long x approximately 8.25" across. The fourth(on the right) measures 12.25" long x 8" across. Only the fourth is clearly made of wood. I can't be sure what the first three are made of but it resembles wood. Vintage Set of 3 Italian Gold Gilt Florentine Rococo Wood Mirror Frames Italy
This is a set of 3 vintage frames/mirrors. The Larger one is app. 6 x 8 1/2 inches in size; 2 smaller ones are app. 3 3/4 x 6 inches in size. They are all Marked with"Made in Italy" on the backside of each one. They date from the 1940's They are all in Very Good Condition No chips. No Knicks, No Cracks! the one small mirror on the left you can see in picture it has a blemish in the backing of the mirror itself from age. could be left as it is or replace the mirror within it! Vintage Italian Florentine Barbola Rococo Large Sunburst Gold Gilt Tole Mirror
This LARGE vintage Italian Florentine Oval Gesso mirror has a beautiful botanical design going around the edge of the frame. This one dates to around the 1950's– 60’s. This Rococo style frame is wood& composition material. It looks like Barbola around the edges. Condition is very good for the age on this Italian gold frame. There is a lovely uneven patina to the scrolling and inner edge& minor chipping for the age. typical in vintage Florentine) Some of the gold has worn away on the scrolling so you can get a glimpse of the underneath. The flat outer edge that goes against the wall has some chips and fading of the gold, see all close-ups. All in all a nice vintage piece! The glass mirror is fine there are no cracks, chips or discoloring. The back has a metal cover someone put over the wood.
