This is a vintage wall mirror. The frame is ornate gold Gesso carved wood. Glass is fairly typical for a vintage mirror(though clearer than average) Upper right corner of frame has a small piece missing(photo#6) That seems to be the only spot where some material is missing. There are cracks throughout the surface of the frame adding to its character. Though it hasn't affected the structural integrity. It feels very solid. This is a large antique oval gold ornate mirror. The frame is made of wood with carved gesso flowers and bows on the edges. I would gu ess it dates f rom 1910- 1940. It measures 16 1/4" x 22 3/4" It has a pretty art nouveau design. There is a sturdy w ire on the back for hanging. The frame might have been repainted at some time. I can't say for sure. Ornate Antique Gold Guilt Gesso Frame Beveled Mirror
This is a gorgeous. Antique, gold, gesso mirror that has been in my family for ages. The frame dates back to the 1880's according to my nana who passed it down to me. This piece has seen some wear and isn't perfect but, nothing that takes away from how gorgeous this piece is. I think any minor flaw just adds to the patina of the piece. The mirror itself is beveled and in beautiful condition for its age. There is hardly a scratch on it which is quite remarkable. The frame measures 20"x 20" and as you can see from the picture. The sticker on the back says"A Treasure Art Product, copyright JACO” I believe that this mirror was manufactured in the 1950’s or 60’s. The mirror is in good shape except for 2 tiny black spots. Circled in red in one of the photos. The frame is 30" by 20" and has 3 hairline cracks, indicated by red arrows, but otherwise is in good shape. It feels very solid and weighs approximately 11 lbs. Exceptional unique detail VERY ORNATE Large 39 1/2" tall x approx. 24 3/4" wide Heavy Wall mirror gold Appears Original paint and patina glass great shape( ignore leaf in 2nd photo) every area and corner etc is very wonderful designs( cant possibly show it all) I believe middle to late 19 th Century or possibly turn of century. Top has a heraldry type family crest? and flag stripes. Decorated with scrolls. I believe Roses with one rose each side top. acanthus? flowers. Grapes, leaves ormolu? There are 4 dowels with points pointing diagonally. Not sure what they represent. Gold plaster gesso gilted. Plaster gesso over wood ... moreframe and some carved wood I believe on sides with gesso over that. Age distressed but sound and sturdy no major damage nothing missing. Except as noted. Separated 3 places as seen in photos 2 on bottom, 1 on side. This is where the wood joints are. 2 of the dowels do not go in all the way possibly too long. The tips of two pointing upward have some old repair on them. Piece of plaster missing on top end. Seen in photo. Several other minor chips area of plaster loss. Very good overall. Minor to moderate wear. Cracks could be filled in and brighter heavy gold could possibly hide lot of this. The plaster could be repaired or enjoy the way it is. Later glass not beveled. For your consideration is this lovely mirror. We are not very knowledgeable on mirrors. But had an antique dealer give an opinion that the mirror was Italian, 1930-40s and gold over gesso. Even at that, we will have to let the experts decide whether or not they agree and are certainly welcome to share knowledge with us. The mirror measures approximately 43-3/4" wide. 34" tall, and 2" thick. The mirror is not beveled. As for condition: The mirror looks to be in excellent condition for its age with very light wear and scratches here and there. It is more of a victorian style framed mirror. The mirror area is free of cracks or breaks. The frame shows a little wear with a few places of gesso coming off. Offered is this gorgeous antique wall mirror! Features a distressed/chippy off white paint. Two generous rose swags, ornate topper, arched top, wood frame and a wire on back for easy wall mounting. Measures about 27.5" tall and 14" wide. This is a very old mirror that has amazing character but is not perfect. There are a couple of areas in the gesso that looks like it has been repaired and some cracking on the back side of the rose swags but those aren't seen or go all the way through to the front. The mirror has some slightly rough edges and has some silvering loss in areas/streaking on the mirror but is to be expected with a mirror of this age. VTG large Wood Gesso Wall Mirror Beveled Ornate Gilded Frame Hollywood Regecy
This is a gorgeous. Opulent wall mirror. The frame is black and old gold and is ornately decorated. It seems to be high quality and the guy I bought it from said it came from a VERY nice estate in Malibu. I have no idea of the age of the piece, but it looks great and it comes ready wired for hanging with heavy duty fixings(in portrait orientation, but no doubt you can get it changed to landscape, if you wish) It is a good size 33 by 20 1/2 inches and the mirror is 25.5 by 13 inches. The mirror has a beveled edge and is in good condition. This large oval mirror came from an auction in Vermont. The auction invoice calls it"guilt shell decorated oval mirror. It weighs about 9 pounds. It measures 31 3/4" high by 21 1/2" wide. The mirror is a little loose. The mirror has a few wear spots. The gesso on the frame has 4 chips and cracks here and there all the way around. There are some marks on the border. The back is signed Cohlnner. Maybe, it's hard to make out, see the 11th picture.

Which is in good condition, with a small spot on the glass from age. We've sold a lot of mirrors over the years, and this is probably the prettiest one we've had to date. I think it must be Gesso, and that the frame has been repainted. ANTIQUE MEDITERRANEAN GESSO GILDED ORNATE WOOD 19 CENTURY 13O YEAR OLD MIRROR Up for your consideration is this really nice antique Mediterranean style gesso gilded ornate wood frame 19th century 130 year old mirror. FEATURES:Made out of wood with a gesso(plaster) Mediterranean leafing style design on the top"handle" and the very bottom part of this 130 year old mirror. The handle looks like the leaves are coming together to form a wreath. And the shape is an almost kidney shape where the middle curves in. Along the rest of the frame it is somewhat contoured with several fine lines, or ridges. The back has the original cardboard liner, but the vast majority of the paper backing/cover is gone. The only thing that remains is along the outer edges. There are several different types of nails that hold this mirror into the frame, some ... morelook like they come from at least 3 different time periods. There are signs on this that just can't be"faked" or duplicated without the passage of many many decades of time and looks very aged. There is an eyelet screw on each side of the mirror with 4 thin braided cords attached for hanging. By looking at this, it looks like the handle was hand-carved out of wood, as it looks very primitive with no uniformity, even the two back support wedges that hold the handle onto the mirror are very different in size. ADD. INFO: Based on the way this mirror was made. You can pretty much be sure- there were not a lot of these made. Antique Gesso Ornate Gold Frame and Mirror Artist
Here is a nice antique gold gesso mirror. It is meant to hang the wide way horizontal but you could also hang it vertically if you changed the wire on the back. It has the original wood slats on the back. These do not make it sturdy and it would need to be shored up by maybe replacing the wood with one sheet of wood to keep it sturdy. The gesso is in good shape for age. I've seen these in much worse condition because gesso can chip so easily. There are only a few spots where it has and I've tried to show them. They could be hidden with a little gold touch up paint. All original condition. It measures about 19 x 27" The mirror is also in good condition for age. Sometimes they have to be replaced. This one does have one spot that looks like a circle with a little circle inside. I have pictured it in the next to last picture. I've ... moreput my finger pointing to it and my camera is in the picture. This will not last very long. It is hard to find these old frames in good shape. They use them for mirrors. Or take out the mirror and use it as an artist frame. A cheap replica at those ever popular home decorating stores charge this much and their stuff is just tacky junk. If you don't want the mirror part, just the frame I will take off $50 since that is the heaviest part and it costs a lot to ship and pack. Let me know and I"ll revise the auction. Discoloration, chips, small cracks, stains, and many more things from age but it's in good condition refer to the pictures for more details The mirror frame is made of wood. Looks to be red wood, refer to the pictures for more details. Wood has been carved into a very nice design, Gilt wood. Means the wood looks like gold, or has been made to look like, luster like gold.
