Gorgeous Rustic Primitive Old Vintage Hand Carved Wood Mirror With Copper Brass
Gorgeous Rustic Primitive Old Vintage Hand Carved Wood Mirror With Copper Brass I brought home a truck load of items from the auction last week. It was a farm estate. And I found some fabulous primitive antiques, as well as boxes and boxes of antique and vintage hardware that I will be listing for a long long time- someone clearly was a woodworker or dabbled in furniture creation or restoration. There’s something for everyone! O.K. I was getting so frustrated that I didn't think that my indoor photos were reflecting the color of this beauty correctly, I just had to run outside to grab some sub-zero accurate shots for you! This one is a beauty. It's a wall minor that is older vintage(if not antique- it's old, but the mirror is not wavy like oldold glass) and it's all hand carved wood, with brass accents on the corners and perimeter, ... moreand a copper pressed copper sheet accent layer on the inside perimeter of the mirror. It's a nice sized mirror- large enough to use, yet small enough to fit just about anywhere. The wood frame measures 9 1/8" wide by 13" tall and the inside opening/the mirror measures 7" by 4 1/2" It has and old rusty wire for hanging at the back- it looks like it may be original and, I think the backside is as interesting as the front. You can see an old browned paperboard at the back of the mirror, and you can see remnants of and old brown paper border that was adhered to the perimeter of the opening at the back. It's dark, and very brittle paper now, chipped off all over, especially the top left corner of it, which is gone. On the paperboard, you can see an old white tag with a red boarder- something used to be written on it, but it's worn in the middle and I cannot read. You can also see hand writting markings in pen- it looks like 37 1/2- 12, but I'm not sure- supersize and see what you think. Beautiful Rustic Primitive Antique Saving Mirror On Wire Wireware Easel Stand Now here's one that you don't see every day! It's a beautiful antiwue shaving mirror in its original wireware stand. The mirror has a scalloped beveled edge- it is very old. As you can see. It's mounted onto the stand in turned to a diamond shape, although the mirror is actually 6" square. On the stand, it is 8 3/4" tall. It weighs 1 1/2 lbs. The stand reaches up and grips it with two wire fingers at the top, and hugs it in a divot at the legs at the bottom- it's very sturdy, and does not move at all inside the stand, even when I tried to force it. There's a brown paper board backing that looks to be original. It is peeling off a little at two of the corners, but is still well attached to the back. The mirros has lots of lines of ... moresilver loss that I did my best to have you see in the photos. It was hard to get them because the mirror actually has a really nice reflection around these lines- so it's still quite useable. In additon to that, there's small chips to the scalloped edge all the way around- on the edge, and very tiny and really hards to see because of the design of the bevel. They are also very consistent with the glass of similar style that I have sold of this age. Please see my close ups. There's no large chips or cracks- no major structural issues at all. From the side, the 3/8" thick glass takes on a green hue. The tin wire has a gorgeous age darkened patina that is so dark and old- it just works with this primitive oldee. A beautiful. Rare, antique all wood mirror. Original glass. This is a Hollywood Regency Federal Style may be Mohogany wood and some pine. It has a lot of detailing. On the top center it has an ornate design with a Beaded Urn with a flame on top and beautiful rosebuds along each side. On the bottom it has little slots and a rose buds on each side. And I estimate that it’s probably from either the late 1800s or early 1900s. This antique(pre-owned) mirror has a wooden frame and wood backing. It looks like the wooden frame was coated with a plaster-like material and then painted black and brown/beige as shown in the pictures. The side of the frame farthest from the mirror is painted black. Then the flat area at the front is painted a beige/brown mottled combination, then a thin strip just inside that is black followed by a brown strip right next to the mirror. This is a very heavy old mirror in a wooden frame. It measures 16-1/2" x 12-1/2" x 3-1/4" in size. The wood is a dark grain. I'm not sure what kind it is. The back is old and crumbles if you pull at it so I did not take it on. It is in place with nails. I would replace the wire before I hung it as it is kind of brittle. There are some blemishes on the mirror as shown in the photos. It is clear, not foggy, but has some crackling to the background but it does not affect the use of the mirror. This is an awesome salvaged door off of an antique bathroom vanity wall cabinet! This is a super old piece with tons of charm! Mirror is old& wavy. So I would recommend using it as a decorative accent piece! Mirror wood was sanded down.original hardware left on it& I added a wood decorative scrolled applique on the bottom of the door& stained it dark! Repainted the door in pure white chalk paint, distressed& given a top coat of protective wax. Measures: 26 3/4" x 22" and comes ready to hang with wire hanger! Antique Rustic Mirror & Hardware Natural Wood Texas Period Piece
it has a natural wooden frame and all of the original hardware. it's a true Texas period piece with history as well. It was found in the home of WH Dodd in Langtry. Texas where my family moved it to Uvalde County. My great grandfather, WH Dodd was the assistant to judge Roy Bean, the hanging judge. the mirror remains as found with all the original hardware and the same mirror. Some of the mirror painting is coming off of the glass in the upper right hand corner. Other than that, its in great condition.
