This is an absolutely beautiful Antique Italian Rococo Style carved wood and gesso mirror. Looks like it was carved from a single wood panel and is intricately painted with the most amazing details. So much detail. One would find details like this on a full sized piece of furniture. Hand painted with very intricate details of roses, flowers and the like. Base color is a rich deep creamy gold color which more than likely was originally an oil base white. Detailed with moss green and a profusion of red flowers embellishing this wonderful piece. Nicely varnished in clear giving this piece a wonderful warmth. Stands approximately 20 1/4 inches tall and measures approximately 12 1/2 inches wide and wood is over 1 1/2 inches at it's widest thickness. Chippendale style 38" x 20" mirror(including frame) mirror itself is approx. 26" x 18" believed to be turn-of-century and no newer than 1920s(based on style, back-board, hooks, etc. and remaining in fine cond. Unseen back is not as"fine, but OK. If I had to take an uneducated guess, I say the wood is possibly walnut. With mirror, it weighs 13.4 lbs. so this supports the walnut premise to some extent. The sticker on the back says"A Treasure Art Product, copyright JACO” I believe that this mirror was manufactured in the 1950’s or 60’s. The mirror is in good shape except for 2 tiny black spots. Circled in red in one of the photos. The frame is 30" by 20" and has 3 hairline cracks, indicated by red arrows, but otherwise is in good shape. It feels very solid and weighs approximately 11 lbs. Up for auction is this gorgeous antique mirror in near mint condition. Mirror has NO cracks. Chips, ghosting, spots or silver loss. Only has a few tiny surface scratches. It is heavy weighing close to 14 lbs and measures with frame 32"×20 1/4" Original stickers on back of frame reading CAROLINA MIRROR COMPANY and directions on how to hang.
