Its beautifully inlaid with SADAF(mother of pearl) The art of inlaying mother of pearl is hard and time consuming. They take dried walnut pieces and are cut to a rough shape of desired object. Then. They are carved by a skilled artisan, creating complicated patterns. Small pieces are cut to form together various shapes- rings, stars, ornaments, mother of pearl is very thin, very fragile and brittle, and not flexible, and that many parts of the furniture need to be slightly curved, which makes it necessary to profile ... morethe mother of pearl in a third dimension, on top of the complicated flat shapes! Then the pieces are glued in place, creating a perfectly uniform, flat surface, flush with the walnut base that holds them. 19th Century American Federal New York Mahogany Overmantel Mirror Beautiful Rare
Description American Federal Period New York Mahogany three panel overmantle mirror with a wooden spread eagle and garlands with gilded leafs would be a great addition to your home. Circa 1820. And originating in New York this mirror is fresh to the market. This mirror was purchased in 1984 from a antique store in Philadelphia as were numerous other pieces that this client is going to consign to us. This beautiful mirror with beautiful water gilding that has been used to cover the eagle and the decorative foilage has a melted appearance to it. The eagle is carved of wood and with a layer of gezo and the water gild applied as the finish. The primary wood of this mirror is mahogany with pine as the secondary. This mirror does retain the oirignal mirror. This American Federal mirror measures 59" in width. 39 1/2" in height. The eagle ... moremeasures 23" in width, 11" in height on the plinth. Condition The overall condition of this mirror is excellent. There are losses to the water gild. On the lower right corner of the mirror there is about 3/4" of the molding missing(see picture) The overall condition of the eagle is. 8 1/2 out of 10. There is shrinkage to the gesso on the back of the eagle as well as on the garland and leaves. The back of the mirror is pristine with the original panels with great oxidation. 19th Century Asian Tested 900 “Silver” Framed Small/Elaborate Mirror, Unmarked
This 19th century unmarked“silver” on wood framed/backed mirror appears to be Asian. But I cannot tell if the figures are Chinese or Korean, or? The chamfered back of this 5 5/8” by 8 ½” by 5/16” mirror could be Islamic in origin as there are no human figures shown, just detailed flowers& exotic birds within a frame of 3 friezes of diagonal lines, leaves& scrolls, repeated circles or orbs. The sides of the mirror have the frieze of leaves& scrolls repeated. There is some loss to the“silver” on the upper left corner& lower edge on the front of the mirror. The front of the mirror cannot have been made in any Islamic culture because it depicts human beings. The many scenes or vignettes of people frame the center mirror which is tarnished& worn, even spotted. The mirror itself is edged with small scallops plus an elaborate ... morescrolled pattern in both upper corners. Cobalt enamel or paint backs 6 of the scenes plus the scrolled patterns at the top of the mirror. Detailed men, women, even one child are shown in each of the scenes engaged in activities such as holding a child, conversing, playing instruments, relaxing, even reading. Near the middle of each side is a section with stylized flowers. The outer frame of this side is wider than on the back& features a running frieze of flowers, scrolled vines& leaves. There is a small applied“silver” hook on the upper back for hanging. Victorian Late 19th Century Pier Mirror
I have a Victorian late 19th century Renaissance Revival pier mirror. It stands 8 feet high 35 inches wide and 4 inches deep in the middle of the mirror. This wonderful mirror was designed to fit between two large windows. But can be used anywhere if you have the ceiling height. The mirror is in good shape with no cracks, which is good for its height. The frame around the mirror does need some restoration. There are some pieces missing as you can see in the photos. I have kept whatever has fallen off while it has been in my possession. The mirror has been painted gold, but from what I can see the mirror is gilded underneath the paint. Please bring 2 people to carry this mirror and a large vehicle to transport it. Thanks

Superb and Most Unusual 19th Century French Wall Hanging Frame in Hand Mirror Shape with Classical Motifs. Putti, etc. This is an unusual item of high quality. The frame is of metal- possibly brass. This has at one time been silver plated but this has since been worn from the front- the reverse shows that the item was once plated. Definitely a wall hanging frame rather than a hand mirror, the ornate front has classical motifs whilst the reverse is flat and has a hanging ring. I would date it to Ca. 1870 and believe it is probably French in origin- but I may be mistaken. The item has a height of approx 30.6 cm. Antique Gold Gilded Deep Round Mirror 19th Century Colonial Williamsburg Style
Exceptional old round mirror in wonderful condition without damage. There is not even any missing decorative gesso. The only minuscule crack I noticed is shown in pic#5 and is certainly in the category of normal for a piece this old. My guess is that it is from the late 1800s up to maybe 1920. Although I am not an expert. Most of my estimate of age is based on the patina of the finish and aging of the wood on the back. The paper dust cover is old but I am unsure if it is original. I know nothing about judging the age of mirrors so I don't know if it is original. There is a short faint line in the glass upon close inspection. The widest point is just over 23" the raised rim on the front is 21" in diameter, the mirror is just over 16" wide and the frame is 4" thick. The gold is more of a matte finish than the pictures, ... moreas the flash of the camera added some brightness. This is a great opportunity to add a featured piece to your decoration, or to include a rarely offered piece to your collection.

Being offered is this antique Victorian(late-1800s) formal wall mirror with reflective surface size of 16"x 19-1/2" And frame size of 31-1/2"x 35-1/2" x 3" thick) It is in obviously old condition, showing age and wear throughout(except the glass mirror which appears clean and may be a modern replacement) It weighs about 18.5 lbs. Antique (19th C?) Wall Mirror w/Intricate Hand-Carved Artisan Figural Wood Frame
My grandparents bought this mirror& frame while antiquing in the Northeast US in the 1940's or 1950's. I would estimate that it's 19th Century. And I recall some talk of it being from a hotel or tavern that was closing down. Carved animal figures at top give an almost rustic look to it. But it has a kind of elegance(the carved'twist' side border and floral center at the top) that make it hard to pin down stylistically. Seems to be one-of-a-kind. As I see nothing like it at all in any Ebay listing, current or completed. Measures 43" high by about 25"at widest point. Dark wood could possibly be a stained cherry. But I'm not sure. The 15" X 27 1/2" beveled-edge mirror itself shows some age. And has a couple of spots that suggest it could me re-silvered or replaced, but there's no damage of ... moreany kind to the frame. I am pleased to offer this spectacular Georgian Mirror Frame from my late Mother's Estate. This dates back to the Civil War Period. And perhaps somewhat older. We are under the impression that it is of English origin. This frame is hand-crafted from Rich Walnut in the Georgian Motif, with a huge hand- carved Crown Crest featuring a Palmette, or Anthemion device, flanked by ornate Foliage. The overall quality and condition is truly first rate, and the carved crest is simply Magnificent. You are bidding on the FRAME ONLY.NO mirror glass. Mom never got around to getting a proper bevelled mirror replacement. For the original which was cracked and turning splotchy when she bought it back in the 1960's in Missouri. Impressive and heavy antique French gilded wall mirror. With wooden frame and applied gilt gesso, totally original, from a bourgeoise maison in Bordeaux. The outer edge is a lovely array of curled acanthus leaves with open wood work. The inner edge around glass is a lovely garland of small roses and flowers. There are some cracks and minor loss of gesso. All commensurate with age, adding to the vintage charm and authenticity. The mirror is gently silvered and still in very good condition for an item this age. It still carries its original twisted hanging cord at the back. Rare Antique Early 19th Century Mahogany Wall Mirror Carve Wood Brass Hardware. We are listing a very special early 19th century wall mirror in excellent condition. This mirror represents the best of the early craftsmanship of cabinetmakers long gone. This was from our personal collection the we have enjoyed for the last 50 years. We are downsizing and this is one of the pieces that has to go. It was refinished when we first acquired it and has been hanging with pride in our home all these years. The top crown of the mirror is decorated with tiny acorns all across the front. There are 21 of the tiny acorns, two are missing. Most of the framework on the mirror is made of mahogany and decorated with some cherrywood. The bottom mirror is original and has some tiny black wear spots. The top mirror has been replaced a long time ago, the five brass ... moremedallions are located on the edges and center top of the mirror. The top board of the crown was cracked and reglued when we got it, we have never done anything else with the crack and is still exposed, you can see it from the top only. There are a couple square handmade nails original, holding the crown to the frame. The patina on the back of the mirror is original and the color is to die for! The original hand chafed wood boards covering the mirrors are still on the frame. The size of the mirror frame is 39 inches tall, by 23 inches wide at the top, by 19 1/2 inches wide at the bottom. The top mirror is 8 1/2 X11!2" The bottom mirror is 11 1/2 X 17 1/2" If you have been looking for a quality antique wall mirror to decorate your home, you may want to give this one some thought. Stunning antique Neo Classic Adams Style mirror, 19th c
This stunning Neo Classic Adams style mirror has a lot going for it: the top has a medallion with two cherubs leaning on a tree. With gilt swags and garlands going down the side of the mirror. The bottom has two brocades(one slightly bent) completing the piece. The mirror part is showing the age of the mirror, the middle of the 19th century, with loss of silvering and a general dullness of the glass. This can of course be replaced, but is often very desirable. Measurements are: 36" tall and 18" wide. Sight size is 23 ½" tall and 12 ½" wide. Condition is as described: a bend to one swag, there is a small piece missing from the top gesso and the silvering on the mirror is compromised. The Adam style was a refinement of the preceding Georgian style. Robert Adam was a dominant force in English architecture. Roman ... moreinfluences. This vintage piece comes from sometime in the early 1900's as do all of the pieces I am selling. The mirror is striking, beautiful, and magnificent when you first see it, just as you saw it for the first time here. It both commands you and invites you to look at it. The corners of the mirror come with Victorian Woodland Finials while the top of the piece features an elegant but not gaudy wood carving. You are bidding on an authentic 19th century Louis Philippe mirror. The authenticity has been verified by the importer who has been working in European antiques for 30+ years.
