Antique Federal Brass/Bronze Mirror
This is an outstanding brass/bronze federal period mirror in original(as found) condition. The mirror has many interesting parts. At the top is an American Eagle perched on an oval(1.5" by 2" containing what appear to be the remnants of a heraldic crest. Under the crest is a larger oval 8.5” by 6.75" mirror also in original untouched condition. At the bottom of the mirror is a thirteen star shield representing the 13 original colonies. The back of the shield reads“Design Patented Nov. 25 1862” In total. The mirror measures 19" by 11.5” and weighs about 7.5 pounds. It measures 12" x 7.5" It also has an original hanging ring to the rear if you wish to the utilise it as a hanging wall mirror. For it's size. It is quite heavy ~ weighing 1.5kgs The frame has beautiful Champleve enamel decoration on a French blue ground. And is finished with elaborate ribboned floral decoration to the top and bottom. I think the frame and decoration is made from bronze, possibly originally gilted. The frame and all the embellishments are in very good condition, with no damages. Antique Oval Small Mirror Frame Bronze Brass? Very Heavy, Ornate, Foundry Mark
This is a very old and very heavy frame. Probably made in the late Victorian era at the end of the 19th century, or the very early 20th century. It is marked on the back 217 and in another place it looks like NB+NY- not sure about this mark, the second part is hard read. Might be NV or even IW. I believe it is bronze or brass. I have seen this frame in a larger version many times in cast iron, and those are heavy, but this one is REALLY heavy. You may have seen frames like this that are usually a foot tall or more. This is a little guy. Only 9" tall and 8" across. The frame has been fitted with a mirror which is newer. There are 3 little tabs that more easily on the back. And you could replace the mirror with glass and use it as a picture frame if you wanted. I think this frame probably had an easel-back at one time so that you ... morecould use it on a table. That has not survived the last 125 years or so. This is suitable for hanging with 2 small screws that would hold each curved piece at the top. This is great for any place you want to add a little reflection, especially nice in a grouping of mirrors. Antique French bronze mirror with easel stand
Found in France. This lovely mirror is a study in aesthetic design. The frame is a simple oval. With around it a twisted rope motif and around that a continuous cord that is wound around the piece in graceful swirls, embellished with bronze flower decorations. The actual mirror is original to the piece and has a beautiful bevel with small“teeth” ground into the bevel. It dates to the last quarter of the 19 th century. The piece is in remarkable condition: there are some scratches to the glass and one of the small clips that holds the mirror backing in place is loose. No other flaws. This is a solid cast brass pedestal mirror. The mirror pivots with a magnifying mirror on the other side. It stands 15" tall. Measures 8 1/2" side to side with the mirrors being 7" in diameter. The base is a cherub sitting on a flower surrounded stump holding a cornucopia that supports the mirror swivel. The entire metal surface. In the nooks and crannies, has a greenish blue verdigris that may have been added later if not part of the original manufacturing process. I do not know the origins of this mirror. It was part of an estate. There are no identifying marks that I can locate. The mirrors have a few minor flaws such as a small scratch and a few small spots on the regular mirror. This lovely mirror measures 9 x 12 inches. It is very heavy. Possibly iron? bronze? It has a piece of wire attached so it was obviously used on the wall. it original would have a little swing"foot" at the bottom so it could sit on a table. Here is a fabulous very old Antique 19th Century Ornate Bronze Standing Dressing Table Shaving Mirror featuring Griffins. Cherubs, reticulated foliage, a torch top; all sensational. ANTIQUE VICTORIAN ORNATE BRONZE CHERUB VANITY MIRROR 13 1/2" X 12" X 2 3/4"
Offered for your consideration is this beautiful ornate bronze mirror. I believe it is bronze since my magnet does not stick to it. Although my magnet is not the strongest. It does stick to the screws on back but not to any other part on the mirror in the slightest bit at all. I know brass is slightly magnetic and bronze is not(based on what I read on line) This measures 13 1/2" high X 12" wide X 2 3/4" deep. The width is measured including the knobs on the side that screw on and off. This is a gorgeous mirror that can compliment many styles such as art nouveau, victorian, shabby chic. the list goes on. When I ship I will be taking the knobs off so I can fit it in a large flat rate box. They will screw back in, but be forwarned, that you have to spin them a little until they line up correctly. They will screw in once you find ... morethe spot. One screws in a little further than the other. I just don't want them damaged in the shipping. I've compared some of the mirrors on line. This one seems a little bigger. The screws on back are standard flat screws rather than phillips head which is an older type screw. As stated in the condition description. I believe the back has been replaced. I do not think the back is the original. I really think this is an older one. Look at the pics up close. As stated in the condition description I have not cleaned this, because I am uncertain what would be considered patina and desirable to the collector. I will leave cleaning up to the buyer. Up for bids is this Antique Late 19th Century Victorian Gilt Bronze Bacchus Beveled Mirror Wall Sconce. The head of Bacchus. The Wine God is portrayed at the top of the Sconce. There are 3 candleholders. The beveled glass mirror is framed with a detailed 1 inch band which is surrounded by 1/3/4 inch bronze fancy open work. This bronze mirror is extremely well designed and made, far superior than the cast iron ones. Please see the photo of the workmanship in of the back in our last 2 photos. There is a round bronze ring all ready for you to hang in your home or office. Measurements: 18 inches high x 10 7/8" across from end of one candleholder to the opposite candleholder end. Antique FRENCH Neoclassical Grecian HAND MIRROR Brass Gilt Bronze PRECIOUS STONE
This is an antique French hand mirror in the Neoclassical Grecian style. I believe this to be a combination of gilt bronze/brass metal. The design is on mahogany wood. And is encrusted with precious stones. The top stone is a purple Lindy Star Sapphire, and the bottom two stones are Jade. This is most likely from the period 1880 to 1900's, but actual age is unknown. The mirror has been replaced and is not original. In great condition and I have personally owned this for the last 30 years. No markings seen. Measurements: 9.5" long by 4.5" diameter at the widest point. Condition: very good condition.
