Small Shabby 23"x15" Antique Art Nouveau Gesso & Wood Petite Gold Gilt Mirror
Original early century art nouveau frame which measures 23" high and 14-5/8" wide in good strong condition over-all. As can be seen in the close-up photos of the top. There is a separation in the gesso(and this could be an over-lay of carved wood rather than gesso- can't tell for sure as the finish is adhering quite well and this separation does not weaken or compromise the integrity of the mirror- it's still retains its strength) The mirror, when seen from the bottom looking up, is a bit wavy. It may be and probably is the original mirror. As can be seen on the back there was moisture on the finish piece and the mirror is not affected by this. The wire on the back is doubled and old. but looks like it will serve its intended purpose for some time to come.

This is a fine antique Victorian era mirror in gold gilted Gesso. As you can see in the pictures most of the gesso work is near perfect for its age, in the last 2 pictures it may some aging(minor fissures) but nothing that is really noticable. The mirror came from the same estate as the table its on(not for sale) and the piece is an excellent example of that era, mirror has no flaking or crazing of any kind, I CANNOT include freeshipping on this item because it must be packed well and carefully so no damage occurs, must be insured as well, dimensions are 28" 1/2 inches wide x 20" 1/2 inches high measured by mirror, a little higher if on center because of ornate top, so add about another 4" inches if you are interested in on center. ANTIQUE MEDITERRANEAN GESSO GILDED ORNATE WOOD 19 CENTURY 13O YEAR OLD MIRROR Up for your consideration is this really nice antique mediterranean style gesso gilded ornate wood frame 19th century 130 year old mirror. FEATURES:Made out of wood with a gesso(plaster) Mediterranean leafing style design on the top"handle" and the very bottom part of this 130 year old mirror. The handle looks like the leaves are coming together to form a wreath. And the shape is an almost kidney shape where the middle curves in. Along the rest of the frame it is somewhat contoured with several fine lines, or ridges. The back has the origianal cardboard liner, but the vast majority of the paper backing/cover is gone. The only thing that remains is along the outer edges. There are several different types of nails that hold this mirror into the frame, some ... morelook like they come from at least 3 different time periods. There are signs on this that just can't be"faked" or duplicated without the passage of many many decades of time and looks very aged. There is an eyelet screw on each side of the mirror with 4 thin braided cords attached for hanging. By looking at this, it looks like the handle was handcarved out of wood, as it looks very primitive with no uniformity, even the two back support wedges that hold the handle onto the mirror are very different in size. ADD. INFO: Based on the way this mirror was made. You can pretty much be sure- there were not a lot of these made. I finally decided to part with my great aunt's antique heavy ornate wall mirror. Antique Gold Leaf Wood& Gesso Wall Mirror. This mirror is just gorgeous and has been well maintained. The glass is in good condition.no chips. No cracks, no hairlines etc. The mirror needs to be cleaned. I have limited space, and that's why I'm selling it. There is a small water damage on one corner at the top right but when it's hanging the wall- no one can't tell. One corner of the mirror the same top right- a portion of wood approximately 1/2" x 1/2" wood came off. My mom. One time, when the gold was oxidized from age, had it restored with new gold leaf sheets. It hangs on the wall with wire which is intact. Mauves, yellow, blue, and green, an off antique white lace like b ackground. Pink edging on inside of frame, the frame itself is a greenish color, and a glass mirror insert. The flowers appear that they might of originally been some type of silk arrangement that has a clear coating over it to make them stiff and also has a green vel vet ribbon accent. Back of the frame has two(2) metal rings and wire for easy hanging on a wall or door. Measures overall 12 1/2"in. wide. 1 4 1/2"in. tall. And 3"in. deep. Large Antique Original Rococo Revival Wall Mirror: Gold Gilt Gesso; c 1840-70
This period Victorian Rococo Revival wall mirror dates from c.1840-1870. It is conducted of wood covered with gold gilt gesso. There are ornate carvings of floral designs(see pictures 4-8) and four desirable grape clusters(see picture 8 for an example) And the scrolled crest is very detailed and certainly accents the remainder of the frame. The mirror and frame is in good original found condition. The mirror itself is in very good condition with no known cracks or other damage. The wear is consistent and appropriate for the age and use. There are some minor chips of gesso and one section(see picture 9) has some small breaks in the gesso. In picture 10, there is one piece that would need to be reattached. The gold gilt paint is consistent over the entire frame and is still a good vibrant color. The original back is wooden and has the original ... morehanging wire( see picture 11) The approx. measurements are: 69" L; 32" W; and sets out from the wall a maximum 11 3/4" With a minimal amount of restoration, this period mirror would be the focal point in any setting. Description: Up for Sale is a beautiful Federal style Colonial Eagle convex“bullseye” or girandole mirror with 13 cannonballs surrounding the mirror for the 13 original American Colonies. The frame is made of wood and sculptured gesso with a gold finish. From the construction I would guess it is from the late 1800s to the early 1900s. It measures approximately 36" tall x 22 1/2" across with the mirror being approximately 18" across This item is pre-owned with normal wear you would expect on a piece of this age. It looks like a portion of the laurel wreath/vine on one side of the eagle has been repaired and the same goes for one part of the flourish below the mirror. The gesso is otherwise free of breaks or chipping but it looks like the paint has been retouch over the years in a few spots. The mirror is free of breaks. Cracks, ... morechips or silver flaking. Ornate Antique Gold Guilt Gesso Frame Beveled Mirror
This is a gorgeous. Antique, gold, gesso mirror that has been in my family for ages. The frame dates back to the 1880's according to my nana who passed it down to me. This piece has seen some wear and isn't perfect but, nothing that takes away from how gorgeous this piece is. I think any minor flaw just adds to the patina of the piece. The mirror itself is beveled and in beautiful condition for its age. There is hardly a scratch on it which is quite remarkable. The frame measures 20"x 20" and as you can see from the picture. Listed for your consideration is this beautiful Antique 1930's Wood and Gesso Framed Mirror. What a wonderful size. It measures approximately 20-1/2"in length and 12-1/2" in width. The frame is a deep green and antique gold color. The mirror has a beautiful arched floral and leaf motif. The silvering is in good condition with the exception of a few faint streaks. Antique turn of the century Gold gesso wood framed keyhole shaped mirror..
Very old gesso covered wood framed keyhole shaped wall mirror.It's somewhere around the turn of the century or very early century.It has a keyhole shape with upraised florals and braided edges.All gesso.But the edges have fallen off a good deal of the bottom area.And a couple of places along each side too.It is fragile. The good news is the florals and the larger gesso accents are intact(mostly)Both of the bottom designs have cracks(see photos) but the others seem solid.The glass is in good shape to for something older than 100 years.It's still a very nice piece. I really hope it goes to someone that has the knowledge and the patience if not the skills to at least keep it from further deteriorating.It is Gorgeous but I am afraid to keep it for fear of doing further damage to it. Gesso and wood framed mirror with barbola flowers. The mirror and antique frame are in very good/excellent vintage condition. Mirror appears to be in perfect condition- no visible signs of defect. Gilded frame shows distress from age. In some areas the gilded material has flaked off and there cracks along the frame. But this certainly adds to the vintage and shabby appeal of this antique Victorian piece. Excellent Antique Art Deco Gold Gilt Wood & Floral Gesso Framed Wall Mirror
This is an excellent antique wall mirror in a wooden gold gilt frame with floral gesso accents and border all the way around. It looks like the gold was re-painted and there is only one tiny chip missing from the frame and one spot that was touched up. Otherwise, it is near-perfect. The mirror is also excellent, thick and heavy, crystal clear throughout, with only a few small black spots from age. The paper is intact on the back and there is a wire attached for wall hanging. The outer dimensions of the frame are 14 1/4" x 29 1/2" I will pack it very well, double box it, and insure it during shipping.

Antique Gilt Mirror Religious Etched Saint lady Gesso Holy Water Font Florentine
On sale this week is a beautiful old acid etched mirror. Depicts what looks like a saint. You can see the halo over her head. Lovely long flowing gown with flowers on both sides. She is holding something but I'm sure what it is. The frame is awesome. Nice patina on this old gilt. Made of a very lightweight wood/gesso material. It has a holy water font on the front. I'm sure it would have had a liner of some sort at one time but is now missing. I kept some Rosary beads in there. Please check out all of the photos to help with the description. There is some natural crackling from age and where someone had hung with a wire it has thinned on the middle area. Vintage Federal Convex Eagle Mirror Bulls Eye Gesso on Wood
Vintage Federal Eagle Convex Wood Mirror We are very excited to offer for auction a vintage Federal Convex Mirror. This bulls eye mirror is constructed of wood and measures 25" tall(from the top of the eagles wing to the bottom of knot of the frame) and 17 5/8" at widest point in diameter. The mirror itself is approximately 13" in diameter. The mirror has darkened to an antiqued silvery tone and may even be mercury glass as there is a gray coating visible on the edges of the back side. Due to age there is not a super bright or high reflection off this mirror. The eagle and laurel details are beautifully carved with very nice detail. There is evidence of age but it has a great look and really adds characater to a room. Condition: There are some condition issues and I have taken that into account with my starting price. There ... moreare a some cracks in the gesso and some surface paint loss on the top of the balls as well as the tip of the right wing of the eagle. There are two cracks on the wood backing of the laurel but it does not move and is very stable. It does look like some of the laurel have been re-attached(glued) on the left top side but there are no missing pieces. There is also a repainted area on the right upper portion of the circular frame(I assume to cover some dings) as well a small amount on the laurel that touches that edge. Up for auction is this exceptional 19C Walnut and gesso mirror. This is truly a rare find. Mirror measures a large 56 5/8" l x 33 3/8" h x 2" d. It has a three panel wood back. We put a sturdy wire across the back to hang. Of course. This mirror could be mounted either vertical or horizontal. Just an exquisite design with oak leaves and acorns. A stately work of art. Beautiful attention to delicate detail. A rich appearance while being understated. So many large mirrors I have found are either too plain or tend to be- well- a bit garish! This is a nice balance of beauty and great workmanship. As it dates to the 19C, it is not perfect and should not be. Excellent Antique Gold Gilt Wood & Gesso Framed Rectangular Beveled Wall Mirror
This is an excellent antique rectangular wall mirror with an elegant gold gilt wooden frame with floral gesso accents. Both frame and mirror are in very good condition. There is no missing gesso on the frame. But it does look like it was re-painted a few times. The paint is a nice, rich, metallic gold that is smooth and even, and a good color for the age of the mirror. The glass is beveled and seems heavy and thick, images are clear throughout, but it has a faint streakiness to it with a few tiny specks of missing silver. The back has been re-covered with paper and there is a wire for wall hanging. The outer dimensions of the frame are 17 3/4" L x 31 3/4" H, and the mirror measures 14" x 26" I will pack it very well, double box it, and insure it during shipping.

Antique Victorian Gold Gilt Wood Gesso Framed 3 Section Etched Wall Mirror
This is a stunning Victorian wall mirror with an elegant gold gilt wooden frame with gesso accents that is separates the mirror into three sections. There is a beautiful floral and stripe border etched into the back of the glass on each end. The mirror is in good condition overall with a few small spots of missing silver and faint cloudiness in a few areas. But mages look crystal clear throughout. There are some shallow scratches and scuffs on the far right mirror section that is slightly visible in the photo of that section. The frame is excellent with no missing gesso. The gold finish looks very good with only a few touch ups that were done in matching paint and are not obvious. There are a few tiny chips of paint missing, but they are not noticeable unless closely inspected. This is a long mirror, measuring 54" L x 18" H. There ... moreis a wire on the back for hanging, but it is a little bit long and is visible when the mirror is hung. The paper backing is no longer intact, but the cardboard panel is there and there are small square nails all the way around holding the cardboard and glass in place. I have wedged some extra cardboard pieces behind some of the nails that were touching the glass, and I will make sure to fill in any loose spots or exposed glass on the back with extra cardboard before shipping. I will place pillows over the top, wrap it well, double box it, and insure it during shipping.

This mirror is just in from France. The frame is made of a dark chestnut wood with an oval gesso inset that frames the mirror. There are large gesso cartouches at the top and bottom of the mirror. The frame dates from the beginning of the 20th century. The mirror part is a recent addition. The style is Louis XV. The piece is in very good condition with as only flaw a slight separation at two of the corners of the wood frame. Obviously time has played with the wood and it is no longer a seamless fit. The mirror has great appeal and the wood has a wonderful patina. It is quite a remarkable piece!
