This is an 18th century piece of French faience. The bowl measures 11.58" across and is 3.5" tall. It has cracks that go all the way through. Cracks that don't, some crazing and some chips around the top edge. It has not been repaired and is being sold as is. The old paper taped to the bottom was there when I got it. The major cracks are at 11, 1, 2 and 9 o'clock and I've tried to show them in the pictures. The top edge has wear almost all the way around. Happy to answer all questions. I love this bowl-the detail in the transfer is perfect. Technically. I now it could be either factory, but something says Worcester to me. There is a hairline, but it is minor and the piece displays beautifully. It is 8.35 inches in diameter and 3.5 inches tall. There is wear, but it is commensurate with age. Spanish or Portuguese tin-glazed or faience pottery serving dish made during the 1700s. The dish is in a basin form, with a very wide, flat rim and a shallow bowl in the center. This is a very large piece of good weight. The whole dish is done in shades of blue, from very light to cobalt. There are wonderful, swirling flowers and scrolls as well as a thickly beaded or scalloped rim. A large piece of felt has been applied to the bottom of the piece to avoid scratching. This piece is very. But the overall condition is quite good. There is some variation in the blue shades of paint along the rim, some places are a darker shade, but this is not a repair. There is no makers mark, but a small iron-red mark on the inside of the foot rim. This is a beautiful antique 18th C pearlware punch bowl with a handpainted cobalt design. This piece came from the local estate of a man that collected 18th century pieces for his Philadelphia home. Which was built pre-1800. He had a description of this piece in his files that was"hand thrown 18th Century China White punch bowl made and designed by Dr. Woll in his basement in 1760. Dr. Woll's was one of the founders of what later became Royal Worecester. Since the piece is unmarked, we have no way of verifying any of this information, but someone out there might.The punch bowl measures approximately 10" wide and 4" tall. Antique 18th Century Dish 1700s Clamshell Shape Painted Rose Gold Gilt Edges
I purchased this on ebay about 10 years ago when I was collecting. This particular dish is very beautiful but doesn't fit as well with my English and German bone china collection of tea cups and small plates. I was told that this was 1700s- 18th century. There is a banner in between the L and the S which looks like it might say Limoges but i am unsure. i tried to research the mark but couldn't find it at the moment. There is crazing but the piece is gorgeous. Obviously very very old. There are two small chips under the one edge which you don't see from the top. There is wear to the gold gilt around the outer edges but gives the piece character. Clamshell shape- Large curved dish- sort of a hybrid between a dish/plate and a bowl. Pastel stem of two roses in the center. Scalloped decorative edges with scrolls- Baroque style. I am ... morenot sure who makes this- the mark can be seen in the photos. 18th Century 11 1/2" Spanish Talavera Majolica Earthenware Bowl Charger
I have for you consideration an 18th Century Spanish Talavera Majolica Earthenware Bowl. This is a very good example of an early Talavera earthenware bowl with a ruffled edge. The interior surfaces are glazed in shades of green. Yellow gold, ochre, accents of indigo and manganese brown which outlines the all over creamy white background. This bowl is a bit oval in shape. Measuring just over 11 1/2" at it's widest, 2 1/2" deep. Majolica and fiance were made at Talavera de la Reine and at neighboring Puente del Arzobizso in Castile from the early 16th Century. No factory marks were ever used. They developed an original style of painting. The colors were dominated by powerful green. Canary yellow and a thick orange and to some extent by a heavy blue. Horseman, hunting scenes, building, trees, animals, birds, figures and coats of ... morearms were much favored motifs. This bowl is in remarkable shape for it's age. Does show some firing flaws and wear from age. The only visible damage is the hairline that is pictured and the small piece that is missing at the edge hairline. This hairline is very tight and bowl when tapped has that high pitched ring. Please view the 12 photos provided for a closer look as they serve as the most important part of the description.
