Two small chips. Border with heart shaped leaves. This is transferware. And a delightful piece of French history. 10 ½ diameter 26cm diameter l lb 6 oz 620g To make transferware. An involved process began with a design etched on a copperplate like an artist would make for an engraving. The pattern from the copper plate was printed on paper with glaze. Then the paper was placed, by hand, on the ceramic piece to transfer the glaze. The earthenware. Porcelain, etc. was then fired in a kiln.
