Antique White Ironstone Wash Basin and Soap Dish From Ironstone China Chamber Set Here is an antique white ironstone china wash basin and soap dish from a Victorian era bowl and pitcher chamber set. It is heavy ironstone. Both pieces marked"Ironstone China Warranted" in blue underneath. The blue maker's mark also features two standing lions. See the photos for a closeup look. The edges of the bowl are scalloped. The bowl measures a little over 10" diameter and 3 1/2" tall. The soap dish is 3 1/2" by 5 1/4" by 1" The glaze has crackled with age and the body is stained. As shown in the photos. It can be made white again, but I've left it alone and priced it low enough to allow for cleaning. There are no hairlines or chips in the bowl. Original Antique Wash Bowl Basin Blue White Hand Made North Carolina Family Item
This antique wash bowl has been sitting on my mother in law's antique wood washstand in her smoke/pet free home for the past 60 years. In attempting to date this antique. I know my mother in law was born in 1928 and the bowl was passed down to her from her mother. We don't know how much further the bowl dates back, so a conservative estimate would be around the turn of the century. The bowl measures 12.25" across top. 5.5" across base and 3.25" high. There are no company markings on the bowl and it appears hand made. You can see in one of the photos how the blue coloring ran down the side in one section. Also, you can feel the texture difference where the white ran down the sides in some places. Although the decorative blue and white front and inside of bowl are beautiful, when you look at the underside it looks like ... morethe person who made this bowl was a little"messy" I don't know enough about antiques to use a more professional exact term. There are no chips or scratches to the entire blue inside and rim. There are a couple chips on the rim of the base. This bowl weighs nearly 4 lbs before wrapping. Absolutely beautiful. Big and detailed English wash bowl or basin, excellent high relief Lily of the Valley by Anthony Shaw, Burslem, and backstamped accordingly, Measures 14" in diameter. 4-1/2" high Small area of toning in the inside bottom. About the size of a quarter, faint. We did not try to clean but you could of course. Some crazing which is not unexpected in antique ironstone of the era Ca. 1860s. Staffordshire, England based on backstamp. Note that this was a quick stamping job- almost a double image and a thin black line from"Burslem" which is not a hairline but ink. Other than what's mentioned. No cracks, chips, missing glaze, other staining, hairlines, flakes, repairs, etc. Typical bluish cast to the glaze which is bright and shiny. Hard to photograph without getting some glare and light. And details were ... moredifficult as well. Photo 3 is converted to black and white to bring it out better in a photograph. Excellent size. For display or use. We serve steamed shrimp or salads in ours and use for centerpiece at holiday times with floating candles, pine cones, Easter eggs, gourds, etc. Perfectly food safe, but avoid the dish washer. Ironstone Wash Basin - Blue and White Rural Scene Believed to be Staffordshire
Thank you for looking into our auction of an IRONSTONE POTTERY WASH BASIN WITH A BLUE AND WHITE RURAL PATTERN BELIEVED TO BE STAFFORDSHIRE TRANSFERWARE POTTERY. This is an old used bowl. That is in very good used condition, especially considering its age. There is nothing on the bowl to tell where, when or by whom this bowl was made. Having tried to research it, and comparing it to other similar bowls, I have come to a belief that it may be a piece of Staffordshire Transferware Pottery, probably from the 1800s. I have looked at seemingly hundreds of Stafffordshire patterns, many of which have similarities to this pattern, but I have been unable to find an exact duplicate to the pattern. That may be because of the fact that there were probably thousands of transferware patterns made over the years. The paint on the basin/ bowl is in fine condition. ... moreThe top side of the bowl has some fine utensil scratches in it, but you really have to be looking at the bowl closely, from a particular angle to see those marks. The lower side of the bowl shows some signs of crazing, but that should be expected from an old piece of pottery. There is one chip about 1/2 inch long at the edge of the rim of the bowl, and directly underneath that chip, there is another chip on the underside of that rim. Opposite those chips, on the other side of the bowl, there is a very fine crack, which can only be seen from the underside of the bowl. And, finally, there are several chips out of the base ring that the bowl sits on. Those chips, for the most part, are on the inside of the ring, so very few small ones show up when the bowl is sitting on a table. Well this one is a puzzler: the wash basin bowl has the marking& symbol E.E.P.CO. written above a crown(all in a circle) porcelain written below the circle(shown in pic#3) after very extensive research I found it(YEAH) East End Pottery Co. East Liverpool, OH USA, date 1894-1908; the pitcher has the markings of Royal Crown Derby Co. roman numerals XI? which dates it 1948-1951 or 1956 as I have tried to show in pic#5. Both items are in excellent antique condition w/ no chips or cracks. The wash basin has some crazing but it is not noticeable really. It measures 16" diameter x 4" tall& the pitcher is 10" diameter x 12" tall. These are absolutely fantastic pieces that you need to see to believe! From an estate auction. A very large white ironstone wash basin or bowl. It measures 16 inches across, and 5 inches high. It weighs just over 7 pounds. The bottom is stamped"C.P. Co. Warranted(something) Porcelain. Sorry, couldn't make out the word in front of"Porcelain. Given its size. I imagine this bowl was used along with a pitcher as a wash basin in pre-plumbing days. It was made by C.P. Co. also known as Crown Potteries of Evansville, Indiana. Given its age, it's in great condition. It does have a number of brown spots, and two teeny-tiny little nicks on the underside of the top edge. The bottom has some very fine crackling, but you have to look close and hard to see it. Solid white ceramic wash basin measures 14" in diameter x 4" deep. Unmarked, circa 1920, very likely Ohio origin. Like all utility ware pieces from this era, stilt marks can be seen top and bottom along with some glaze pops. Features wide rim for easy carrying. No cracks or repairs, tight crazing throughout. The factory was purchased by Villeroy& Boch in 1921 and closed in 1931. Many marks were used. Most including the name Bonn. The initials FM. Large White Vintage Antique Water Pitcher ,Wash Bowl Basin, Jar Vase Signed
This a a grouping of 3 pottery pieces that make up a beautiful Large Water Pitcher Wash Basin Bowl set. The three pieces match well. All are white with rubbed gold accent. And all are signed. The pitcher is marked on the base with the Vodrey& Brothers label from Liverpool, Ohio. Sons of a Staffordshire potter, they produced white ware table and toilet ware from 1876-1926. The pitcher is in very nice condition. There is some crazing, a few small signs of silt(see photos) There are at the base rim 3 thin flake/chips. No cracks, that I could see. The large Bowl and Jar/Vase are marked St Paul on the base. I could not find anything on this mark, so I can not say about the age. But both have crazing, so they appear to be old to me. Blue & White Transferware Wash Basin Bowl-ABBEY-Staffordshire-C.1851-1866
A wonderful old blue and white transferware wash basin or bowl. Made by Livesley, Powell& Co. Staffordshire, England. The printed cartouche on the bottom dates the bowl to between 1851-1866. The bowl measures 13" in diameter and stands 4 3/4" tall. There are some minor issues but none of which are major or detract from the bowl. There is one small chip on the top, a dark hairline crack in the bottom which does not go through, some scratches on the inside bottom from normal usage. On the footrim there is a place which has chipped and someone has put either a paint or something to cover it. It is on the bottom edge so it really doesn't show. There is also some staining. Please look at all the photos and if you have questions email me. The bowl is very heavy, weighs almost 6 pounds before any packaging. Up for auction is a vintage antique English made stone china T. B. Boote white ironstone wash bowl. From a pitcher and bowl set, recently found at auction in the suburban Philadelphia, PA area. These wash bowls were in use before sinks and indoor plumbing was common. People would do daily washing in such pieces. This piece is found in good used condition. The only real condition issue to discuss is a small rim imperfection or chip and that it is a bit stained and could benefit from a good soaking, This is best seen in photo#5. There was some bubbling in the clay in the base as well. Please see photo#6 for details. The bowl features a desirable pattern and also has the registry mark, best seen in photo#4 so it can be dated to the day it was made. The bowl has an approximate opening diameter of 11 1/2" in size. This is an Antique Bonita V.P. CO. Rare White Ironstone Wash Basin. This bowl was made by the Vodrey Pottery Co. between the years 1896-1928. Rare because they made ironstone pottery for a few years and went out of business right when the depression hit. This is just a great looking bowl.has a lot of character from the discoloration and spotting that has naturally occurred to create this sought after shabby chic look!approx. 14" across and 5" tall. Antique White Ironstone China Willets Bowl Black Mark Wash Bowl
Up for auction is a antique Trenton. NJ made Willets white ironstone china wash bowl, from a pitcher and bowl set, recently found at auction in the suburban Philadelphia, PA area. These wash bowls were in use before sinks and indoor plumbing was common. People would do daily washing in such pieces. This piece is found in good used condition. The only real condition issue to discuss is a small rim imperfection or chip and that it is a bit stained and could benefit from a good soaking, This is best seen in photo#5. There was some bubbling in the clay in the base as well. Please see photo#6 for details. The bowl features a desirable pattern and also has the registry mark, best seen in photo#4 so it can be dated to the day it was made. The bowl has an approximate opening diameter of 11 1/2" in size. Vintage/Antique Large Ironstone China White Wash Basin With Gold and Red Rim
This large white/off white ceramic/ironstone wash basin appears very old. Manufacturer and age are unknown. Measures 16-1/2 inches in diameter. It was rimmed in gold but most of that has been worn off. There is a red and gold stripe on the inside of the bowl. There is scroll work on the outside of the bowl. The bowl has lots of crazing front and back with multiple manufacturer defects as well. There is discoloration of the bowl due to age. Bowl is in overall good vintage condition; however. There is one small chip on the rim. There are no other chips or cracks. Very heavy- weighs 5 pounds 10.5 ounces. This bowl reminds me of being in an old hotel back in the stagecoach days.

Antique Semi Vitreous Porcelain Mercer Lt 1800's White W/Blue&Gld Trm Wash Basin
Up for your consideration is the lovely ANTIQUE Semi-Vitreous Porcelain White With Blue and Gold Trim WASH BASIN that was manufactured in the late 1800's by Mercer Pottery in Trenton. New Jersey. There is the Double Shield maker's mark on the base of the piece, as shown in the photo. The Mercer Pottery Co, was established in 1868 and began using this Double Shield Mark in 1879. This bowl is accented with a deep blue stripe around the inner edge of the rim which is encircled with a gold stripe on either side. A single gold stripe also encircles outer edge of the rim. The basin measures approximately 17" in diameter and stands about 4" to the start of the rim. Condition: the basin is very good condition considering it is over 100 years old. There is no staining that I can see. No chips. However, there is crazing which is expected ... morein a piece this age, but it is only noticeable upon close exam. There are usage marks in the well, but no cracks. On the bottom of the basin, near the maker's mark, there are three light spider cracks. Trim: the blue trim is in nice shape for it's age. The gold stripes show a fair amount of wear. This beautiful bowl has lots of life left! Imagine seashells surrounding a candle or as a base for a lovely floral arrangement! Rare Antique White Wash Bowl by D.E.Mc.N.P. Co. Liverpool England
This is a very old wash bowl which shows its age with discoloration and crazing but no chips that I could find. There are some raised pieces of porcelain here and there. I placed my Wedgwood Pitcher in it with silk flowers just to show how lovely it looks! The mark on the back has a shield with a horse on each side: Warranted D.E.MC.N.P.Co. Liverpool. England. It is 15" in diameter and 5" high.

There are 2 hairline cracks that appear to be in the glaze only. 3 marks around the underside lip that appear to be from a stand or something that the bowl was sitting in, and a couple spot on the bottom of the base where the glazing and color are worn off.
