This is a very old set of five Water Hen brown transfer ware small bowls or maybe small saucers. They don't have any rims for cups so I am not sure. They are shallow. They do not have any chips or cracks but they do have a lot of crazing and a lot of browning especially two of them. They are really brown. Please look at all the pictures. They are 4-1/2" in diameter and 7/8" high. The backs are marked Water Hen 754.

800x600 I think this is the classic moss rose pattern. But it’s not as colorful as the newer stuff. The design is mostly in brown and grayish with white and rose highlights. There’s a slightly different design on each side. The compote is made of porcelain or china and is about 2 ¼ inches high and 6 inches in diameter. The floral design is highlighted with a raised enamel– the close up photo may show it. No markings. So I can’t identify it. Two women in foreground are seated by the river's edge. The cartouche on the back of the plate includes an eagle, a scroll bearing the name'Aurora' and the initials of the maker: B.H. Co. Beech& Hancock manufactured earthenware in Tunstall from 1851 to 1855. This is an excellent early example of English transferware. The bowl is in good condition: having no chips or cracks.
