Offered is this lovely and rare Dresden porcelain tall comport or centerpiece bowl made by Carl Thieme in Saxony. Germany. The stem of this piece features three figures of children, perhaps representing Cupid, or baby angels. We understand these figurals are sometimes called puttis. They cling to the stem of a reticulated bowl that is encrusted on the outside with hand modeled china flowers and foliage. The inside of the bowl is decorated with hand painted blossoms in the tradition of Dresden Flowers. The blossoms are framed by gold cartouches. A garland of flowers. Including roses, decorates the center of the bowl. The reticulated squares that form the side of the bowl take the form of a trellis. With painted or modeled flowers. The base of the compote features curved feet and reticulated sides with gold trim. It too is decorated with modeled ... moreporcelain flowers and foliage. The flowers and foliage extend up the stem of the piece. This centerpiece bowl is designed for use at the banquet table. To hold fresh fruit, with grape clusters hanging over the side. The compote stands 18 inches tall(46 cm) The bowl measures 11.75 inches by 10.75 inches(30 cm by 27.5 cm) It contains most of the decorative elements for which Carl Thieme is rightly famous. The company began in the 1860s and continues to the present. This piece is in very good condition. No chips or cracks that we can see. We have observed no damage to the porcelain flowers. But in all likelihood, a petal is missing here and there. We believe this centerpiece dates to the second half of the 20 th century. 19th century Old Paris porcelain reticulated compote with floral panels and gilt
A lovely and unique 19th century Old Paris porcelain compote with reticulated base and sides. Three-lobed border along rim of compote, gilt edging and highlights, and lovely celeste blue panels with rondels depicting various flowers in tones of cream, lavender, blue and white. The interior of the compote is a plain white glazed porcelain. What helps to make this compote unique is that many Old Paris compotes are formed of two separate pieces of porcelain, the bowl and the base, that are subsequently bolted together. When the ceramicist made this piece he employed the novel technique of making the compote all of one piece. The great advantage is that such compotes tend to be far sturdier than those with a bolt; the corresponding disadvantage is that the weight of the porcelain in the kiln could cause the bowl to settle slightly along the rim, ... moreas is the case in this piece. This does not impact the beauty of the decor. The gilding and piercing is truly lovely to behold, as are the four painted rondels along the sides, each featuring a slightly varied floral design. Antique Reticulated Porcelain Compote Basket Pierced Openwork w Gilt Old Paris
I want to begin by saying that the lemons are not included but they will be listed next. They were included when I purchased this compote and the fit it very nicely but may not fit your decorating scheme. For sale in this auction is a openwork porcelain 8" tall X 10" wide fruit basket or compote. Gold trim and floral design inside bowl which seem in excellent condition to me. I see no cracks or chips. I see one little rose colored spot on the underside of the bowl( shown in picture 12) It is smooth to the touch and seems to be in the glaze. The hardware is also rusty on the underside and I do not want to try to take the piece apart. The only mark I see is the number which is M-605. The base is not square but triangular and there is a pattern similar to egg an dart but not exactly that. Overall a very pleasing piece which will be ... morelovely with the artificial lemons you see pictured in it or real pears and grapes and apples during the holidays. As it is fragile. Old Paris Porcelain Cobalt & Gilt Low Footed Compote Bowl
For your consideration a marvelous compote bowl with cobalt and gilding. All hand painted. Beautiful central design of an apple or pomegranate. Sits on a low foot. Bowl is 9.25" wide. Stand 2" tall. There is some gilding loss on the very edges. As would be expected, but it really does not detract. A few scratches too, but again, not very impactful for such a beautiful antique. The glaze is strong and shiny overall and the painted decorations are also in excellent condition. Just the edges and a few small parts of the gilded flourishes show wear. Elegant Sevres Porcelain Compote with Hand Painted Bagpipe Player * Bronze Frame
From a local estate. Here is a wonderful compote that is handpainted and bears the famous Sevres porcelain mark. The base also says"France" and has the artists name next to it, but I cannot read it(see photo) The compote measures 8" high and the top bowl is 10 and 1/4" in diameter. The cylindrical base is housed inside a bronze raised banner type cutout where the white arched floral panels alighn nicely and are framed by the bronze panels. i am calling the metal bronze because it has the look and feel of it, but I am not 100% certain it is bronze. On the cylindrical base column.between the white floral panels, there is a gold leaf decoration that looks almost like the fleur de lis. The top bowl features a pastoral scene in which a man is standing playing the bagpipes to a seated, somewhat disinterested woman. Even the ... moredog, which can barely be seen behind the standing man, has fallen asleep. The scene is not signed, but the artist's signature or name appears to be on the underside next to the maker mark Sevres.the name looks like"Giacrce Furier" but obviously that first name is hard to read. The last name looks like"Furier" The piece has some wear and as you can see from the photo looking down on the bowl, there is a small swath on the bronze rim that looks lighter than the original patina. This is about an inch long and really has little, if any, impact on the piece. On the metal base the number 4078-1 and G are incised. The porcelain is free of any chips or cracks or crazing and the bowl looks like it was originally affixed to the metal frame by some type of glue adhesive. Simply a beautiful piece and the bagpipe player really adds to the uniqueness, in our opinion. So many of these Victorian scenes are generic and without originality.while this one has the decidedly pastoral theme in stark contrast to the flare and beauty of the piece is is painted on. Antique Chinese Imari Style Porcelain Footed Bowl Compote Chinoiserie Seal Mark
This antique Chinese Imari style footed bowl measures 10 3/8" inches across the handles and stands 3 1/4" inches high. It is in excellent condition with just some very minor gold wear on the handles and a small glaze skip on the underside of one handle. There is a faint red mark on the base that may be a spurious Chinese seal marking. I don't know who made the bowl but it likely dates from the late 18th or early 19th century. White Porcelain Reticulated Compote W/ Gold Gilt. 1879 It is 7 1/2" high with a 9" diameter bowl and 4 3/4" diameter base. The two parts are held together by a bolt and wing nut( I don't know if they are original) It is in good shape for its age as I see no nicks. Cracks, or repairs. There is wear to the gold gilt through out the piece. The circle mark on the bottom dates it at 1879-1889 but the H&C mark ended in 1879 dating the compote at 1879. 800x600 I think this is the classic moss rose pattern. But it’s not as colorful as the newer stuff. The design is mostly in brown and grayish with white and rose highlights. There’s a slightly different design on each side. The compote is made of porcelain or china and is about 2 ¼ inches high and 6 inches in diameter. The floral design is highlighted with a raised enamel– the close up photo may show it. No markings. So I can’t identify it. Reduced Price 3 day listing: Early 1900's German Dresden Floral Encrusted Centerpiece Compote. Victorian Rococo Revival Baroque Style Antique or Near Antique. This is 11 3/4" tall and the bowl is 9 3/8" x 9 1/2" The flowers& leaves seem to be all intact. There is 1 flower on the bowl& 1 on the base that has 1 pedal edge chipped, not enough to ruin the shape and 1 leaf on the base seems the same way very edge only, not enough to ruin the shape. Other than that maybe just minor"little specks" of paint loss or damage. Really the flowers are very good for the age. I did not see restoration. There are some separations in the green stems. This can be seen in Photo# 6. The bottom Dresden mark is from: Saechsische Porzellanfabrik Zu Potschappel Von Carl Thieme. Either 1914 or 1918 starting. The bowl is a little ... moreloose, it has been turned a lot, making marks where connected. I was afraid to try to tighten it myself. I have just displayed it as is" I did however see one just like this, that someone had some sealing compound or clay around. So that is an idea. There is a picture of the bolt pin, washer& felt pad. It is very rusted and someone might need to soak it a bit or spray it with an ointment to get it free, to tighten. The hand painted floral panels are very nicely done, on the bowl as well as the stem. I did not see much wear on the gold. These older ones have such nice beautiful colors. This listing is for a circa 1910 German Dresden centerpiece compote bowl. The elaborate center piece measures 12 ¾ inches or 32.3 cm high to the top of the bowl and is 8 ¾ inches or 22.2 cm in diameter at the top rim. The figural center bowl features a scalloped edge base with heavy applied gold highlights. There are two figures shown seated on a wood plank see-saw interacting with each other. Also decorating the base were applied porcelain flowers. Behind the figures is a tree form trunk which supports ... morethe bowl at the top. The bowl has an open work border around the top edge and applied porcelain flowers around the outside along with hand painted flower on the interior. 1800s porcelain footed compote in form of a ship with aquatic creatures
A whimsical piece of Victoriana- porcelain footed compote in form of a ship. The base can be unscrewed- see photo of brass washer underneath. Handpainted marine scenes on the sides. On one end. A cupid is riding on a sort of dragon-headed sea monster. A hole pierced through each clenched fist of the cupid enabled the reins(now missing) to be strung through; they would have also have been strung through the muzzle of the beast, which is now chipped off. On opposite prow is perched a Greek goddess, holding something on a gold staff which is partly broken off, in the other hand a small, undefinable object. THe piece is very well preserved- aside from the noted defects, the tip of one of the ears of the dragon is chipped off. Otherwise painting is well preserved with no chips, crazing or breaks. Under base is a maker's mark in blue underglaze- ... moretwo parallel lines with a short line crossing them in the middle. Max. height- 11 1/2 inches. Width- ca. 10 1/2 inches.

Early 1900s porcelain footed compote, German (von Schierholz)
Beautiful fine white porcelain compote from old German manufacture in near-perfect condition. Standing on four feet in vegetal form. Molded basket-weave bowl decorated with complex appliqued porcelain floral garlands on both sides. On outer edges are perched two cupids, one playing a lute and the other with a sheet of music. A row of holes around the rim of bowl so that a colorful ribbon- gold or, for Christmas, red or green- can be strung through. This compote actually works wonderfully at Christmas filled with holiday potpourri or fruit. Underneath is stamped in blue"von Schierholz" under their crown and crest, and under that"Handmalerei" or hand-painted. This one actually never was painted. The company was called simply Schierholz until 1912; from then on, it was called"von Schierholz'sche Porzellanmanufaktur. ... moreSo I would guess this dates some time after 1912. This is a lovely collectible piece. A compote in white with gold accents on rim, handles and base. The interior is hand painted with a continuous ribbon just below the rim, decorated with flowers. In the bottom of the bowl is a geometric design, possibly a stylized chrysanthemum. The interior of the base bears a back stamp consisting of an“M” inside a wreath. With the words“Hand Painted” above and“Nippon” below. The“M” stands for Morimura Brothers, who founded the Morimura Company of Japan. Nippon” is“Japan” in the Japanese language. This is a beautiful set. Very clean and in very good condition, always kept in a glass enclosed cabinet. There are 3 pieces, the pitchers have the number 22 hand written, the blue Y and stamped is the number 29. The pitchers are 17 inches tall and are very detailed. There are some broken petals on them but with all the detail it is hard to notice(I have a few of the petal pieces in a bag that I will send) The compote is boat shaped and is in very good condition, but it also has a few minor petal pieces that have broken off. The bottom is hand stamped with the number 29 and hand written(looks like 79) number 79 with the dark blue Y again on this piece. The compote/ bowl is 7 inches high and 11 by 9 inches. You are viewing a beautiful double oval footed 13 X 6 1/2 X 4 inch compote or console bowl. I know very little about it. I found it at an estate sale. The artists' initials on the bottom are AA with a symbol of 2 arrows passing through an O. The bowl features triangular openings all around the top and is painted in shades of blue. This listing is for a Vintage. Empire Porcelain Co Pedestal Dish or Compote. The piece features a beautiful Victorian scene with Cupid overlooking while two women about to kiss in the garden, one appears to be Diana and the other perhaps Venus. The bowl is square with trimmed in gold with scrolls and leaves on the rim. The piece is back-stamped"Empire Ivory Ware England 1 35" which I believe dates the piece Jan 1935. The trademark was used by the Empire Porcelain Co in the 1930's. The piece measures 6 1/4" square at the rim. 2 1/8" high and weighs 6.9 oz. The piece is free of chips. Cracks and fleabites. There is some very light crazing and a few tiny marks from use visible only under close inspection. The gold trim is in excellent condition with light wear on the rim. It certainly was made by one of the better companies and is definitely of the period. The condition is excellent. There is one small scratch in the green border area on the inside edge of the bowl, otherwise, there are no chips, cracks, flakes, hairlines or restoration. You seldom find this form yet alone in this condition. Be sure to enlarge and zoom each image for a close up view of the detail and condition.
