You are bidding on a breathtakingly beautiful Covered Bowl. It measures 8 1/4" handle to handle& 8" to top of finial. This piece was probably made by Samson& Co.1873. Paris France. Samson& Co. at one time used the Servers mark& re-created replicas of Sevres early pieces. The lid is reticulated and has flowers and fruit in the center, the bottom has double handles and is encrusted with flowers and fruit and has gold trim. This is a beautiful. Unique piece! It could be used as a centerpiece, display item, candy bowl, etc. It was reproduced in 1880s Europe to emulate the famous Sevres style. Most likely produced in France or Germany. It is hand painted with the Dresden floral glazed patterns. There are three bronze ram heads that really make this bowl interesting. There is a mark inside the lid that we have not been able to identify exactly but it seems to relate to where it was made. It measures 10-1/2" tall, 26-1/2" around at the widest part, and the base is a little more than 16" around. There are no chips or cracks. There is some minor wear on the marble base and some minor marks on the part of the bowl where the rim of the lid meets the bowl. Colors have remained quite vibrant! Limoges Sevres Style c18th Century Important Giltmetal-Mounted W/3Cranes Comport
This is just wonderful. Museum quality. This comport is just over 12" across and 6" high to top of cranes head. Weight is As you can see in one picture, it has a small matching dish that will be in another auction(not sold together) see my other listing. Mark is over glaze. There are three cranes perched on the edges with a twisted metal running around the top edge decoration. Floral on gold ground. Everything is solid. I believe this is hard paste, if it is and I am not an expert, it would have been made the year S-1771. Super-size to see well. Excellent condition no chips or cracks, does have minor gilt loss to metal and a brush of gold loss to center near edge of center flowers, signed Limoges. This is a gorgeous vintage French Sèvres style lidded bowl. Deep cobalt blue colour. The lid is decorated with 2 beautifull romantic scenes in medaillon. Surrounded with gold flowerguirlandes. Also gold guirlandes all around the bowl. The inside of the bowl is decorated with colourfull flowers. The bowl is mounted on a beautifull gold metal base with 4 feet. All finely elaborated. Sevres Style(France) Fragonard Pastoral Centerpiece Ormolu Bronze Frame Beautiful and very decorative French ormolu-mounted Sevres style turquoise ground centrepiece. 10 inches in diameter x 7 ¼ inches high(bowl 9 inches in diameter) late 19th century. The well of the round turquoise bowl is decorated with a garden pastoral scene of two lovers dancing and is signed“Fragonard” lower left; the high turquoise sides of the interior of the bowl are decorated with a repeating concentric c-scroll gilt design and the rim has a gilt edge. It is raised on a tripartite c-scroll bronze frame with pierced rocaille-cast foot having a center porcelain plaque decorated with floral bouquet and foliage within a turquoise border. The bottom of the bowl has a gilt oval. Above a painted spurious blue interlaced Ls mark centered with“D” surmounted by a crown ... moreand the word“FRANCE” below. The bottom of the plaque is impressed: 8/ AF/ L. Below this a painted spurious blue logo of interlaced Ls centered with“D” surmounted by a crown, with the word“FRANCE” below. Embossed below the above is a large“O” It is in Excellent Vintage Condition. For accuracies sake only there is a single and minor age related spot where the bowl is attached around its bottom edge to the frame. The glue appears to have shrunk a little and pulled a ⅜ inch long x 1/12th inch wide strip of blue colored porcelain from the bowl along the bronze frame. This is only evident on close inspection when the whole is inverted and in no way deters from the desirability or integrity of this fantastic centerpiece.
