Corpus Christi Alcock VINCENNES Flow Black Mulberry Transferware Soup Bowl 9.5"
Just removed from the family estate of south Texas Pioneers Sidbury Family. There is some information on the estate at the end of the listing. Antique flow black or mulberry transferware 12 sided deep soup bowl. The bowl was made ca. 1850's in Cobridge. Staffordshire region, England by John Alcock in the Vincennes pattern. Bowl measures 9inches across and 1.5 inches tall. Marked on the back as shown in the photos. It is in excellent antique condition. No cracks or repairs, but a couple minor chips as shown in pictures and light crazing. There are NO utensil scratches or marks on the inside of the bowl but does have a couple of factory pin holes. Sidbury(1830-1904) The builder of this house, was born in north Carolina and came with her parents to Sterling Robertson's colony before the Texas Revolution(1836) She married John Wesley Scott in 1848; they moved to Nueces county, where he died in 1867. In 1875, she was married again to builder Edward D. Sidbury. A civic leader and bank Director, Mrs. Sidbury became manager of her husband's lumber company after his death in 1881. This structure was part of the expansion resulting from the ropes boom of the early 1890's. Colonel E. H. Ropes of New Jersey planned to make Corpus Christi a deep water port. He began dredging a channel across Mustang Island but ran out of money and abandoned the project. One of two rent houses originally constructed by Mrs. Sidbury about 1893 in the bluff addition on upper north Broadway. This victorian structure featured a two-story bay surrounded by elaborately decorated galleries. It was occupied for several years by Padre Island Rancher Patrick Dunn(1858-1937) Later sold by Mrs. Sidbury's descendants, the house was moved off the Bluff in 1926 to this location in
Antique Vintage Ironstone Blue and White Soup Bowl Transferware Tonquin
Here is a nice blue and white Ironstone bowl. That looks like it would be for soup. The bowl measures 7 1/2 inches in diameter and 1 1/2 inches high. It is in very good condition, no cracks or chips, around the edge I feel a bit of roughness, like the its missing some glaze. Sorry for the glare in the pics from my window. This is an English brown transferware staffordshire bowl in an Aesthetic Japanese influenced pattern. It is 9& 1/4" across and the rim stands 1& 1/2" from the table top. It does not have any marks as to the maker although it is most certainly English from the 1800s. It is in very nice condition with no chips. Cracks or damage and a little age darkening on the back.

It does have a couple of smudges in the transfer and shows some soiling on the bottom which will clean off with soft scrub.

This Victorian Wedgwood transferware wide rimmed soup bowl is a wonderful blue-gray in color and features a scene with the Black Knight and Friar Tuck. The legend reads: The Black knight Exchanges Buffets with Friar Tuck" The rim is wonderfully decorated with Richard the Lion Hearted. Rowena, The Templar, Isaac of York, Rebecca and a jester. Twined between these portraits are images of turkeys, quails, chickens, fish and rabbits. The bowl is impressed in the reverse: WEDGWOOD and in blue-gray: IVANHOE. It is 9.25" in diameter.
