It carries the signature hallmark& number ing sequence for this time period which bears the 4-quadrant'Coat of Arms' of the shiel d with a crown sitting at top-it reads: HENRY ALCOCK& CO. ENGLAND SEMI-PORCELAIN"ELITE" RSN N o 267185(see close-up pic provided) There is also a number"12" stamped in brown paint on the bottom. AN"11" inscribed into the pottery at bottom. And the potter's personal number hand-inscribed into the pottery by the potter underneath the ... moredomed cover which reads"R 15" or similar) This piece was hand-made and well-made, handcrafted in 1895-nearly 120 years ago when pottery making was considered an art form and pride was taken in the quality craftsmanship which is reflected in this piece. There is a lovel y curled and stylized finial at top of the domed cover with raised relief of wheat and/or leaves(see closeup pics included) This brown transferware is definitively art nouveau in period and design with elaborate patterning of flowers. Vines, scrolls, geometric Asian-inspired half circle shapes, and dots(see pics) These pieces are all-original with no repairs or restoration and as suc h show the wear and color variations. Abrasions, and crazing signs of age. The bottom butter-dish plate does show age darkening and much wear-there is crazing, the surface gloss has disappeared and has a matte finish now, design patterning and color have experienced fading, there are small edge chips to rim and a large'spider' veining in 4 lines on back of plate(please see all pics provided detailing these described features) The matching domed cover has fared much better and has no cracks or chips-it could be used

This antique dish was made by Henry Alcock& Co. in England. The dish must have been made by Eli or it is number 173. Because that is also engraved on the bottom of the dish. This is what I believe is a coupe soup bowl. It seems to have small little handles to hold. The dish has no damages. It is in really good condition. There is some gold trim that is wearing off and some of the decoration seems a little faint. This fantastic collection piece measures 7 3/4" wide. It is just over 1" tall at its tallest point. handles) The pattern name to this is"Esmond"
