TWO ANTIQUE ZS&Co Zeh Scherzer & Company Fruit Bowls / Dessert Bowls 1880-1918
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE On the back of these two sweet 5 1/8” x 1 1/8” bowls is Zeh Scherzer’s well-known"green mark. which they used from 1880-1918. The company was founded in 1880 and for the first 30-40 years produced a wide range of wares. Including regular kitchenware, in addition to decorative porcelain. The first bowl is in exceptional condition. It bears three beautiful roses in various shades of pink. With small green leaves, green stems, and a gorgeous contrasting grey background that becomes darker at the top of the design and lighter at the bottom. There is a thin gold band around the lip. Which shows a bit of wear. The second bowl. Although not in quite as good condition as the first, is also in great condition, especially for a piece that’s between 94 and 132 years old! This one has a moderate amount ... moreof wear to the gold band. The roses are white with a tiny blush of pink. With green leaves and stems and a very unusual background fading from brown to white and back to a light brown. This one seems to have a factory defect on the rim. A very shallow chip measuring appx ½” in length, but it has been glazed over without any break in the glaze’s color. With the exception of the defect noted above. There are no chips, cracks, crazing, repairs, etc. These two unusual bowls would be a wonderful addition to any fine porcelain collection. FLORAL OVAL BOWL ZEH SCHERZER This beautiful zeh scherzer germany porcelain bowl stands 3 inches tall in the center and measures 13 inches long and about 8 1/4 inches wide in the center. The bowl features a delicate floral pattern that has handpainted enamel detail in the center. The border has a raised swirl type pattern. Each end has gold detail and accents. Please see pictures for a better idea. The rim is also trimmed in gold. The bowl is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. There is light gold wear.
