LARGE 12" SERVING BOWL JOHANN SELTMANN VOHENSTRAUSS BAVARIA GERMANY. I HAVE TRIED TO FIND THIS PATTERN WITHOUT SUCCESS. IT HAS A GOLD BAND WITH SMALL BLACK SQUARE BLOCK DESIGN ON A CREAM OR EGGSHELL COLOR. THIS IS A LARGE SERVING BOWL IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH NO CHIP OR CRACKS. AGE UNKNOWN. Johann Seltmann. A Bavarian porcelain manufacturing company founded in 1901 in Vohenstrauss, Germany. Named for the eldest Seltmann brother. The business actually was inspired by the talent of Karl and Christian Seltmann, Johann's younger brothers, both of whom had been active in the pottery and porcelain business before the company was founded. Located near the porcelain center of Arzberg. The Vohenstrauss factory was a huge success. Disagreements over whether the business should remain family-owned, however, led to Christian Seltmann leaving ... morein 1910 to establish his own company in the town of Weiden. Nonetheless. Johann Seltmann Porzellanfabrik continued to grow after Christian's departure, and by 1914 the factory employed more than 500 workers who produced at least one-third of their wares for export. In 1921. When Johann Seltmann died, the company was left in the hands of his two sons, Robert and Christian. The factory maintained its workforce throughout World War II The company modernized in the post-war years and was still strong until the 1970s. When business in Germany began to decline. An increase in worldwide competition led the company to merge with two other German porcelain makers in the 1980s. By 1995, the original Vohenstrauss factory was closed, and the remaining interests, which no longer bore the name Seltmann, declared bankruptcy in 2000.

Estate Sale Find Up for auction is a pretty serving plate/dish from the Johann Seltmann Vohenstrauss china factory in Germany. It is decorated with dusky pink and white roses on a green and white background trimmed with gold gilt paint. The scalloped edge of the plate is a light mauve/lilac and features white flowers and cutaway handles. There is some very light wear of the green paint on the raised edges. LOT# 423 Detailed Photos. Click to enlarge. Estate Road Show. Item Description. We are pleased to offer this pair of fine German porcelain scalloped rim rose transfer large serving bowls. With the smaller carrying a generic 1930s Germany stamp, and the second bearing an early 1930s Johann Seltmann of Vohenstrauss, Bavaria signature. This 11 inch bowl features a unique factory cut in the rim, to accommodate either a ladle or long shank spoon. This is a great lot of beautiful vintage German porcelain, each with gorgeous rose transfers. Johann Seltmann was born in 1856 at the town of Schlottenhof, Bavaria where he spent many years watching his father working in his small decoration studio before following his own profession and finally moving to Waldau. After his younger brother Karl Seltmann took over a factory in their home town in 1897 and ... morenamed it Keramik- und Porzellanfabrik Karl Seltmann, by 1901 Johann was approached by his youngest brother Christian Wilhelm Seltmann who at the time was the factory manager at the porcelain factory in Arzberg. Christian disliked the way he had to work there and so the brothers decided to open their own factory in 1901 with Christian as factory manager. After employing a group of specialists from Thuringia, with the ablity to instruct as of yet unskilled workers, the new company started off with three kilns at Altenstadt(a part of the city of Vohenstrauss) which was ideal as it not only offered cheap labor but also provided access to a railway connection that had been established between Vohenstrauÿ and Waidhaus. Next to being a perfect distribution method it also allowed the delivery of raw materials. Initial materials came from the Upper Palatinate area but soon were replaced with better raw materials from Bohemia. During the year 1909 Johann Seltmann wanted to change the business into a stock corporation and this resulted in constant friction with his brother who believed that the business should stay in family hands. Here I have 3 pieces of antique johann seltmann vohenstrauss porcelain up for grabs they are from Bavaria but you all ready knew that if your looking here I don't know much about them myself one looks like a tea pot the other a sugar bowl and the third I don't know Maybe a cookie jar not sure but they are all yours for the bidding they are in good shape the only problem is as can be seen in last pic it looks like the lid on the sugar bowl was broke at one time and someone tried to fix it and they were not an expert they patched it and then tried to draw the same pattern on it with a gold pen other than that there are no chips or cracks on the rest of them

Antique Johann Seltmann Vohenstraub Swan Plate, early 1900s.
This lovely swan plate each has the logo indicating it is by Johann Seltmann for the Vohenstraub company. The mark on the back were used between 1901 and 1914. The plate is 10 inches across. There are no chips or cracks, but a couple of tiny paint losses. There are the holes on the back to be used for hanging the plates as a decoration. Vintage Antique Johann Seltmann Vohenstrauss Soup Tureen Bavaria- MUST SEE! For your consideration is a gorgeous pre-owned vintage Seltmann Vohenstrauss tureen. I do not see any cracks. Chips, or repairs. There are some marks on unglazed part on the underside of tureen that sits on table. Also inside, there is a very tiny dark dot on the inside wall of tureen, about 3/4 of an inch from lip of tureen. There is some wear and breaks to the gold decoration. Considering age, this piece is excellent pre-owned condition. I am not an expert in Bavarian china but my research tells me that this mark was used between 1917-1932. You may want to research if dating the piece is important to you. I have a photo of the mark for you within the listing. Tureen is measures roughly 13.25 inches from handle to handle. Up for bidding is a beautiful antique sugar bowl and creamer set made by Johann Seltmann of Germany. This lovely set has a white background and is decorated with Fruit and Nuts. Both pieces are marked with the a J. S. Germany V back stamp as indicated in the photos. This trademark dates it from 1911-1932. Measurements: The creamer measures approximately 5" wide across handle-spout x 3 1/2" tall x 2 1/2" across the ruffled base. Very nice approximately 7 3/4" salad/desert plate by Johann Seltmann VOHENSTRAUSS Bavaria Germany. I see no chips. Cracks or breaks. Minor to minimal scratches on surface. Beautiful coloring. I think these are red raspberries. The plate has slight scalloped edges and are ornately done. Really a nice piece. I have not seen berry plates so I don't know if these are unusual or not. The bowl is in beautiful condition with no chips. No cracks, and no crazing. The bottom is nice and clean with only a hint of wear. Vintage 1940s Johann Seltmann ornate cobalt blue and gold cup and saucer
Offered for your consideration is this post-World War II cobalt blue and gold gilt tea cup and saucer from Johann Seltmann. Bavaria, at the time a part of the post-war American zone of Germany. Both the cup and saucer have cobalt blue bands covered with a design of leaves and flowers in gold filigree. There is additional gold in a ribbon at the top of the cup, the inside cup rim, a band at the bottom of the cup interior, on the handle and around the scalloped rim of the saucer. The cup is 5¼" wide including the handle, 4-1/8" in diameter and 2-3/8" tall including the low pedestal footing. The saucer is 6" in diameter. Antique Creamer& Sugar Bowl by Johann Seltman Up for bidding is a beautiful antique sugar bowl and creamer set made by Johann Seltmann of Germany. This lovely set has a white background and is decorated with heavy gold gilt trim and pink rose with green leaves. Around the ruffled rim and lid is a unique Art Nouveau stylized pattern of purple. Pink and gold with ornate gold scroll designs. Both pieces are marked with the a J. S. Germany V back stamp as indicated in the photos. This trademark dates it from 1911-1932. Measurements: The creamer measures approximately 5 1/2" wide across handle-spout x 4 3/4" tall x 2 1/42" across the ruffled base. Auction is for a rare 1949- 1955. Johann Seltmann, Vohenstraub, Handpainted and signed by Artist named Solder, triangular plate#4147, with#41 under that. Although triangular. It measures 7 3/8" at widest areas and is such an unusual plate that is ideal for display! The flower colors are rose pink, blue and white with yellow inset and vividly bright with fabulous detail. We understand the gold is 24 carat with no loss in the design around the plate(only the Artist name is dulled. It has a beautiful decal of pale pink to white roses and green leaves. The luster around the rim is white. Purple and pink. Marked on the bottom is a hallmark with"JSV GERMANY" The JSV in the hallmark stands for Johann Seltmann of Vohenstrauß, Bavaria, Germany. Hallmark was used circa 1911.
