The bowls are blue and white flower chintz- the blue is closer to a navy blue- my camera is not the best with old blues. The mark on the bowls are from the early 1900s. I don't know if the actual tidbit tray is original or if someone made it from the bowls- the bowls are in excellent condition. The metal has some rust in places. I did not use any cleaners so some of the marks may come off, but the tier handles could easily be replaced if wanted. The piece stands about 11 inches tall to the top of the handle. The smaller bowl measures about 5 1/4 inches ... moreacross with an opening of about 4 3/4 inches. It is about 1 1/2 inches deep. The larger bowl measures about 8 1/4 inches across with an opening of about 7 3/4 inche. It is about 2 inches deep. Both pieces are marked in blue on the bottom: Hawthorn EPCo(which stands for Empire Porcelain Co) Stoke on Trent England. The larger bowl also has what looks like a 0 in blue to the side(see last picture- the small bowl has the same mark. But I could not get a picture of the bottom) The piece is in great vintage condition- no chips. Cracks, flea bites, crazing, scratches, etc. As I said, the metal handle shows some rust. This is for a Beautiful Large Covered Serving Bowl made by T. Elsmore and Son and decorated in Transferware. It is made of white porcelain and has a beautiful brown transferware floral design with a butterfly. Fan and a screen with lions. There is a still life scene, that is the same on both sides of the piece, in blues, pink, green and brown. The tureen has two handles in a looped scroll pattern decorated in brown and gold. This pattern is also repeated around the base. The mark on the bottom is in gold. And says"T. elsmore& Son, Tunstall England. It also has a Diamond Mark with"14, 14, 6, R.D& E" and an IG or TG incised on the bottom. This company was in business prior to 1891 so this is a very old piece. T. Elsmore stands for Thomas Elsmore. Blue And White Transferware Serving Bowl 'Blue Willow'
Blue and White Transferware bowl is ~ 6 3/4" in diameter. The Blue Willow design pattern begins at the fluted rim and goes down into the belly of the bowl. Included in the design are many buildings. A creek/river, a bridge with 2 people on it, multiple trees. The bowl shows the expected aging& discoloration, glaze crazing, utensil marks, wear- more so on the footrim, and potter flaws that give it character. There is what looks like a tiny firing crack to outside edge, apparently in the making. There are some areas of light brownish coloration around the outside edge. There are some minor scattered marks on the interior. There is a little bit of glaze rubbing to inside edge. There is some fine crazing which is really ... moreonly visible on the underside. Very Large Brown Transferware Serving Bowl~Johnson Bros England~Floral pattern!
This serving bowl is tremendous in every way. It is made by Johnson Bros in England in the Floral pattern. It is in perfect condition and has a wonderful floral rim and floral transfer pattern on the inside and out. It measure just under 15" in diameter and is about 4.5"high. It is large enough for serving a large family gathering or holiday party. It has a great ribbed pattern on the exterior and the pattern could be considered somewhat aesthetic in style. Antique BLUE TRANSFERWARE SERVING BOWL - Staffordshire - England - Acorn Border
Beautiful blue transferware English serving bowl measures 9" by 6-3/4" and is 1-7/8" deep. My guess is that it was made between 1880 and 1910. It features a handsome design of a group of people with a dog and trees by an impressive building. Lovely acorn leaf border. Decorated both inside and out. Good condition with no chips. No cracks, no hairlines, no repairs, and no crazing. It does have a couple of insignificant marks from in the making(see photos) like a glaze pop and there's some slight porcelain rubbing in a few areas on the outside rim. No hallmarks. Great size for vegetables, sauces, fruit, etc. Could even serve cookies, candy, and little rolls in this early dish. A beautiful old treasure ready for display and/or use.
