Walter Hubbard, and Orson and Chitten Hatch began in Meriden, Connecticut in 1852 as Bradley, Hatch& Company. Clocks were the sole product of the newly formed company. When the Hatch brothers sold their interests in the firm two years later. Nathaniel Bradley, William Bradley and Walter Hubbard formed a company which they named simply Bradley and Hubbard. By 1856, they were producing call bells and sewing machines, but clocks continued to be the main line of production throughout the 1850's and 1860's. Many northern manufacturers prospered immensely during the Civil War due to the expanded market west of the Mississippi and increased foreign exports. Bradley and Hubbard was no exception, adding the production of flags, hoop skirts, spring measuring tapes and match safes during the war years. The discovery of oil in Pennsylvania in 1859 also had a great impact on the product line of Bradley& Hubbard with the decision to begin production of kerosene burning lamps. By 1871. Kerosene virtually replaced whale oil for heating and illumination and new ways of burning it more efficiently were needed. Between 1868 and 1875, Bradley and Hubbard secured 33 patents relating to the design and mechanics of oil burning lamps(in all, the company would eventually patent a total of 238 designs and mechanical devices) The company was again reorganized in 1875, this time as a joint stock company renamed The Bradley and Hubbard Manufacturing Company. This cast brass picture frame has been converted from an easel back photo frame and to a mirror made to hang on the wall. The frame measures 11" by 9" across the outer rim with a 5" by 4" wide opening for the mirror. There is a metal plate on the back attached with four flat head screws and a wire that goes from each side to hang on the wall. This is not cast iron and metal is not magnetic. This auction is for an vintage Frameless Beveled Edge Wall Mirror from Scotland. This is a very pretty Oval mirror with pretty metal Ormolu on each end of the mirror. It still works and with it's pretty and unique style adds interest and charm anywhere you hang it. This is an older mirror. More than likely 60 to 70 years old or older and for it's age& travels it's in good overall condition but it is not Perfect. It does have some light cloudiness to the back ground. It does have some small scratches on the glass and a few dark spots on the silvering and around the outside edges of the mirror. This great old mirror is the definition of shabby chic or you could touch up the paint for a traditional look. It is 12 1/2 inches wide. 14 1/2" long. the mirror is in fine condition with no damage or discoloration.The frame looks to be oak on the backside. The applied acorn and oak leaf decoration is probably gesso but no chips, a line goes through the top and bottom one where the seams were dovetailed together, see photos.The narrow gesso gilt and beaded liner that surrounds the mirror has four nicks.Civil War era to late 1880s frame and not often found with the decoration intact. Ready to hang with its old wire hanger, the nails too are original it appears. Hard to photograph as everything is reflected, I apologize.

Auction i s for a beautiful anti que oval mirror. I believe its from the late 1800's. Wooden mirror frame with gesso and gold gilt surface. Raised ornate detailing. On top. Bottom and sides raised flower in center that look like roses surrounded by leaves and berries. Mirror measures 14" x 12" Original old wooden backing. Some minor flaking to gold gilt close to edges(photo 5) Photos 5 and 6 really show you how thick/wide this frame is. One small section of raised floral has been re-glued on(photo 6)really hard to tell when looking straight on. This mirror has been hanging in my home for several years. We are downsizing and I am beginning to sell some of my own collection.

VINTAGE MIRROR Acquired at an estate sale is this vintage wood& gesso mirror. Appears to have been a stand-up mirror at one time and now it is a wall mirror. Overall the frame measures 12 ½ inches tall. 10 ¼ inches wide and ¾ of 1 inch thick. The frame ring edge is about 1 ¼ inches thick. The mirror measures 9 ¼ inches by 7 ¼ inches. It appears to have been repainted the current green color. There is a picture wire mounted on the back that is solid& secure. The mirror has some aging spots. Lines and marks. The mirror is a little loose in the frame but is securely in place by the backing that is screwed to the frame. The frame does have some cracks– but the frame is solid and intact. Unique Large Vintage Oval Mahogany With Inlay Wall Mirror From England
This auction is for a vintage unique style of a medium large Oval Mahogany Frame with Inlay in the frame from England. It still works and with it's pretty and simple style adds interest and charm anywhere you hang it. It is a true wall mirror complete with chain and mounts on the back. This is an older mirror. More than likely 70 to 80 years old or older and for it's age& travels it's in good overall condition but it is not Perfect. It does have some very small scratches on the glass and some small dark spots on the silvering. The clarity is good. It's still a wonderful older mirror that would make any wall look better. Antique Oval Primitive Wall Mirror Beveled Edge
Selling is an antique primitive oval mirror with a beveled edge. This mirror has a medium colored 3/4" wood frame. The whole back of the mirror is wood and there is a nail on each side to string a wire betwen to hang. The mirror measures 9" by 7" There are a couple old cracks in the wood that are very stable. It is thick, at least 1" high when laying flat. The mirror itself is in very good condition with no loss of silvering.
