This is an old mirror and it has held up very nicely over the years. The design is actually quite interesting with its roundel tipped whorls facing outward and over the acanthus finials. The acanthus flourish in the top center is unique as well. The border is all reeded with block corners. The mirror has some small spots. As is expected in an old mirror, but it has very minor spotting compared to what you normally see. There is also a scratch on the lower right side, and some wear/ scratching to the wood frame, as should be expected in an older piece. The back has a strong wire support. Lovely old antique/ vintage Hitchcock Tole Mirror in creamy white with gold accents to the turned wooden balusters with gold rosettes. Condition is very nice on this piece considering the age with no breaks or cracks. The wood still has shiny luster to it. There is a slight patina to the creamy white adding a faint yellow typical on white tole. The reverse painting is in very nice condition, with no peeling or cracks. There may be a slight scratch here or there. The back still has the original authentic Hitchcock Company paper with a letter from Lambert Hitchcock dating November 17, 1832, and a picture of his factory. There are several age spots on the mirrored glass and the frame has an alligatored finish. An interesting mirror in any primitive setting. It has an arch styling to it. This mirror measures approximately 13" x 16 1/2" tall in size. The overall size of the mirror with the frame is approximately 10 1/2" x 12 1/2" in size. A significant. Early Federal, two-part looking glass or large mirror with complicated shell and chain plaster work and original glass. The mirror, 38 1/2" in height by 23 1/2" wide, has several coats of old gold paint over the original gilt.I have lightly cleaned a small portion in the lower right to show how much brighter the piece will be with some effort. I'm not sure whether this is an American mirror or perhaps French. Several of the nails on the back are still there and are hand-cut(even a rosehead) and the construction using the corner supports probably is Circa 1810. One of the corner shells is missing along with the surrounding leaf work and a shell in the lower left has some plaster loss. I would say that the mirror, with the exception of the later gold paint, is in original condition. Antique Federal-Sheraton Mahogany shaving Mirror Circa 1820's This wonderful antique Federal-Sheraton mahogany shaving mirror has a bowed front. Two drawers which are hand dovetailed, sitting on ball feet, an oval original mirror with it's age spots attached with it's beautiful curved side harps. The harps are simply inlaid and have the original brass side tabs to keep mirror tight and the original brass pulls on the two drawers. The piece is 18 3/4 inches wide, 6 1/2 inches deep, 26 inches tall to the top of the mirror and is in very good condition considering the age, with some spots and stains on the mirror and one minor very professionally done veneer repair on the far back left hand corner, which is hardly noticeable. Pre-Victorian Antique Mirror with Landscape Painting, Empire or Federal
I'm not quite the antique expert-but I know Pennsylvania antiques when I see them. I suspect this is an 1800-1850 period Empire-Federal style mirror with folkish painting above the mirror of two houses-probably an owner proud of his acquired property and weath. Look carefully at the construction in the photos. Mirror looks original-ish but original might have been beveled. The really interesting part is the painting. Obviously having personal symbolism. Note the brass hanger-original? Consruction techniques show handwork I'm familiar with. Note columns on each side of the mirror. I'd be happy to hear from bidders who know more about this piece than I do. Wood appears to be walnut. US sales only. Weighs about 15 pounds. Must be well packed and shipped of course. Trees, landscape. Architecturally speaking, the mirror makes a strong statement with its flanking hand carved columns supporting design embellishments above the reverse painting with a cornice molding, a harbinger of the Empire style, which is now coming in vogue. Fine American Federal Giltwood and Eglomise Panel Antique Mirror, Mass. c. 1810
AMERICAN FEDERAL GILTWOOD EGLOMISE ANTIQUE PIER MIRROR Probably Massachusetts c. 1810 Item# 502GXQ22 A fine work that almost certainly was produced along the North Shore of Massachusetts. The form is elegant and perfectly conforming with the distinctly neoclassical tastes of America during the first years of the 19th century. This form of pier mirror was crafted extensively in both New York City and Massachusetts during this period, primarily Boston and Salem. The crest projects boldly over the mirror with a series of round droplets affixed on wire through the top of the mirror. Above the triple reeded corinthian columns flanking the mirror are wonderful carved acanthus, draping along the curved molding that flanks a carved and gilded panel of a single rose with outflowing foliage. The present example closely relates to a pair of mirrors ... moreheld in the Mabel Brady Garvan Collection(Barquist, f. 182) the acanthus carvings on this mirror clearly being more bold and executed with greater confidence. A reverse painted tablet featuring a Greco-Roman classical scene rests above the old glass of the mirror. We have not removed the backboards to more closely examine the glass. As the backboards appear to be undisturbed; however, it does appear to be a period glass and correct for the piece. The square blocks of the lower corners and rectangular blocks of the upper corners are divided diagonally with panels of light and dark gilding. This very fine acquisition remains preserved in excellent condition- it will be a wonderful addition to any collection of Federal taste. 1024x768 I am offering a beautiful mirror that I obtained from an estate south of Boston. The frame is made from wood with a gold gilt finish. The bottom portion has a mirror and the top has an original pastel drawing on a sundial in a garden. The art exposed within the round mat is 6” in diameter. The mirror overall is approximately 20” long and 10-3/4” wide. There is a wooden panel on the back. I believe that the pastel is not original to the mirror. But it adds a lovely soft look. The mirror is original. Thick glass. The piece has slight imperfections to the finish and wood that reflect the age. Please view the photos. Antique Federal mirror Eglomise w label Kidder and Carter Mass reverse painted
Here is a wonderful mirror from the early 1800's. It still retains the original label reading Kidder and Carter Charlestown Mass. I bought this mirror several years ago at a small estate auction here in Ohio. It is in pretty good condition considering its age. There are small losses of paint to the tablet and the mirror is a little foggy as the pictures will indicate. There is a small block of wood missing on the bottom Right side corner as a picture will show. It can only be noticed from the side and will not be scene from the front. The mirror measures 23 1/2' tall and the mid section is 10 1/2' wide and the top cornice of the mirror is 14 1/2' wide. A very diminutive mirror. This would be a great addition to any collection. Lower 48 states only please.

It has carved half columns with brass rosettes at the top and reeded columns at the bottom. It measures 36" tall by 18" wide at the top. It is in good all original condition with some minor loss to the original silvering on both mirrors and a small sliver of wood on upper right top board.
