They measure about 18 -1/2 inches tall and 12 inches wide and 4-1/2 inches deep. I have not been able to find any signs of damage, cracks or repairs. One of the cherubs is holding a little book and the other does have a small hole where something could have been held in place but it looks like the hole was never used and you have to look close to even find it.

This is a stunningly large pair of late 19th century Victorian bronze and cast iron fireplace andirons. they are very ornate with intricate detailing and have a wonderful patina from age. they are nicely footed with curved legs and topped with a very pointy bronze finial. the whole shaft is very detailed and has many sections with floral detailing done in high relief, the back wood rest are large and made from cast iron. They are actually a bit different so one of them was replaced at one time but very hard t notice. they each measure 24 inches tall by 11 1/4 inches wide by 20 1/2 inches back to front. they are high quality andirons which have a lovely patina from age. They date to C1870s, they are actually Andiron fronts, because the L shaped back supports are missing, these would have been made of iron, because they would have be closest to the open fire, I do not see this as a great problem, they can be easilly replaced and it will certainly have reduced the shipping cost dramatically for you. I have not cleaned the bronze, it is exactly as they were found on the antique market here in the South of France, I understand that some dealers do not like their metalware cleaned, so I have left them with their original wonderful patina and as we say here in France"dans son jus" in their original state, but with cleaning, I imagine they will become much brighter, the choice is yours! Made in France sometime between 1850-1900. They were placed in front of a fireplace to protect priceless rugs and flooring from rolling logs. Only the grandest homes would have had Andirons as beautifully designed as these. Two patinated bronze winged Putti rest on a contrasting bronze gilt 12" high, 12" wide, 18" long There is a small crack at the bottom of the gilt on one Andiron, there are two close up picture provided above. There is also one screw missing that holds one of the Putti to the gilt. This pair of Putti Andirons have only been cleaned with mild soap and water. Leaving over a hundred years of natural oxidation and patina to show threw on the bronze. The top section of the andirions are iron and feature the large ship medallion inside the outer frame. A large, detailed leaf is the top finial. We took these to a local antique shop and the older gentleman there who sells this type of item said they were ... morebronze. Made in France, but WE do not know for sure. He told us these were from the 19th century in a Rococo style. When we don't know much about an item, we seek those locally who do, and in this case, we can only report what the'wise old antiques dealer' told us. Please carefully examine these and come to your own conclusion before purchasing. We think they'd look amazing in an updated Hollywood Regency style living space, or even an eclectic modern room! We have only wiped these with a dry cloth, not wanting to destroy the gorgeous original patina that has taken DECADES to create! These came from an estate that had three fireplaces, all unusual and oddly shaped, which may account for the one leg being longer(the part that extends to the back of the fireplace-one is 10.5 and other 14.5 inches) We love that they are slightly different, not an exact mirror image of each other. Pair of Antique Gothic Style Andirons. They are in good condition. The metal which is copper bronze is greenish from age, and the iron is rusting. One of the andirons is missing a ring on the side(replaceable) They measures 20' by 12' by 10' each, and weighs 7 lbs each. Some information state these are Rococo in the style of Louis XV. These are very ornate and have a unique design and detail. they stand just over 16 inches about 10 inches at base and about 18 inches front front to back portion( which goes into fireplace) they weight over 7 lbs each They are bronze. Brass no marking. These appear to be in very good condition based on their age. One may wish to clean and polish however the way they look now may leave some history behind on these two great pieces. ANTIQUE FIGURAL BRONZE OWL ANDIRONS with GLASS EYES.....NEED PARTS
Description This is an antique pair of bronze figural owl andirons. They measure 15 inches in height. 9 inches across the bottom. They eyes are marbles but the problem is one of the andirons is missing the eyes, pictured. The eyes would measure 7/8 inches in diameter. These are very unusual in that they are bronze and a large size, usually they are cast iron. There is no makers name. They are missing the back legs so they do need some restoration.
