Being offered is a fantastic pair of early 19th Century Federal Style brass and iron beehive andirons or fire dogs. This pair measure 17" tall. 8" ... morewide, 5 1/2" long and weigh about 4 lbs each. Unusual Brass & Mahogany Mechanical Bellows, George III, Early 19th Century
This is a very unusual piece from the early 19th Century. It is a mechanical bellows that was hand made with wood and brass. You crank the wheel and the cord spins the cylinder that has fan type blades. Which would then blow air out the nozzle. It measures 26" long, 7" wide and 9" high. This piece is from the George III period in the early 19th Century. The piece is in very good condition, but the cord that connects the wheel and the cylinder is stretched out. Antique Chased Brass Andirons c.19th Century Coat of Arms City of Amsterdam
Here is an absolutely amazing pair of Tall Baroque19th Century Chased Brass Andirons The bottom of the Andirons are of the Coat of Arms of the City of Amsterdam which consists of a shield and a band running vertically down the center of the shield. With on that field three Saint Andrew’s Crosses. Above the shield is the Imperial Crown of Austria and two golden lions flank the shield. The top of the andirons have wonderful balustrades and urn shapes. These are wonderfully intricate impressive pieces. I have not cleaned the andirons if you wish me to do so I would be happy to. But I am waiting for the new owner to let me know. They have a very interesting provenance. They were owned by a Baron who purchased antiques all over Europe for his Estate in Mexico. He was found murdered and his lover was put in jail for the crime for a couple of years ... moreuntil he was found not guilty. The lover then decided to leave Mexico for Brasil and put up the entire contents for sale and these were from the Sale at Southebys. This is a stunning pair of mid 19th century brass and iron fireplace andirons. they are very ornate with intricate detailing and have a wonderful patina from age. they are nicely footed with dimensional claw feet and nicely curved legs. the shaft and ball top finial are deeply ribbed with a detailed filler piece in-between. the finial is very large and also topped with a solid brass finial. the back wood rest are large and made from cast iron. One has a very old repair that gives nice character. they each measure 22 inches tall by 8 inches wide by 22 1/4 inches back to front. they are nice old andirons. There are some dings to the ball tops. 19th Century Italian Brass Andirons
A house of true tropical architecture. It had fifteen-foot ceilings, ten-foot doors, long open galleries with the dining room and kitchen on the ground level and a sweeping circular stair rising to an observation platform on the roof more than thirty feet above. The platform in Hawaii would have afforded him a view of the sea and the incoming ships, but in Marshall it afforded him a view of his daughter's across the street. The staircase, an architectural wonder was made of ebony, teak, mahogany, and maple. The walls were covered with murals depicting the flora and fauna of the tropics. Colored glass panels flanked the front door. Originally intended for the Honolulu house in Michigan. The pair were bought in Waikiki in 1992. Gorgeous ANTIQUE Fireplace Fender / Surround - Circa 19th Century - Bronze/Brass
This is a wonderful antique FIREPLACE FENDER with unique features. On each side of the fender is a circular. Concaved and relief plate depicting the face of a woman. We believe this to be a 19th century creation and possibly older. Amazing details with ball finials and an intricately carved base. The scroll work throughout is beautiful. A lot of skill and effort clearly went into making this piece. This fender came from the Minor Hill estate in McLean. Virginia. If you google Minor Hill, you will see that this is an 18th century house owned by George Minor, Sr and Jr in the early days. This is also the house where Dolley Madison is believed to have hid during her flight to and from Washington, DC during the War of 1812. There was a recent estate sale at this location where everything had to go in preparation for its upcoming sale. The second ... moreto last photo is how the fireplace fender was found at the sale. We have cleaned it up using soap and water. The last photo is of the historic house itself. Excerpt from an online site: This house may have been where Dolley Madison stayed for two nights before returning to Washington. Located at the intersection of Virginia Avenue and North Nottingham Street in McLean, Virginia, the original house was reportedly constructed of logs as early as 1730. In 1770, George Minor, Sr. purchased the property and added a wing to the existing house. George Minor and his first wife, Ann, had seven children. The eldest, George Minor, Jr. inherited the house and occupied it during the War of 1812. George Jr. served as Lieutenant Colonel of the Virginia Militia 60th Regiment and was called to the defense of the capital; however, administrative delays prevented him from reaching Bladensburg in time for the battle. Beautiful& Rare Antique Bronze Andirons. Handmade and Forged together. Early American dating around 1800. Measuring about 17 1/2" tall, 8 1/2" wide at base, 15 1/2" front to back. Fronts are solid bronze and Log bars are iron. Has small makers defect, where the iron back bar attaches to bronze bass, one is attached under and other is attached over(has no effect to structure& can not be seen from front) Since they are hand forged together at that spot, this small defect can not be fixed. They also might have had a small bronze cover over top front area of the iron bar, which would have bin forged on, depending on Maker. Has no Maker ID Marks. Unsure of origin and exact age.
