Victorian Stick & Ball Mahogany Fireplace Mantel w/Shelves & Mirrors 82"H x 60"W
We are pleased to offer to the market this beautiful antique fireplace mantle. This piece has great character and dates to the Victorian era. This piece measures 82" High x 60 3/16" at the widest point and it has a depth of 10.5" The mantle back has the main center mirror flanked by two smaller mirrors with shelves on the sides. The front of the mirror has turned& reeded columns holding a shelf above it. There are attached cornice pieces above the two smaller mirrored sections that are topped with a stick& ball design. This same design is also found on the crest at the top center of the mantle. There are hand carved medallions and curliques on this piece as well. This is a gorgeous mantle that will definately make a statement in a room. There are age and use appropriate scratches. Dings, divets, cracks, repairs, and ... moreother marks on this piece. There are issues with the finish as well from being stored. Structurally the piece is solid and sound with no rot or losseness. It does appear that someone at some point had done some gluing on this. There is one ball on the top section that moves up and down also. It aopears that there have also been a few small pieces replaced on this as well. Description This is an exceptional fireplace mantel that was salvaged from a Victorian Brownstone in Brooklyn. NY. It is made of pine and is currently painted white. It is a 2 piece set. Upper and lower. The lower has returns to wrap around the chimney. The shelf is trimmed in egg and dart. The corners have fluted pilasters with ornate capitals. There is a band of ornate detail below the shelf. There are flat recessed panelings around the opening trimmed in reel and bead molding. The overmantel has 8 fluted columns with ornate capitals. There are 5 beveled mirror. There are multiple shelves that are trimmed in reel and bead molding and ornate moldings. All of the ornate details are gesso. It was originally painted. Not stained. The total height is 66.25 inches wide by 99.25 inches tall. It is 16.5 deep including the wrap around and 13.75 ... moredeep without it. The upper measures 66.25 wide by 50.25 tall.
