This is a beautiful solid mahogany mantel with it's original finish. This mantel boasts important tapered. Fluted columns, beaded trim and dentil molding. There is a manufacture tag that dates this mantel at 1916. A real touch of class. From a mansion in Hyde Park. Charming. Really a fine custom made mantel. There is fine paint splatter on the shelf surface with very minor paint on the face and column. The surface also shows some alligator finish. Wear from all the years. This is by Paine's Furniture of Boston. Date not known. This is in very sound structural condition and has been painted many times, though not recently. Cracks visible in the photographs are in the paint, occurring along joints in the framing. The columns bases are in excellent condition. The original square plinths are missing, though easily replaced. This unit has four brass mounting bracket(see photo) intended to make this an easy piece to install. Secure to a wall. Spectacular Adams Style Fireplace Mantel W/Fluted Columns, Putti, Roses, Etc.
Late 19th century fireplace mantel removed from a mansion on Rye New York. The mantel has wonderful designs of floral swags centered with roses. A central design of a woman surrounded by children. Winged children on the field above the fluted columns. The opening of the mantel measures 59.5"X39" outside dimensions are 93"x55" And the shelf is 101.5" wide. The mantel is in an old white paint, one of several layers. I would be glad to answer any questions you may have on this item.
