Up for bid is the pair of antique FIREPLACE ANDIRONS/ FIREDOGS. As seen in the pictures/ as described in the title. They are in the Arts and Crafts/ Mission style with a simple yet detailed design. I believe they are likely made of 100% solid cast iron with a hammered finish.but may or may not have a copper tin layer applied.I just am not sure. Both are embossed"1921-2 MADE IN USA" on bottoms of the horizonal bars. Both are EXCELLENT with NO major defects or repairs. Wonderful, thick patina throughout, yet clean to the touch. Cosmetic condition is as clearly shown in the pictures. Please inspect all of them carefully. Measures approx. 18" tall x 10" wide(at base of feet) x 19" long. Overall. Cast Iron Fireplace Insert Fleur De Lis Coal Box Grate Basket or Log Holder
Here is a Antique Cast Iron fireplace insert in very good condition for its age. I just purchased this from an estate sale and the owner said its been in the house since he can remember and he was about 50 years old. The piece has numbers on it in the back 1505-18-20 the swivel grate is numbered No.2 230. I can find no other markings. The grate measures 20 inches wide. 18 inches high and 12 inches front to back. The condition is very good no damage I could find just some surface corrosion from use and age. The grate looks like it could come apart with a turn of a heavy screw driver but that looks like it could be an issue from age I don't think they will turn without major cleaning and oiling. I will be shipping this in one piece and wrap the swivel grate separately. GOOD LUCK!

Here is a pre-owned Split Oak slat-wood weave Vintage firewood basket found at an old estate. Probably dates from the 1970's. It does have some wear and is old. Tapped nails that hold slat-woven basket are rusted and gold frame piece is scuffed and minor dents. One side has Eagle emblem. This slat-woven fireplace hearth basket measures approx 18 inches tall and about 16 inches deep. More than 17 inches long, and a bit more than 14 inches wide. It is rare that a complete Arts and Crafts antique fireplace set remains intact and together as this one has! This fine example of the skill and talent of the artisans of that time can be showcased on your hearth today. Included in this substantial handcrafted set is the fireplace screen. Andirons, tool holder with four tools and log holder/carrier with handle. In each piece the heavy yet intricate scrollwork and the artistic twist of the metal is repeated. The squirrels in the andiron design will be enjoying the acorn they hold to their mouths. The blacksmith who forged these squirrels has them perched with their famous bushy tails in full display. Very imaginative! The fireplace screen has handles on either side for ease of moving it. It is well-balanced with the scrolled feet projecting 5-inches forward and the stabilizers projecting 5-inches ... moreback. The screen is a heavy mesh and good condition for its age. There is one tiny disruption in the mesh as shown in the photo. The original blacksmith burnt oil finish still fills in a few openings in the mesh as shown in the photo. The log holder/carrier has scrolled edges and is supported on scrolled feet and the handle is movable. The tool holder is well-balanced and holds the brush. Shovel, poker and tong. A welded repair has been made to the shovel to support the metal which had fatigued over many decades of use. Andirons: 18 pounds each. 24-inches high, 14-1/2 inches wide at the base, 8-inches wide at the widest part of the oval, oval frame is 1-inch thick, firedogs are 21-inches long and 1-inch square in thickness. Great find for a Mid Century Modern enthusiast. Vintage 1950's to 1960's low Cast Iron metal If I was using this piece. I would use it for a magazine or newspaper rack. However, it is so low, that I think it was originally a Mid Century Modern log holder/ rack for the fireplace. I believe that the top portion would hold the logs/ wood and that the lower section would hold newspaper for tinder needed to start the fire. Please read the dimensions prior to purchase just to be safe. It has great Mid Century lines and styling- low and sleek. This is an original. Definitely not a reproduction. Great streamlined Mid Century Modern styling– sleek and low with a minimalist curved arc footed side piece that ends with the top oval handle. Due to the rust from previous outside use. Fireplace grates were a big advancement on andirons, While andirons could hold large logs and chunks of firewood, a fireplace grate could contain the entire fire, kindling, charcoal, fuel-wood and all, and keep it off the floor of the fireplace, improving airflow! These grates are usually made of iron which was forge-welded together. They varied in size, from smaller, coal-burning grates, to much larger wood-burning grates, which could be several feet wide and several inches deep! This neat. Selling a stunning Antique Cast Iron Fireplace Basket Grate Coal Box Wood Log Holder from the late 19th century. Measures roughly 18" tall x 24" wide x 13" deep. Features a beautiful Fleur-de-lis/lily motif. There is a door/flap on the bottom that is able to tilt and allows you to dump the coals or ashes. The back is stamped 1505-24. The sides stamped 1505L and 1505R, face is stamped 1505, the bottom is stamped 24 and the door/flap is stamped 230. In Good Used Condition, shows appropriate wear for it's age. Still has the original dark blue paint but it is chipping and has some rust. Please see pictures for more on condition. Let me know if you have any questions.
