Pair of Heavy Estate Ornate Brass Antique Fireplace Andirons Chenets
Up for auction is a beautiful pair of antique brass andirons. I would like to first point out that there is a piece missing on one of the andirons- it's the piece that goes into the hole in one of the hinges. This piece does not effect the way you use these andirons. Nor their ability to stand. As you can see in the pictures it is not really something one would notice unless you're looking for it. They are a beautiful addition to any fireplace. However, due to the missing piece, I am selling these andirons at a very inexpensive price. I will be honest. I do not know much about these andirons, except to know that they come from the estate of the great-great grandfather of a friend of the family. Very nice pair of old brass ball andirons. Solid and heavy. The one arm or extension has been repaired with a sleeve of sorts and wiring around the arm. It is shown in photo 2. Nice repair job and very usable. I started to polish the finials(one on right has been partially polished) Would b gorgeous polished. They have probably been stored in the attic more than they were displayed. They have never seen a real log! Measures about 17 inches tall and with the arms( I forget what they're called) are about 16.5 inches deep. Marked L and R and the fronts are stamped 1351 I think and the arms are stamped 1129 again. Here is a beautiful set of antique brass. Very detailed and ornate fireplace andirons with cast iron backs marked BENNETT. Claw feet, acanthus leaves around the top, a pattern similar to fleur de lis up the front and side of the top. Very, very detailed; there isn't a part that doesn't have some kind of design on it. The feet alone are double knuckled, detailed and measure 1-1/2" x 1-1/4" to give you an idea of size. Some of the fanciest ones I've seen. They are in excellent condition. Each one measures 23" tall. 18" deep, and 10" across the front. These are quite heavy.

This is an absolutely stunning pair of large antique ornate solid brass Victorian fireplace andirons. They are made from heavy brass and exquisite ornate detailing throughout. Footed with very detailed. Three dimensional claw feet and heavily embossed lion heads in between with beautiful scrolls completing the composition. The shaft is also very detailed and topped with a large multi-level brass finial. The back wood rests are made from solid cast iron. And have a brass plating on the top with a flame finial. this is an absolutely stunning pair of rare antique ornate victorian brass fireplace andirons. they have an obscure design with a dual andiron on each piece. they have a great 3 dimensional flame finial which is very detailed. The back/ wood rests are made from cast iron. With a brass plate over the top, and this is where the second is located. the brass has a great patina from age. one measures 22 inches tall by 9 inches wide by 17 inches back to front. there is slight ware to one of the back finials but facing toward the back it is hard to see. and some blacking on the back of the backs as well but will buff or clean up. great rare set. These post colonial American craftsman made items each measure 18" tall X 15 1/4" deep X 6 3/4" wide. And each weighs 6 pounds. 6 ounces. Each tall brass standard consists of two separate sections. Forming of a turned shaft of many curves with the unusual center square. The andirons rest upon cabriole legs and still retain their glorious original golden patina! Appropriate to their age. 2 ANTIQUE ANDIRONS Here is an interesting pair of andirons. They appear to be brass. At least the center posts do as you can see the brass under the patena and rust. The bottom leg area is showing some silver metal, too heavy and thick for aluminum, I would think. They are heavy, each weighing 11 pounds. They are rusty and may have been painted at some point. Within the patina are colors of red/pink, browns, gold and silver. The metal is thick. The back braces are cool looking. They measure 19.75" in height and 10" front to back. The back of each upright is marked A1 and a symbol I can't make out. The back bars/braces are marked D4. I would say these are very old. From the 1800's although they could be from 1900's. This is a stunning pair of mid 19th century brass and iron fireplace andirons. they are very ornate with intricate detailing and have a wonderful patina from age. they are nicely footed with dimensional claw feet and nicely curved legs. the shaft and ball top finial are deeply ribbed with a detailed filler piece in-between. the finial is very large and also topped with a solid brass finial. the back wood rest are large and made from cast iron. One has a very old repair that gives nice character. they each measure 22 inches tall by 8 inches wide by 22 1/4 inches back to front. they are nice old andirons. There are some dings to the ball tops. Column shaft, and beautiful claw feet. the back wood rests are made from cast iron. each measures 17 inches tall by 8 1/4 inches wide by 15 1/2 inches back to front. they are in nice antique shape.
