The handles are finished with reeded decoration to the uppers of the shafts with large reeded orbs to the terminals. The tongs are more ornate as can be seen in the images. There is a pretty engraved and pierced floral motif to the well shaped spade. Obviously the poker tip is of robust iron. These are a very robust set weighing in at over 3kgs! They are offered in as found condition. They have not been recently polished but the pieces are still pleasantly bright. It's really a wonderful piece. It's wing span is 38" wide& it is 2 foot tall. The feathers or you may call it a fan. Fold up into the brass casing for storage of 6.5" A note in closing. Thomas Jeckyll Fire Grate/ Basket This antique Aesthetic Movement/ Victorian coal basket is in excellent condition with only some minor wear. Designed by Thomas Jeckyll(English. 1827-1881) Made by Barnard, Bishop& Barnards, Norfolk Iron Works c1875(UK) Thomas Jeckyll is the architect of the famous"Peacock Room" which is installed at the Freer Gallery of Art in Washington DC until December 2015. It features a swiveling bottom grate and decorative lion's paw front pieces. The previous owner had it inside a Thomas Jeckyll"Cast Moth Signature" fireplace surround that was covered by a marble mantle via a recent remodel. He did not want to dismantle the marble work to reclaim the rest of the surround and was only selling the basket. The only flaw is a flat spot worn on one of the back wheels. Which is stuck, and a very ... moreslight heat warp in the back plate(too subtle to show in the photos) This has never been painted but has a fresh coat of stove polish(carbon black) It measures 16 inches high to the top of the back plate. 23 inches at the widest point(front) the back is 16.5 inches wide and the front rail is 9.5 inches high. Victorian Cast Iron Fire Place Tongs Double Heart Design
Here is a beautiful cast iron Victorian fire place tong. It has a double heart stamped out in the tong hands and has a rake end. There is minimal rust and one spot at the top of the arms where the cast iron broke. It appears that the mold was thin there. Like a bubble burst. The only damage to the tongs is the finial has been broken off. It must have happened a while ago as the broken face of it is worn just as much as the rest of its body. The piece has a wonderful hand stitched floral needlepoint insert in bright and lively condition. American pieces as such are difficult to ecounter in good original finish. This listing is for a pair of Victorian Gothic Andirons Fire-Dogs. They are in original condition. These are double sided. 4 pieces total.front facing decorative pieces and the pieces that function to hold the logs. The top has a round scallop design with"V" fan design in center and curls/flourishes. IThere is ribbed feathering around the points on the scallops and in the ring above the fan. Beneath this top is a spiral twist that lands on a piece with double dragon heads. Further down there is a pod footed piece with flourishes and possible"scales" pattern. On the backside of this piece there are two metal protrusions a peg and one is threaded like a screw. These protrusions fit into the base pieces that hold the logs. Refer to photos of andiron standing. There are no makers marks. Each"pair" of andiron.that ... moreis andiron with functional iron weighs 11 pounds and 8 ounces. They are 19" in height. 7 1/2 inches in width at the foot and 5 1/4 inches width at the top. These andirons are in original condition. Some original paint remains on the forward facing side. There are no chips. Nicks or cracks in these pieces. No restoration. The pieces that hold the wood show signs of fire use. There is some scattered rust on the pieces. The pieces that hold the logs slide onto a peg and screw on the back of the andirons. The screws may have been shortened at some point as they are about 1/4" in length. The pieces are sturdy when logs are placed on them providing stablility with weight. These have not been cleaned by this seller with the exception of using a dry brush to clean off some dust to expose detail. We ship within 24 hours of payment clearing. Dimensions are approximately 22 ¼” wide at the front. 19 ½” wide at the back, 16” tall at back, 12” tall at front, depth at legs is 11 1/4” and grate is 14 ½” deep. It weighs a little over 45 pounds. The only imperfection is on the back right corner where several of the uprights are slightly separated from the bottom rail. It is still very strong and can be picked up by the top. The imperfection can hardly be noticed from the front. The indicated shipping price is only for the lower 48 contiguous states of the US. We were instructed by'the powers that be' to totally empty and remove the whole of the content of a very remote and isolated Dartmoor cottage. The dwelling having had a'compulsory purchase order' levied upon it. When we eventually located and arrived at the property which was serviced by only a single cart track, we were astonished at the amount of antiquated and vintage items and furthermore, the years of compacted clutter that confronted us. The cottage had been unlived in for the previous two and a half years but surprisingly the contents were still totally intact and the place was remarkably dry. The reason for the contents still being in situ, intact and unmolested was the very remoteness of the place, out of site of prying eyes, if ... moreyou get my drift. There was no gas, no electricity, just natural spring water and an old oil stove for cooking. The site put me in mind of the famous'Lorna Doone' classic, so intense was the isolation and its outstanding naturally beautiful surroundings. Lighting was by paraffin lamps of which there was a surfeit and many of these were fully operational. We forged ahead and completed the job, disposing of all the'tat' and removing a vast amount of'smalls' to the store. These were kept back for further investigation and to determine their commercial value, a service they never received.the best laid plans of mice and men!I must interject at this point and explain that at that same time as this clearance, checking back in the books, we had no less than four jobs on the go in that particular week and things got slightly out of hand and stuff got pushed anywhere, simply to create space! A 19th C. Firescreen Panel done in the finest style with glass bead and plushwork in beautiful vibrant colors. Panel size is approx. 21 in. in length by 17" in width. The centre of the panel includes a raised plushwork bird surrounded by flowers.The background bead work is light grey in color. It is mounted on an elaborate adjustable brass and black enamelled frame.The frame enables it to be manoeuvered into many positions to protect the seated guest from the heat of the fire. The frame itself is a work of art. I cannot determine precisely who the manufacturer is but assume it would have been made in England c.1840. The screen is in very good condition. Both measure 13 1/2" long. 3 7/8 wide at front and 7 1/2" tall. Pair weigh approximately 25 lbs. Originally designed to simply lift logs up off the hearth. Antique Floral Tole Hand Painted Victorian Coal Scuttle Fire Place Bin& small Shovel. Shovel not original to the bin. Shovel has numbers 56 embossed on handle. Sovel has rust and pitting. Ash bin is missing a foot. I will replace when I get time with a hand made one or it will be sold as is. Bin is in good condition besides the missing leg and it has scuffs and scratches. Paint loss, rust, dings dents. Inner bucket looks unused. Measures approx. 13" tall x 13 3/4" deep x 10" wide. Shovel measures approx. 19 3/4" long x 4 3/4" wide. Antique VICTORIAN Brass CAMEO Fireplace fan peacock FIRE SCREEN
Cast Brass folding peacock style fireplace fan. It folds up and locks shut with a small bar on each side. Bars are slightly bent but do lock fans up. Brass is in very good condtion.no corrosion anywhere. Fans are in good condition and open and close easily. This fan has been in my closet for more than 15 years. Brass has not been cleaned in that time. The filial at the top turns sideways to lock fans. For easy handling. It is quite heavy to pick up, and sturdy. There are no markings of a manufacturer or brand on it. Measurements: Total height- 27" Width closed: 9" Width with fan opened: 37" Depth of base: 4 3/4" Weight: 10 lbs.

SUPER COOL PIECE I don't really know what this is but I asked a few people and we all think that perhaps its a fire screen but honestly I am not sure she is just super cool so I had to have her. She is all metal and I don't know the age of her. But I don't think she is brand new but not super old either. She is just really a neat piece to sit around somewhere, she is quite large and she has a great necklace on and bodice that reminded me sort of a French lady.
