Offered is a Pair of Rare Vintage Victorian Era Hand Forged Andirons. Each iron measures approx. 11 ½” long by 8 ¼” wide at the front feet. They stand between 8 ¾” and 9 ¼” tall. The front of the andirons is short by comparison to modern day andirons. And uneven at the top. It is unknown if they were modified to fit a specific fireplace through the years. Or originally designed with this primitive style and height. The old Victorian era fireplaces were usually much smaller than those of today. Please use the photo zoom for the best view. There is abundant surface rust and other natural aged patina scattered about. Consistent with that of 100 to 120+ year old antique ironware. VINTAGE PRIMITIVE VERY RUSTIC BLACKSMITH CRAFTED ANDIRONS ANTIQUE CAST DOG IRONS
Offered is a Primitive Very Rustic Set Of Hand Crafted Antique Firedogs. Each andiron measures approx. 13 ¾” tall by 8 ¼” wide at the feet(left to right) They are 18” long. This set is from a local farm house estate and was likely Blacksmith crafted in a fire pit around the turn of the century(late 1800’s to early 1900’s) The composition and age of the silver or pewter colored material making up the border is unknown. These andirons are quite substantial in craftsmanship and weigh nearly 36 pounds as a set. They were initially made to last a lifetime. And it appears that they have done just that! This is a pair of andirons or fire place end irons. They are polished brass,almost 22" tall they are 21.75" tall 15.50" from front to back and the front 2 legs are 8" from foot to foot, they do have some vintage marks,see pictures, have not tried to polish them, they are my Uncles whom has had them for 35 years and they were a gift from his mother in law from her antique store in the carolinas so who knows how old they are, would look great in any fire place, feel free to ask any questions thank you for looking

Black Americana Butler & Maid Andirons Dog irons cast iron antique
This auction is for a set of andirons. It is a Butler and Maid set. I discovered them at an estate sale here in Alabama. They are made of heavy cast iron and are solid. They measure 16& 1/2 inches tall and 17 inches long. From the front to the end of the log bar. They weigh 40 to 45 lbs. I believe they were made in Georgia post civil war era. Late 1800's. The y are in very good condition. They do not come apart. They did come apart when made but have sort of solidified together over 150 years. They possibly could come apart but I wont attempt it because I am afraid of damaging them. These rare andirons list for up to 2.000 dollars. NO RESERVE!
