I have for auction this fab ulous quality original pair of authentic Antique Chenets. They are French and will date to the Napoléon 111 period, C1870, they were found in a house clearance here in the South of France. I have not cleaned them, because I understand that some dealers do not like their metal ware cleaned. So they are as we say here in France"dans son jus" in their original state with fabulous patina. The beautifully cast bronze has great definition, I hope you will be able to see this in my 12 photo's, these wonderful chenets would have been very expensive when first purchased in C1870, the maximum height to the top of the flame shaped finial on the lid of the urn is approx 10.75" or 27.5cms and the maximum width is approx 11.25" or 28.5cms. DETAILS* These are a Lovely pair of Cahill Ironworks cast iron andirons with bronze and brass finish. They are is hand hammered. They are marked Cahill in diamond pattern and also have the number 82 on the back. I ... morebelieve the ANDIRONS are circa 1900, super Mission or Art& Crafts design, beautiful. Iron Cross like pattern decorates the base and moveable decorative handle of each piece. Cahills Architectural Brass and Iron Works was an ironwork's company out of Chattanooga, Tn. which was in operation from 1875 to 1922. They are 18 1/2 tall and 9.50" wide. Total depth is 19" with log holders. The top point and handles are brass finished, they contrast nicely against the bronze finish of the body, beautiful. The log holders are attached with bolt, will remove for packing. They will need to be reattached when you receive them. Easy to do. Finish shows light wear considering their age would consider condition very good, no rust on decorative piece's. Log holders do have light rust from use. Here are a pair. of solid bronze/brass dolphins cast for making a pair of ANDIRON's for a fire place. We are more inclined to believe they are bronze being they never have corroded after hanging on our bathroom wall for over 35 years. To clarify them. The picture to the far right are a pair of"cast iron" andiron's that sold on ebay last week for around $413 delivered. These two that we have after close examination are the exact same casting only in bronze/brass without the brackets to put the legs on them that go out the back to hold the logs in your fireplace. Listed for auction is this magnificent pair of antique cast bronze/ brass figural lion andirons. These lions are standing erect. Looking straight forward as if standing guard. These highly detailed lion andirons are in very good condition for their age. They have a rich dark original patina. These lions are made of thick heavy bronze/ brass. There are no breaks, cracks or repairs on these lions. I believe the age to be mid 1800's to early 1900's. The lions measure approx. 7-1/2" tall from top of head to bottom feet x 11" wide. Up for sale is an antique decorative art nouveau brass or bronze pair of miniature fireplace andirons recently found at auction in the suburban Phialdelphia PA area. The brass or bronze front are heavily patinated and very stylish. They do not attract a magnet. The back of the andirons are made of iron and do attract a magnet. They could be cleaned or left in their present patinated state. The backings are loose but the original hardware is there so they could be tightened. They measure approx. 6 1/4" side by 8" tall and 15" long. The other condition issue is one of the tops is folded over more than the other and is a bit different. Pair of Bronze Figural Andirons with Lions and Mythical Creatures. In very good condition. Date is 19th Century European. They stand 34" tall; 21" wide at the base and weight each approx. 75# Provenance: Were used by the Wurzburg Family in Grand Rapids. MI during turn of century. Wurzburg's were the 1st Department store in Grand Rapids. These were then purchased by the new owners who bought the mansion in 1960. So these andirons have only had 2 owners. Sold unassembled in two seperate boxes.

Pair of Brass Andirons Both are 13 inches tall. I think they are cast iron and then brass plated. As you can see they have a little 3rd leg that can be folded up for storage or extended back to make it stand. I would say these are strictly decorative. Most andiron have a bar or trough for the logs to sit on and burn. These DO NOT. Very good condition. One of the pine cones tilts ever so slightly. See photo#3. These would look great as accents on each side of your fireplace.

Dolphin Bronze Brass and Iron Andirons 14.5 inches tall. This a pair of antique Dolphin Andirons. They have never been cleaned and measure 14.5 inches tall by 9.5 inches wide and 12.5 deep. I'm not sure exactly the metal but they probably date to late 1800s or early 1900s. They are in great condition except the the vertical"leg" piece on the very back right one has become detached and is taped on as in the photo. It will stand up fine without this piece. It could be left off. Welded back on, or left or left like I have it with tape or glue.

Antique Bradley and Hubbard andirons bronze/brass circa 1890/1900
Up for auction is a very unique pair of Bradley and Hubbard andirons. These beautiful antique andirons were an estate find in South Carolina low country. They are made or brass or bronze except for the leg part where the log goes that is cast iron. The entire front including the handle is made of the same material brass or bronze.I can see a few places where the shiny metal shows thru as shown in the pictures. I do not want to remove the beautiful patina. The top part is hollow and you can turn the top finial and unscrew it. I only turned it slightly for the photo but it appears to be in 4 separate pieces. These are both in great condition and I do not see any damage or repairs. I have not been able to find any just like it in my research. They are both stamped Bradley and Hubbard mfg co 12. for sale a wonderful pair of antique french bronze chenets or andirons that have cherubs or putties sitting on the side of each. One playing a banjo, the other blowing a choice of two trumpets. of course the blackamore putties add additional charm and beauty to these french bronzes. the castings are nicely done on this set of chenets and they are large being almost 17 inches tall and about 8.5 inches wide. the extensions to support the wood holding grates are 12 inches or so. these pieces can be removed and either shorter or longer pieces can be substituted. that portion of the andiron is pretty insignificant as far as value goes. at any rate, a great pair of chenets that are nicely cast with exceptional carvings all over them and great putties along side. if you search ebay you will not find any that have a better look. the nicer ones listed ... moreare priced way up into the thousands, like 12-15,000 maybe more. some of the less desirable are priced like in the 2-3,000.00 range. i am going to start these at what i have in them from a long time ago. i don't need them and have several sets, of which i only use 2. i have stuff piled up everywhere and need to dispose of some things so i can get thru the house without tripping over a bunch of stuff. they have good weight to them but can be wrapped and packed well and sent via usps, ups, or fed ex for probably 40 or 50 bucks. good luck.
