Brass & Cast Iron 2 piece Fireplace Classic ANDIRON Set
Previously owned but shows no signs of ever having burning logs atop them. this set of 2 Classic styled FirePlace ANDIRONS. Measures 18 1/2" height x 13" overall length x 7 1/2" width(foot to foot) The brass finial is actually 4 pieces as shown in photo#6. And is not a solid piece(hollowed out inside) The cast iron body section is hollowed out as well. The body attaches to the 1/8" cast iron legs which attach to the 5/8" x 1/2" wrought iron shank. With logs placed atop the Andiron shank. Will raise the firewood 3 3/4" off the fireplace floor. A lighter weight set, weighing 3 1/2" pounds each. If you intend to use these for more than just fireplace decor, I would suggest that you use a cooler burning wood- definitely not Hickory which burns extremely hot. Description This is a fantastic antique mantel that was salvaged from a Victorian mansion. It is made of oak and is currently painted. The top has a carved pediment and small curved shelf. There is a nice beveled mirror between two small shelves. The lower shelf is held with small corbels. It measures 64.5 wide and is 77.25 tall and is 11.75 inches deep. The firebox opening is 35.5 wide. By 36 tall. If you remove the filler boards, the openingwill be 41.5 by 38.5 tall. Overall. It is in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings adding to the antique charm of this piece. A couple minor repairs are needed. The small columns need reset and the backboard needs to be reattached. Easy fix. The center is beveled. The left mirror is not beveled and the right is missing. There are shelves in the middle of the outer mirrors and are supported by turned spindles. There is a band of ornate detail below the shelf. There are flat recessed panelings around the opening trimmed in reel and bead molding. The overmantel has 8 fluted columns with ornate capitals. Description This is a great fireplace mantel that was salvaged from a Philadelphia Victorian Home. It is made of oak and is currently painted. It is 2 pieces. Upper and lower. The upper has a large beveled mirror with a shelf and spindle gallery above. It is supported by 2 turned bracketed columns. The top has a carved backsplash. The lower has a shelf supported by fluted corbels on top of ornate pilasters. The breast has built up moldings and round embellishments. It measures 48.25 inches wide. The upper is 34.5 inches tall and the lower is 46.5 tall for a total of 81 inches. The firebox opening is 30 wide by 30.25 tall. Overall it is in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. It could use a good scrubbing but will clean up nicely. There is a seam on the lower shelf that is showing. Antique Majolica fireplace tiles. Identical 2-pieces, raised relief. Measures 6 inch square by about 3/8 inch thick, not including the raised relief. There are a few, very small chips on the high points of the relief. I tried to capture in the photos. No fracture lines. Some plaster debris still on sides of right tiles, can be easily removed by buyer. Also be aware that the shine on photos are not defects. The defects are very small and NOT white, shiny spots. Early Antique Iron Fireplace Screen This iron piece is from an old stone house that was built in the 1800s. I thought it was an iron screen that would go in the back of the fireplace to reflect the heat outward. But the owner thought it was used to cover the fireplace opening during the night to keep the house warm and keep the fire from coming out of the fireplace opening. It is made of three pieces of heavy iron. Has an embossed fleur de lis pattern and raised trim. there are hinges or hooks that hook into the other pieces. Once hooked together, the sides of the screen can be turned so the piece stays upright. Please note that one of the hooks(on the bottom of the right side panel has broken off. In good antique condition, solid and sturdy, very nice early piece. The larger.
