Reclaimed Antique Hand Hewn Wood Fireplace Mantle Free Floating Shelf
This is a real. Solid beauty! Salvaged after a fire, this is an antique hand hewn rough cut wood fireplace mantle. The"chiseled" out surface gives the piece a three dimension affect. Not sure what type of wood this is- it's heavy though! The wood is worn, the top has some candle wax remains, the bottom has remains of glue-putty and one end has char marks from the fire. Great hunk of wood! There was a piece of trim molding on the front of the piece which was added later on to. This would make a nice free floating shelf also. The piece has 2 metal slots in the back that can be used to hang it. The mantle is 6 feet long. 9" wide and 2 1/2" thick. Hand made from late 1800 early 1900s embossed tin, looks like It was old Tin Ceiling material. Plastic 1950s Art Deco Style hanging beads/jewels added around the perimeter, tin also hand painted in a light Beige and light Peach perimeter accent. Nice sturdy Construction, all seams folded nicely and has hangers cut into the back. NOW, I think these were made much later out of old materials, I think made around 1950s judging by the beads.
