My need for these tools will never be activated even though I love them. They have such class and will glamour up any useable fireplace. Downsizing as you get older can be painful when you give up many of the beautiful things you once lived with. BUT it is great that many of you are still shopping for(and have a use for) the nicer things in life for a good Price. The deer heads and base are solid brass and were"antique" finished when I bought them. They can be polished of course but patina gives metal a heritage appearance so I never did. The weight with a sturdy cardboard box for shipping will be around 33 pounds. I cannot list a correct shipping price until I know where they would go and freight is the only sensible way to ship with this weight to consider. If you are seriously interested in buying them- please give me a day or two before bidding ends to check out the price. These are early 20th C. Arts and Crafts owl handled fire tools with a matching stand. These sets are often attributed to Rostland Manufacturing Company. Milford, CT, but I am not sure of their maker. The stand is marked"651-1" MADE IN USA" The set is missing a brush that would have sat on the rear of the stand. The poker, tongs and shovel are 26.5"L, and the stand is 27"H with a 9.5"x7" base. There is significant oxidation of the finish from use in a fire place. Further, the stand's handle turns slightly, but this does not affect its use. The tools and stand are well made. Gorgeous English Brass Fireplace Tools and Fire Dogs Dated 1882
This fabulous set of fireplace tools with matching fire dogs was made February 6. 1882(according to the British Registry marks on each of the tools and on each of the fire dogs) They are neo-classical in form with some Jacobean elements. The handles of the tools are draped classical urns with ring and baluster turnings in the approximate centers of each rod. The tongs have flat strapwork elements below the handle and at the tong ends. The shovel has keyhole shaped blade which is beautifully engraved with a patera, drapery and flowers. The fire dogs have animal legs and paw feet supporting classical urns and drapery. All the tools and the fire dogs are in superb original condition with no damage or notable scratches, etc. All are made of solid brass and appear to have been very lightly used in their 132 year existence. The tongs are 30.25" ... morelong, the poker is 29.75" long and the shovel is 28.25" long. The fire dogs are 10.75" tall. Washington State residents please add 9.5% State Sales Tax. This is a BEAUTIFUL set of antique cannon ball type cast iron fireplace andirons. Tools and original matching stand. All of these items were made as a set. Because of that. They match perfectly. It is hard to find a set like this that includes the andirons. The tools and the original stand THAT ALL MATCH ONE ANOTHER! You really need to see this set to see how beautiful it is. With one minor exception noted below. The set is in wonderful condition and looks like it just came off of the showroom floor because they have been refurbished!
