These Tongs are in amazing condition for the age. The tongs are hinged. And only one side moves. There is a hand hammered pin in the cast top piece that holds the hinge together. You can also see the hammer marks on the bends just beside the hinge. The tongs measure 23 inches tall and they're 3 inches wide at the hinge. The tongs were painted at some point and there is significant paint loss. No Rust though. Excellent Rare example here. Vintage Solid Brass Fireplace Andirons Large 11" dia. Ball Finials 17.5" H
Very nice pair of old brass ball andirons. Solid and heavy. The one arm or extension has been repaired with a sleeve of sorts and wiring around the arm. It is shown in photo 2. Nice repair job and very usable. I started to polish the finials(one on right has been partially polished) Would b gorgeous polished. Measure almost 18" high and the extensions are 14" The balls measure 11" around the ball. So they are on the larger size. The only identification I could find is what looks like 100K or R on the bottom of one of the arms. These came from an estate in Baltimore. Wonderful cast metal andirons. With pierced brass rosette tops. The scrolling brass tops feature an urn with flowers and thistle detail. They are raised, and sit on a slender gooseneck stem which emerges from a wonderfully textured, hand wrought leg. The base has an light arch and pad foot. Each is marked on the reverse with the number 238. They are attributed to a Sheffield. NY maker, C. 1900. The andirons stand 22" in height, and have a length of 18" The pierced ornament at the top has a diameter of 6" We have recently acquired the pair form a local New England estate, and they are in good condition. We have not cleaned them, so as to preserve the lovely patina that has started to develop on the top. The rear supports are clearly charred, as can be expected. Antique Cast Iron Fireplace Insert With Brass Finials
Super Victorian fireplace insert with brass finials. Beautifully decorated with two fancy columns that have a nice leaf pattern across the top and down the sides. Removable cast iron feet. Has a small crack in it's back so it should probably be used for decorative purposes only. The brass needs polishing. This piece is very heavy and it does not fit into a modern fireplace opening. As you can see by the photos I was not able to push it back all the way. It made a nice focal point for my old gift shop and it looked great with a huge poinsettia plant in it during the holidays. Your are bidding on a great pair of brass andiron finials. Depicting a lady holding a candle holder and a torch. There was a 3rd pc with them when we acquired the set. I don't know exactly what it is but we have included it with the finials. That pc looks to be made of brass and soapstone. Each finial has a threaded hole at the bottom for the mounting. Very ornate and beautiful. They measure 9-3/4 inches tall and 5-1/2 inches wide. They are made of heavy brass material.
