Vintage Cast Iron Solid and HEAVY Fireplace Irons Tools With Stand NICE
These REALLY look like brass. But a magnet sticks to everything, so I am assuming it is cast iron. They are at least from the 70's, because they were in my Mothers house for at least that long. They are very heavy, and solid. Of course, there is some slight surface rust and signs of age, but no damage or abuse to call. I think they will clean up beautifully! The poker is a little bent, but nothing that cannot be straightened if it bothered you. The stand's handle unscrews, from the base, so I will separate it for shipping. That should just about do it! The front of the andirons is short by comparison to modern day andirons. And uneven at the top. It is unknown if they were modified to fit a specific fireplace through the years. These dog irons(as they are called. I think) are a complete set, original antiques, with no breaks, cracks, or damage, screwed together at the bottom(pls see pics) Note: at some point they were painted over w/ primer and gold paint for a fake fireplace. I am unsure if they were repainted w/ high-heat paint, but I know for sure other than the paint, these Andirons are intended for a real fireplace. This listing is for a pair of antique cast iron English Style fireplace irons. We bought these irons when we lived in Virginia over 25 years ago and believe they may be of Colonial Virginia origin. We have made no attempt to restore them and current gray paint surface was well before we purchased them. You will notice that the inside shown in the last photo shows rust. There are no rust through places on the irons. We will have these irons professionally packed and we will pay for the packing. We invite comment regards their origin and possible age.
