This is a stunning antique 19th century large gold gilded bronze fireplace fender. it has beautiful ornate solid bronze stylized lion head feet on the corners. the fencing of the fender is extremely detailed with pierced cross-like design and very ornate. the bottom edge of the fender is a nicely ribbed bronze rail. there is also a rounded top rail that runs around the whole top edge. it has a wonderful patina from age and measures 42 3/4 inches long by 9 inches tall by 13 1/4 inches back to front. it is a very large fender and in good antique shape. These lion's head andirons were used together with the tools even though they didn't match up the same but looked great together. The andirons don't have log holders attached because they were used with a different log set up. If you need a set they are easy to find. Each piece measures 20.5" tall and 9.5" across at the feet. Antique Small Brass Fireplace Tool Set Jester's Head Tops Figural Vintage Rare
Extremely unusual and very cute. Small antique figural fireplace tool set made of brass. The set consists of a main stand with three tools that hang from the top. There is a cute small shovel. A brush and tongs. The finial on the main stand is a jester's head that looks kind of medieval and very detailed. The top of the shovel and brush is also the same figural jester head with a loop at the top of the middle point of his hat so that it can hang from the hook. The tongs look like a large pair of scissors and are very heavy for their size. The highest point on the set which is the actual stand with the jester on its top measures 17" tall. The shovel is 9 1/2" high. The brush is also 9 1/2" and the tongs are 10" Condition is good vintage considering its age. The round base of the main stand is open at the bottom and ... morehas a few minor knicks or bents here and there. Not that noticeable. The brush has lost some of its bristles on the bottom from previous use, and the shovel and tongs have blackened areas towards their bottom part from previous use in the fire. We have not attempted to clean anything on the set and we are selling it in its as found antique condition. The tongs also have a problem at their joint area where they do not close properly. Antique Iron Brass Andirons ornate lion head fireplace
This pair of Victorian black iron fireplace andirons have ornate bodies with feet and lion heads. The balls at the top are not iron but lighter hollow metal. Possibly brass that have been painted a copperish color in the past. There is a dime size dent on back of one of the balls.please see next to last pic. They are 13" deep, 19" high and 8.25" at widest point.
