The front piece is cast iron with a beautiful and intricate floral design. The base is attached to that piece. And the log holder sits on top of that. The front piece has a hairline crack, which is barely noticeable, and a small"cut" on the left side. These imperfections do not compromise the integrity of this lovely piece. They could be repaired or left exactly as is. This would look beautiful in an older home or as a decorative item to hold plants or other items. It came from a Victorian home in Berkeley. CA. Weight is 8 lbs each. Pieces are very sturdy with no play in them. The cast iron legs are marked" Rd 15380" There are also two lines under the small d. May be a mold mark. I really don't know. The finials as well as the rods are all solid brass. Age I would guess would be early last century. Condition is consistent with age. I can not tell for sure whether they are copper or brass due to their patina but they look copper to me. Andiron measure approx 19 in. Tall. They are 9 in. Wide Length of log dogs are about 14 in. One of the wrought iron holders is marked 7 L the other 7 R. These great old andiron are in wonderful sturdy condition and have a wonderful colored patina.
