GREAT CONDITION* VERY RARE EARLY 19th C 1830's STAMPED BRASS FEDERAL PERIOD DOOR KNOB BACK PLATE This offering is for a early 19th century stamped brass Federal period door knob back plate. The back plate features a Federal urn at the top and tons of handwork. The back plate measures 9" long by 2" in width and the condition is excellent with bends breaks or repairs. Please note the very folky somewhat off set and tilted keyhole. There are no makers marks but judging by the workmanship and design I would place the date of manufacture to the early 1800's. The back plate is in outstanding condition. It displays great and will make an excellent addition to someone's collection, shouldn't it be yours! 4 Rare And Huge Russell & Erwin 1880 6X9 Brass Hinges Geisha Pattern
These antique(1880) Russell& Erwin door hinges are very rare. They are in the Geisha pattern and they are very large hinges measuring 9 inches by 6 inches. they measure about 10 inches from the top of one pin to the bottom) I have seen the same pattern in smaller hinges but never one this size. Each hinge is marked"Pat. Jan 13. 1880" and"No. 17" and"6X9" They are solid brass(could be copper but I think brass) and are about 1/4 inch thick. Each hinge weighs about 4 lbs. 15 oz. They are very intricate in design and highly unusual. The designs cut into the plates are beautiful and unique and in fine detail. One side of the hinge features a man and a woman(a Geisha I believe) The woman has an umbrella and they look to be approaching each other on a small bridge. The detail is wonderful. The other side of the ... morehinge features a vase. A bird and flowers. This side is also wonderfully detailed. They are in great condition with no damage or repair. They are in excellent condition with no breaks or cracks. Measurements are approximately 2 5/8" wide x 12 3/4" tall. Mounting hole spacing is 1 9/16" side to side and 12 3/4" top to bottom. I have an old cast iron surface rim lock with catch for your consideration. Included are a pair of porcelain doorknobs. Doorknob rosette, ornate skeleton key backplateand standard 1/4 inch driverod with a couple set screws for the knobs. The latch mechanism engages and disengages with drive gear and the lever lock locks latch. I do not have a key for deadbolt slide so I do not know if it works. Upon opening everything seems to be in order if you find a key or have one made. See pic of inside and you make your decision. Can be used without deadbolt as is. There is quite a bit of original black paint along with other residual paint and finish from over the years. Questions welcome otherwise what you see is what you get. Handsome antique set of 3 matching door hardware. 18" tall, 3 3/8 wide, and a half inch deep. Nice lot of four antique Eastlake patterned doorknob keyhole backplates for your consideration. These are good reusable condition. Some very minor peening might be needed to straighten a couple of the edges. Most of the original copper Japanning is gone. Some residual cleaning will be needed for a new finish where there is some old paint and finish on them. Neck collars are tight for reuse and measure just shy of 3/4 of an inch. Plates measure 5 1/2 x 1 3/4 inches and are 2 inches ctr to ctr of the skeleton key barrel to the doorknob collar. Questions welcome otherwise what you see is what you get. I have seen them described elsewhere as Eastlake, but can't find confirmation that mine are actually Eastlake so am describing them as Eastlake-like. They measure just over 1& 3/4" in diameter. The inside opening measures 9/16" in diameter. Not only are these architectural gems, but they make lovely pendants when worn individually. We have offered this item before. But with what we think were not very good photos. This is an attempt to improve the showing. The gothic style heavy(approx. 2 3/4 lb. bronze door plate is ready to be used with any fitting lock and doorknob. It has a light patina which we have purposely left as is since some people prefer it this way. It is approx. 14" in height, 3" in width, and stands out from the door approx. 1/2" The lock hole is approx. 4 inches from doorknob base(center to center. There are 4 holes for mounting. As can be seen, this was designed primarily as an outside escutcheon.
