Antique, original entry door set made by"Norwich" of Norwich, CT during the late 1880's This set consists of 2 bronze knobs, 1 bronze escutcheon, 1 bronze rosette, 1 bronze keyhole cover, 1 bronze thumb turn, 1 iron mortise lock with bronze face plate, 2 working keys and 1 spindle with 2 set screws. All bronze parts are solid, heavy cast bronze- not stamped or plated iron. We found this set with the 4 parts with it. so we added a period rosette, keyhole cover, and thumb turn from our collection to complete this set. Norwich" was a smaller company during its time, and now its very difficult to find parts for one of these sets. All bronze parts are embellished with lovely aesthetic(East lake) style details. At the point of salvage, some parts were painted, and all were heavily tarnished canceling ... morethe beauty of the sets design. Since then, we have cleaned and polished all bronze parts to a brilliant shine. The set is in excellent condition with no breaks,cracks,or heavy scratches. Set of 4 Antique Eastlake Victorian Single Skeleton Key Door Knob Back Plates
Set of four antique stamped door knob escutcheon(back plates) that retain lovely Victorian details. 1 13/16 inches wide. 5.5 inches high. Some dings and scratches but otherwise great condition. These were heavily painted over and carefully cleaned. Though some small areas of paint remain hidden inside and outside the door knob hole and some tiny specks remain on plate(see photos) Could be further cleaned and shined by buyer if desired; I left as is in case buyer does not want it too shiny. Not magnetic, could be brass or gold-toned steel. If buyer does not intend to use these as actual door back plates. Circa 1870-1905. They are heavy cast door plates. Condition is very good. No rust. No paint or varnish. They still have a good deal of their original brass plating whick in its current state is a warm aged brass. One is missing the reducer in the center of the doorknob collar where the spindle goes through(easily replaced with a washer) The other has an original mold flaw on its square door knob collar. They are completely ready to install. These plates measure 5 1/2" tall by 1 3/4" wide. It is 2 1/8" from the center of the round part of the keyhole to the center of the doorknob well. This is a hard-to-find Victorian Eastlake design by P.F. Corbin. This is the"Canton" design. c1905. Very ornate. This is a pressed steel plate with bronze plating. The bronze plating is now warmly distressed. Condition is very good. No cracks or breakage. No chips. No paint. No rust to the face. But there is miniscule oxidation on reverse. This is a pair of original P.F. Corbin door plates in the"Ceylon" pattern. This Ceylon pattern was featured in Corbin's 1895 catalog. These plates are solid. Heavy CAST BRONZE. Condition is excellent. No paint. No cracks or chips. Design is sharp and crisp. Perfect mounting holes. Clean door knob wells and keyholes. No chips, tears or rough edges. We love their patina, but because it is solid bronze it may be polished to your liking. These plates measure 5 1/2" tall by 1 9/16" wide. They have a beautiful engraved scroll design. They are tarnished. There is some minor slashes of paint on edges and back that is easily removed. These would clean up nicely and is being left up to buyer to do so if they wish. This is a set of 2 miscellaneous faceplates or door plates. They contain lots of paint and some rust. The ornate one would be very detailed if the paint were removed as seen by the reverse photo of the plate. The painted one is 8" long x 2.25 Wide. Measured on reverse from top of handle hole to bottom of key hole is 3.25" The square one is 7" x 2.25" measured on reverse from top of handle hole to bottom of key hole is 3" I have done very little cleaning on the item and will leave that up to the buyer as to not do any damage to the piece.
